But DS2 has suddenly been made homeless. He's just texted me.

His horrible father (my vile ex husband) has given him three weeks to move out.

DS2 is autistic and vulnerable. I am going to try to apply for housing here in this village for him.

DS has never worked. He's 28.

How can a man kick his son out?
😥😥😥

I'm with Basil in terms of staying in. I love thecway that Linney has assumed that Mr SB has spent all day making him a new resting spot.

Fingers crossed you can get somewhere for DS2, Shell. Your ex has done a horrible thing but in the long run it could work out better for DS2.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/10/2023 21:50

Seconding nettie's sentiments. Good luck with sorting out your DS Shell.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 20/10/2023 22:17

Sending (((hugs))) Shell, I know what it's like to have a shit of an exH.

I can't send DH out in the rain atm 'cause of the chemo... He can't get anything out of the freezer either, or drink a cold drink 🙄

Cat Deliveroo is me here. No tip.

Staggered back in just now after a day of good works, buggered about, served high tea to Prince, collapsed on lovely warm sofa, nice fluffy cushion. Cuppa. Perfect.

Cushion bit me and flounced next door in outrage.

I see you have misunderstood the business model, which is the delivery of live (or very recently deceased) prey to the feline customers. Clearly, Cat Deliveroo would have to be run by actual cats, perhaps feral or farm cats could start a co-operative. What the payment would be, I don't know, as I am, unfortunately, not a cat.

I had one of those cushions, and so did my DM when I was a child. Both blackGrin

TheLongRider · 21/10/2023 08:57

Latest photo of Corduroy looking slightly peeved. She had just lost a fight with her brother. He rolled her over in the most undignified way.

The kittens have started using their litter tray, there's still the odd wee on the puppy pads lining their cage. This is so much easier than human babies. The kittens are not quite four weeks and the night feeds are stretching out.

I have 2 cats feeling very sorry for themselves, having been let down by their slave. Having got used to me waking up far too early recently 7 ending up getting fed by about 6am at the latest, today they didn't get first breakfast until after 9am!!!

For no reason I can think of, been waking up between 4:30 and 515 this last week (usual loo need) but then not being able to get back to sleep. Hence giving up & getting up early, and cats know the morning routine whatever time it starts - never to be varied on pain of the most horrible torture, namely 2 pairs of big green eyes looking sorrowfully at me from opposite sides of the room.

But last night I was totally exhausted for a number of reasons, mainly due to stress and lack of medication to be explained in my next post. Adding to the stress it's nephew no. 3's wedding this weekend in Scotland, and though I've known for ages that I couldn't go I was worried about DSis driving up there yesterday. So I took half a dose of Nytol & collapsed, & didn't wake for well over 9 hours! Hence the sad cats

Allergictoironing · 21/10/2023 09:52

Aaaand - main cause of stress.

When I was diagnosed with ADHD, the diagnosis & titration was outsourced by the NHS to a private company. All goes well, get titration signed off, but still having to go through the private company for the meds as my GP hadn't signed off the shared care agreement.

Beginning of the week, requested a new prescription from the company via their portal (only way to talk to them) Got told there's a national shortage & their suppliers have non, can I try to find a pharmacy that does have some & they will send me a prescription. Find local(ish) pharmacy with some & fill in the necessary forms to get the prescription sent to me.

Come home next evening to find a message from the prescriber saying my profile has been changed to me being a private patient, so though he can write a private prescription for me (£25 fee) I will then have to get that filled privately also (up to £100). Declined his kind offer, saying I had no idea or notification of this unexpected change.

Get hold of GPs next morning (yesterday). After some too-ing and fro-ing calls, find out that GPs have declined the shared care agreement as they feel they don't have the necessary skills & training there to properly look after a patient with this particular psychiatric condition & the meds for that. So they won't prescribe.

Now down to about 4 days of meds. Will have to go back to the private company & get this sorted, and in the interim try to eke out the meds for the days most likely to be stressful.

What a fecking shit show!

Supersimkin2 · 21/10/2023 10:48

FFFS Allergic. Extra F in there deliberate.

That’s exasperating. Probably unlawful to boot.

Skills and training my arse. Try another GP at surgery. Or 111.

Can be sorted on Monday, but stressy for you. Cheer self up by looking for GP who practices in the 21st century? Get that form that gives you nhs scrips for £80 all in per year.

Supersimkin2 · 21/10/2023 10:53

These drug shortages are Brexit, incidentally, not that that helps you any. It’s the customs forms. Can you ask for another branded or generic med that does the same thing. I do it all the time, the pharmacist obliges but it has to be the pharmacist’s call.

Allergictoironing · 21/10/2023 11:18

Oh I don't need the pre-payment certificate - I'm over 60 so get all my NHS prescribed drugs for free. Which is A Good Thing, seeing as I'm getting 2 different painkillers, Omeprazole to protect my stomach from those, BP meds, anti histamine and anti depressants every 2 months 😆

The decision at the GPs was made by the senior partner of the practice, and apparently it is practice policy that they just don't do shared care agreements for ADHD patients so talking to a different GP there won't help.

I'll definitely be looking for a new GP practice once this is sorted out. Up until now I've put up with the current one's little foibles since they changed the management but this is getting silly. I know my DBro has had no issues with getting his to agree a shared partnership agreement with the same private psychiatry company, and he started his ADHD treatment as a private patient!

111 is next on my list if I don't here back from Psychiatry UK by lunchtime Monday, hopefully they will be able to at least get me some meds while I try to sort this all out.

Which means I will have to take one of my dwindling supply of meds to be able to get through Monday, and I was hoping not to have to do that as it's my WFH day. But that also means I will be able to make all the calls I need to do from home, with my own PC & all the records to hand rather than having to go out to my car with only my mobile to hand while I sort stuff.

At least I know DSis got to her accommodation OK last night, though it took them about 12-14 hours to get there I gather. Her destination was pretty much at the heart of the weather warnings near the East Coastal area, so she had to do most of the trip centrally then cut across.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 21/10/2023 11:27

Something that brightened my day this morning.
A work colleague has just shared this photo of her back garden. #NMS. 🐑

Reminds me of the Cravendale advert except with sheep.

There's been a lot of bad news here lately and I am sorry for everyone sharing it Flowers.

Haven't heard from Shady for a while...

Comedy Sheep are the best for healing the heart. Your colleague won’t have to mow ever again,Grumpy, cos obv she’s keeping the little loves.

Utterbunkum · 21/10/2023 13:27

Oliver has ridden out the storm indoors on the settee. I have been ill all week and he has been my nurse. He hasn't just been waiting for me to move my ar*e so he can steal my spot. Well, all right, he has.

I forgot to mention a possible breakthrough on the NMC front.

I had fish fingers the other night. I put them in the frying pan, and went on my computer. Let's face it, I probably went on MN...

Luckily I noticed a smell before the smoke detectors would have detected smoke. And the fish fingers remained perfectly edible. I'm in a ground floor flat, and opened the door from my bedroom onto the patio, to clear the air a bit. Then I went and made a Brew

Returning to the bedroom a few minutes later, what did I see but a little feline face peering in. (I knew the NMC by sight - white with patches of what I can only describe as marmalade.) There was a pause, I crouched down and made encouraging noises, but as I had expected, my visitor vanished. It's a startSmile

Cunning plan for the future: mid evening: cook chicken, don't burn it, leave patio door open in bedroom. Wait and hope.

TheShellBeach · 21/10/2023 17:25

Sounds promising, @ImNotWorthy

We're going out to a play tonight, which is something we rarely do.

DS2 has completed the housing application forms already, for our local council. I was horrified when he told me some of the things his dad had done. Anyway, I won't derail this thread, but I'm glad he'll be near me soon.

Linney, Suzy and Picard have been in the front garden for most of the day. A large area of Scotland has been very badly battered by Babet, as you all know.
But not here, for once.

Is everyone else all right?
I hope nobody's flooded.

OP posts:
LostCats · 21/10/2023 18:03

I’ve been wondering how you were Shell, knowing you’re in Scotland. Glad it’s been ok.
Do hope it works out for your DS. Would be nice and good to have him near you.

Been very rainy here in South West London. Even found Eko and Boone asleep on the old kids cot which is now a bench in the loft!
Starting to worry (more) about Boone. His back legs are starting to go again and the neurologist said eventually the meds wouldn’t work anymore. I’d hoped he’d be going till 18. But you never know …

TheShellBeach · 21/10/2023 23:06

We've just got back from the play (and it was awful, btw)
but when we were leaving, Linney followed us to the car.

When we returned (jaded and pissed off) Linney was standing by the gate, looking out for the car. As soon as he saw us, he hurried down to the car park in order to tell us off for abandoning him.

Good news Worthy and Shell. Fingers crossed.

Havelock was asleep on my half of the sofa again when I got in. Side eye of outrage issued when I tried to watch telly.

Papergirl1968 · 22/10/2023 11:55

DS2 is the qualified bouncer, isn't he, @TheShellBeach ? I'm sorry his dad is treating him so badly. It will be nice for you to have him closer.
Thinking of everyone who is worried about the health of their furbabies. ❤
I am a very bad cat slave. I thought I saw a black sock left on my bedroom radiator and grabbed it to put it away, only for it to twitch angrily out of my hand. It was not a sock but Socks' tail. She was sitting on the windowsill hidden by the curtains.
I don't know which of us was the more shocked. When it moved I thought it was a rodent of some kind. Or a giant black caterpillar. 😂

TheShellBeach · 22/10/2023 12:06

Oh Papergirl, poor old Socks. What a shock you both got.
Grin

Yes, DS2 is the newly qualified bouncer (!) and it's the only thing he's done after leaving school, and he's really proud of himself.

There are actually no career opportunities for bouncers in our little village, and he knows this, but he is happy nonetheless.

OP posts:
Papergirl1968 · 22/10/2023 12:12

I did think job opportunities for bouncers might be somewhat limited in your neck of the woods, but it's a great achievement for him and sounds like it's boosted his self confidence so that's the main thing. You must be very proud.

Utterbunkum · 22/10/2023 12:52

@TheShellBeach sorry if you already said and I missed it, what was the awful play? Or would you rather not say.

Gotta love when you come back to grief from the cat. 'How dare we leave the house! You should stay in so I can studiously ignore you/wash my bits right in front of the TV and nick your seat the minute you get up'.
