Is anyone else’s cat quite concerned when their owner goes for a bath?

Toots will sit at the side of the tub watching very closely. She will insist on being as close as possible. Be it on the floor or actually on the tub.

When you’re out the bath, the moment your skin is dry, she will make sure her scent is over you again. Won’t be satisfied till it happens

Yes! Cheddar always has her paws on the side on the bath. Checking I'm hot going to drown. Penelope also does it too.

Ours is often on the side dabbing bubbles with his paws, you have to watch out because he is also known to jump in, he's a Bengal and obsessed with water

slowerprofessor · 04/02/2024 18:55

Mine is not concerned, but is extremely interested!

SorrowsPrayers · 04/02/2024 18:56

Jonathan used to lay on the edge of the bath whilst I was in it. He would swipe at the bubbles and his tail would hang down into the water. I miss bath times with him.

I only shower and I never put the heating on in the morning but the shower warms the room. Haribo flings open the door to watch (pervert) and the temperature in the room drops like a stone.

I hate baths so along with a Christmas tree he will never experience a bubble bath.

Soubriquet · 04/02/2024 19:07

Toots will bat the bubbles too but she’s more like how Cheddar and Penelope are

What breed of cats are these? So pretty

HunterBidensBurnerPhone · 04/02/2024 19:14

Whenever I go into the bathroom for any reason, one or both of them will follow m and wait outside to make sure I'm okay.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/02/2024 19:20

@pursefurstpirsefrudt they are Exotic shorthairs. (Shorthaired Persians) They gave their own threads. Potential new inmate at Toddler Towers and Cheddar & Pickle.

Cheddar demands to be picked up
And cuddled while I'm on the toilet. I have absolutely no privacy!

Mine likes to sit on the side of the bath and drink the hot bath water. Mews outside the door if I don't let him in.

Daffyyellow · 04/02/2024 19:23

I shower. Cat guards bathroom, only when I’m in the shower.

eurochick · 04/02/2024 19:23

One of mine puts her paws on the side of the bath and looks most distressed. She checks on me multiple times. The other is wholly unbothered.

When I was a child my grandparents had two cats whom I adored. One, a black female who was usually rather aloof, was fascinated by baths., and once when I was in the bath she jumped up on the tiles to have a look, slipped and fell right in. Never in my life have I seen such a shocked and appalled expression on a feline countenance.

blackpanth · 04/02/2024 19:25

One of my cats eats the bubbles

SongbirdGarden · 04/02/2024 19:25

Yes and my big lump slipped and fell in, soon got himself out though. No harm done.
He also sits in the sink and does a wee, never a poo, he is fascinated by water.

Johnathan 🤣 I bloody love silly animal names. Made my night - thank you!

Iheartmysmart · 04/02/2024 19:27

When DS was small we had two Maine Coons, one of which was very much DS’s cat - they were inseparable. She used to get in the bath with him and had her own hooded towel for when she got out.

Gingernaut · 04/02/2024 19:31

This is one of my favourite cat videos

Siamese cats are very concerned when their preferred slave locks herself in the shower

WinterDeWinter · 04/02/2024 19:31

Some cats like water - or at least, aren't afraid of it. We have a Turkish Angora and when we had a bath with a wide rim he would sit on it and sloosh his tail by accident.

He RUSHES to the loo to look in when it's being flushed <poocrumb face>

BookWorm45 · 04/02/2024 19:37

Yes - mine when younger would walk around the edge of the bath, while staring at me, and then sit on it, so that his tail fell down into the water. Although I had my baths fairly hot, he didn't seem to care about the water on his tail at all.

A couple of years down the line, and he paid no further attention to baths. He does sometimes like to come into the bathroom and stare at the person using the loo, though.....

BlackboardMonitorVimes · 04/02/2024 19:37

DCat is always outside the bathroom after I have had a shower ready to cat mark my legs as soon as she can. Weird animal.

wobblyweasel · 04/02/2024 19:40

Mine would think it was time for a family meeting whenever I had a bath. I'd have my Gizmo sitting in the edge of the bath languidly dipping his tail in. The other four would be sprawled across the bath mats. Sadly the cats are long gone now, I do have a mad border collie who tries to eat the bubbles though!

Adorable!

I almost had heart failure a few weeks ago, when Penelope jumped onto the bath and poked her head round the shower curtain!
