How much of a problem are unspayed girls?

Penelope is not yet spayed, I have just discovered that they can spray. Are they as bad as male cats. I really don't want her doing it all over the house. Obviously she'll be done asap.

Probably right. Very sad. But hopefully a life of pampering and relaxation awaits her.

@Toddlerteaplease very few breeders care about "what's nicer for the cat."

@CurlewKate yes, unfortunately you are right. The late Maia should never ever have been used for breeding due to her HCM. Broke my heart to discover that they were named by the rescue, as they didn't even have names. 😢

If you want to avoid her coming into heat and possibly spraying, you could try the cat contraceptive pill maybe? I'm not 100% sure it's available in the UK (I live in continental Europe) but it's safe and effective for short-term use (ie a month or two I believe) and might well buy you time before you can get her spayed?

Thanks, I've never heard of such a thing, but will definitely enquire when I take her to the vet. Hopefully she'll be done within. Few days of her arrival.
