Keep your paws crossed that Penelope (also to be known as Pickle) will be right for Cheddar and arrive soon.
I'm a bit confused by her story, but she's an ex show cat. So hopefully will be healthy.
She's not yet in the rescue so we do t k ow her personality. But from what I've seen as show cats. They are pretty docile.

The rescue told me about her when O told them of Magic's death. And when I got to work that night. We had a patient called Penelope. So I take it as a sign!

I'm trying to speed it up a bit but the rescue is busy.

Found her. She was in her hiding place. I didn't look properly!

I feel bizarrely anxious that I'm going to get a telling off from the rescue. For the whole saga yesterday and why my vet won't give what she wants. She's gone abroad for work and I got a 'I'm really cross we'll talk when I get back" message. I can't see what I can do differently.

Fair enough for worrying but I reckon you’re both emotional about Penelope. When you’ve both calmed down a bit it’ll most likely be fine. Actually good she’s away for a bit so you can both calm down.

Daisymay2 · 26/09/2023 09:37

Simple, your vet was using her professional judgement. She is qualified to give an opinion, you recognise that and have passed on her advice. Why was the Rescue ignoring that is what my response would be. You have been the messenger, and how dare she be cross with you?
You have taken on difficult cats for them, so they must value you.
the comment about meloxicam being ibuprofen shows how superficial her knowledge is.

Toddlerteaplease · 26/09/2023 10:32

Rescue were adamant it's best practice. But since all practice is evidence based, I've been looking and I can't find any evidence to back her up. I think the vet wanted to go for the flush was because she was having a GA anyway. And wouldn't have been mentioned otherwise.

Wondering wether to get her temperature re checked before Monday. Vet want me to give metacam before the spay next week. But I want to know if the temperature has reduced or is being masked.

Is she behaving as though she has a fever?

Toddlerteaplease · 26/09/2023 19:11

It's really difficult to tell as I've never known her without one. So don't know what her usual personality is like. But she's bright and alert and affectionate. She does feel very warm tonight. Not sure she actually took her metacam this morning. I must admit that I've had enough now. And if she's still warm on Thursday. I'm going to get a second opinion. This has been going on too long.

Toddlerteaplease · 26/09/2023 19:12

I'm concerned that the metacam is just masking the temperature.

It's over a week now, isn't it? Something's not right Sad

Toddlerteaplease · 26/09/2023 19:35

Was really worried that she wasn't wanting to club over me and sit near me. Turned out she doesn't like the new bed I bought her in the way.

Toddlerteaplease · 26/09/2023 19:36

@Scampuss yes. I want her fit to be spayed on Monday.

The cattery staff answered my email and they will ask the owner. So I'll await her response and might take her to see her. I'm sure rescue will be happy for me to do that. If necessary I'll pay

Hello fan club

Making the bed her Majesty's own!😃

Toddlerteaplease · 26/09/2023 20:11

I'm slight concerned that she actually might be a real cat. Jumping and climbing.Turning her nose up at a brand new bed. Refusing to come near me until I move said bed. None of the other have been anywhere near as fussy.

It is The Law that a cat must ignore any brand new bed in favour of squashing themselves awkwardly into a manky old cardboard box you were on the point of throwing out ...

Allergictoironing · 26/09/2023 20:23

She looks so much more relaxed in that latest pic 😀

nettie434 · 26/09/2023 20:35

Hello Penelope! You're looking great. Just stay cool over the next few days. Maybe it's your way of showing that you don't like Toddler's TV choices? 😜Regards to lovely Cheddar of course.

But mine don't do boxes usually. Will have to box test Penelope. Watching the Incredible Theft tonight. She was happier with that. So maybe she just doesn't like murder.

A 'real cat' might be quite a shock!

I just had a quick Google to see the more recent history of Persians as (I think I mentioned on another thread possibly under a different name) we had one in the 80s-90s, a blue cream, who was a real proper hunty outdoors cat, but her face wasn't squashed, would now be called a traditional Persian I think. I hadn't realised they'd become so extreme until seeing yours. It's a bit sad really.

Toddlerteaplease · 26/09/2023 20:59

Mine aren't too bad. The late Magic & Maia also had nice faces. You should see some of them though. They are awful. I was shocked the first time I went to a show and saw the winner of best in breed.

It's really not good.

But I am very glad yours get a decent retirement.
