Is anyone else’s cat quite concerned when their owner goes for a bath?

Toots will sit at the side of the tub watching very closely. She will insist on being as close as possible. Be it on the floor or actually on the tub.

When you’re out the bath, the moment your skin is dry, she will make sure her scent is over you again. Won’t be satisfied till it happens

Yes. Mine considered my having a bath as a spectator event.

feellikeanalien · 04/02/2024 19:47

Athena always comes in when I go to the loo and sits at my feet expecting to be stroked. When I have a bath she'll usually sit on the bath mat until she gets bored and then sits in the hall where the heating pipes are.

Yes! Cheddar always has her paws on the side on the bath. Checking I'm hot going to drown. Penelope also does it too.

The expressions on their faces are hilarious.......🙀😻

@Seasaltsquall Why Thankyou! His full name was Jonathan James. He was my lovely! Current DCat is Horatio. He is equally lovely!

Athena is gorgeous! Lives up to her name.

What breed of cats are these? So pretty

Please don't consider getting one of these extremely flat faced cats.

My mum's cat used to sit on my mum's tummy while she was in a steaming hot bath. Like a little tummy island 🏝️

Cheddar demands to be picked up
And cuddled while I'm on the toilet. I have absolutely no privacy!

Zero privacy! If I shut the door they go bananas. I thought when the kids got older that finally I'd be able to go to the loo in peace. But then I got cats. See also: being woken up at 5am.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/02/2024 19:59

@itsmyp4rty mine are all rescues.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 04/02/2024 20:00

I only have a Shower but I rarely shower without Dcat sat outside the glass door. Same for the loo, she rushes in and sits at my feet. I also have zero privacy! She is most indignant if I close the door without her being in there! I

Only me, she doesn’t do it with DH or the dses!

learieonthewildmoor · 05/02/2024 10:28

My brother’s cat used to hop up on the edge of the bath and sit there until he got out. The cat used to poo in the bath whenever he was displeased with my brother’s standard of service.
We can’t close the bathroom door. Cat One and Two consider themselves contractually obliged to visit us and check on our activities and do safety inspections. Cat Three is afraid of the bathroom but will stick his head in the door.

Myneighboursnorlax · 05/02/2024 10:33

I’m rather large of stomach, so lying back in the bath creates a nice island in the middle which my cat used to curl up on 😂

Kittensat36 · 09/02/2024 04:54

Kishmish provides security when I am in the bathroom, just in case the toilet attacks me.

One of my friends has a very large, very fluffy Norwegian Forest Cat who likes to walk along the side of the bath while he's in it. She often falls in and runs off. He has to shout out to his mum that a soggy moggy is crashing down the stairs.

LadyBird1973 · 09/02/2024 08:46

I don't think mine give a sit about me drowning tbh - they just want me to get out and drain the tub so they can jump in and enjoy the steam and lick water off the taps nutters

Bath: the comedy that is my bengal: he gets in with me. and then he trails water all over the house.

our cat will come and sit in your trousers when you are on the loo. its warm!

MrsWhattery · 09/02/2024 09:55

My kitten used to get in with me - but she didn’t want to get wet so balanced on the bits of me that weren’t underwater! She’s grown out of it now but still likes to be in the bathroom with me.

Morecatsarebetter · 09/02/2024 09:58

Yes! Our cat sits outside the bathroom door when my son is in the shower

Wincher · 09/02/2024 10:13

My cats do the same but I thought it was because my kids quite often take mugs of hot milk to drink in the bath and obviously the cats make it their mission to get at those! But maybe they are just generally fascinated by bathtime

Baldieheid · 09/02/2024 10:18

One of mine has been renamed Pervert as she insists on being in the bathroom with us for baths and showers. She sits on the loo seat watching with concern and then, the moment we're out, starts rubbing herself all over any part of us she can reach. I often dry my hair with her pasted to me. I hadn't thought about the scent issue. She's just establishing her territory isn't she.

She's still a pervert though.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/02/2024 11:54

Cheddar put her paws on my knee when I'm on the toilet, and demands to be picked up and cuddled. Penelope also likes to come in for a fuss, as well. Absolutely no privacy in my house at all.

EmpressaurusOfTheScathingTinsel · 09/02/2024 12:01

My two fosters always come and stare at me while I’m showering, as if wondering why I don’t know how to wash properly.

Mumsnut · 09/02/2024 12:19

My old boy used to sit on the end and chat to me. Fell in once and clawed his way out using me as a ladder. Ouch ouch ouch!

Ponderingwindow · 09/02/2024 12:29

I have to make sure mine is locked out of the bathroom as soon as I start the tub running. She steals my baths otherwise. I’ll find her in there just enjoying a soak.
