Stop chasing shrews, mice and birds and join us here.
Less well-behaved cats especially welcome.

@TheLongRider They look like teeny tiny tigers. Not surprised it's the queen who has her wits about her.

They do look incredibly like mini tigers. Did you actually meet either of the parents Long?

Supersimkin2 · 16/10/2023 19:53

Tiny tigers totes adorable. As is Benny, snuff, growing up so fast.

Prince has been in bed for three days. He got up to do a hairball in my slippers.

ShoutyCatSlave · 16/10/2023 19:58

Oh, she has various beds, pillows and floor rugs strategically placed next to radiators, to provide a mix of textures and softness, but it's just not good enough! I think she wants a squidgy radiator. 🤷

Little toe-rag.

This black cat has been breaking into enclosures at the local zoo, and evading attempts by the keepers to catch it. It no doubt wants to visit its big cousins.

How am I supposed to get into bed?

@TheShellBeach I feel your pain, although I have the opposite problem. In bed, but cannot move an inch due to purring machine lying across my legs.

I think I'm in favour as I finally gave in and lit the log burner this evening

Supersimkin2 · 17/10/2023 10:29

I got two duvets on and a huge ginger cat, very pleasant.

Went to smart lunch on Sunday, had to hide the roast beef in handbag as a touch chewy. Forgot about it.

The cats all had their MOTs yesterday.
The vet wants us to clean Karl and Lenny's teeth 🙀.
More worrying is that Sybil has lost weight - gone down from 3.8kg to 3.3kg in the last year. Going to take her in for bloods in a few weeks...

nettie434 · 17/10/2023 10:51

Handsome Linney is in his modelling bed linen mode. Hope you didn't have to sleep on the floor, Shell!

Actually, he jumped down and started kneading my cardigan, which had fallen on to the floor.

@Supersimkin2 Forgive me for asking, but couldn't you have left the meat on the side of your plate?
🤣

OP posts:
LostCats · 17/10/2023 11:05

But then NMC wouldn’t have had a tasty yum snack later on 🤣

ImNotWorthy · 17/10/2023 15:55

One of the nice things about having pet rats is that they are omnivores. If I went to a nice restaurant I would wrap some tasty morsels in a paper napkin, and bring them home for the rats. They also could have teeny Christmas dinners, and if you gave them an intact walnut in its shell they were ecstatic Grin

I continued the practice after I stopped keeping rats, and DCat Midnight came to live with us. But I only brought back tasty bits of meat...

TheShellBeach · 17/10/2023 16:02

Linney, getting thoroughly stroked by Mr SB.
I wish you could hear him purring.
Linney, I mean - not Mr SB.

Yes, but it would have been too obvious.
NMC relished it.

See what the blood tests say Grumpy, Sybil certainly looks in the very peak of health and beauty. Clean their teeth?!?

Sorry Grumpy I missed this yesterday.
Can you take Sybil in for blood tests in a couple of days? It may be something really easy to treat, like hyperthyroidism. Or even diabetes. She's about 12 now, I think.

You must be worried, but elderly cats often get metabolic stuff wrong with them.

We've had two cats with hyperthyroidism and it was easy to treat.

I hope it's nothing serious.

OP posts:
LostCats · 18/10/2023 12:18

Could it be that Sybil is pining for her love TC?

Jokes aside, I do hope she is ok. Beautiful girl. Very best wishes from the Lost Cats.

Boone has taken the egg chair. I have been told to leave

TheShellBeach · 18/10/2023 15:55

BTW @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats how does the vet suggest you brush your cats' teeth?

I can't think of a single cat which we've had over the years who would cooperate with this.

I can imagine a great many wounds being inflicted on the person with the toothbrush, though.

OP posts:
Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 18/10/2023 19:20

Thanks all - our vet is very busy so it'll be a few weeks before Sybil can have her bloods done.
She is absolutely fine otherwise, she's always been skinny and we hadn't noticed the drop in weight. But yes, it is a bit worrying, as while we've had cats that have lived to their late teens (and Monty who got to 20), I've also had cats who didn't get much beyond their 13th birthday.
Anyway - tonight Sybil is monitoring me badly decanting a bottle of port (irritatingly the cork crumbled, hence the filter).

Further Adventures of the Excellent Cats
RumNotRun · 18/10/2023 21:14

She looks very interested in the port, bless her

ImNotWorthy · 18/10/2023 23:36

I don't actually drink, as a rule. And I don't do much for Christmas, except a few cards, a few decorations, and lots of nice food. But to my surprise I have just started a Christmas list. It says "port and Stilton." Thanks, Sybil and @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats WineWine

Supersimkin2 · 19/10/2023 13:24

Hic! Sybil might feel like a crumb or two
of Stilton with that port to finish off her repast, Grumpy. Perfect accompaniment to AGAIL.

Havelock caught tasting a snail this am.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 19/10/2023 13:53

I'd feel very guilty if bloods were to show that Sybil had gout...

Defiantlynot41 · 19/10/2023 13:58

I have obviously failed in my slave duty this morning (a slice of roast turkey was not good enough) and dcat 2 has just caught her own lunch - a large mouse 🐁! At 17 I really thought those days were over. Her sister was interested (but not interested enough to fend for herself, obviously)
