Bit of a dilemma re feeding at Allergic Towers, suggestions welcomed.
Vet advised that maybe Tobias could lose just a tiny bit of weight; in other words he's a fat chonk & needs to cut down. Girlcat has always maintained her weight just right bar the blip when she was sharing Renal food with Boycat, and has lost nearly all of that.
So I kept the dry out ad lib, and reduced the wet from 2.5 pouches a day between them to 2, then tried reducing it further to 1.5 (which is what Boycat & Girlcat used to have before he got ill).
But now Tobias, who tended to be more a wet food kinda guy, has started tucking in to the dry at a vast rate of knots. I can't not have the dry out all the time as Girlcat, who is mostly a dry food eater, is also a grazer. No diving in & cleaning the bowl out for her, even with wet food she used to eat a bit, wander off & come back a couple of hours later etc, and I reckon on a typical day she will eat a small amount 6-8 times.
They are already on Indoor dry food (so lower calorie), and I've yet to find a treat Tobias really goes for so he isn't getting much if any in the way of extras except the odd scrap of ham every few days.
So lovely ladies, Grumpy & TC's Dad, I was thinking of going back up to the 2 pouches of wet a day between them, and hope that will curb Tobias's new found enthusiasm for dry food a bit - what do you reckon?
