Stop chasing shrews, mice and birds and join us here.
Less well-behaved cats especially welcome.

What lovely pictures of Tobias and Toad.

Amazed that you are home and already seeing the benefits, Allergic.

nettie434 · 16/09/2023 21:39

Met this cat who thinks he is a lion finial today. It was quite a busy road and he was by a bus stop. Lots of people tried to stroke him but he clearly didn't like any interference with his important job of being a stone lion

Fourth plinth of Trafalgar Sq, clearly. He’s gorgeous.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 17/09/2023 14:15

As a follow on from the marvellous Finial Lion cat, we discovered this chap sitting neatly outside the Co-op in Lazonby.
Apparently he's there every day. Needless to say we sat down to say hello and he immediately got on DS2's lap and curled up. He delayed our walk somewhat 🤣.

I may have to leave The Litter Tray 😔 The RSPCA are building a case against me.

Leroy had only three and a half biscuits in his bowl, plus a few crumbs. The trauma 😱

I advised against the RSPCA and have pointed out that he'd be straight for euthanasia 'cause of his FIV, but he's carrying on as if death were preferable to existing with his biscuit bowl in that state.

🙄

I think you're safe.

Since Leroy, in common with every other cat on the planet, can neither write nor use the internet, the message will never be received. You may be castigated when Leroy bumps into his pals, but I do not think he can send emails. Or phone people up.

(I did have a cat once who sent an email, but that was only because she walked across my keyboard and pressed the Enter button - even Cheilidh could not have composed the ranty message I was in the process of sending my sister)

And even Cheilidh could not have predicted my sister's furious response to the email

Ha! Picard is in trouble.

His human assistants suddenly appeared in my front garden yesterday. The mother had brought one of the children. Picard was sitting on my window sill (as usual).

I just heard the words: "So this is where you go to every day - c'mon, Picard - the children are missing you" and a pair of hands grabbed Picard and removed him.

Linney raised his eyebrows and waved to Picard as he was manhandled away.

That cat is in heaven Rum 😁

I'm not too worried really Shell. Leroy will come and tell me how much he loves me, get on my lap, and give me cuddles in a few minutes. I know he will. He's outside, it's pissing down, and he's soaked 🤦🏼‍♀️

I wish, but the cat is as DIY avoidant as I am! My friend used to do the DIY and renovating but his new girlfriend won't let him be friends with me anymore 🙄 One day I'll get my arse in gear and actually do some painting. Maybe.

HouseofHolbein · 18/09/2023 06:27

@RumNotRun my hallway looks like that after my cats destroyed the wallpaper. My son is a painter and decorator who lives with me. Three years I've been waiting for him to prep and paint the walls for me 😭😭

RumNotRun · 18/09/2023 07:33

At the top of the stairs is a huge missing bit of wallpaper. Raven decided that strip caused her offence so she slowly peeled it away. Little bugger. My ceilings are really high so I think I'll be able to strip the lining paper but I just won't be able to reapply it or paint.

LostCats · 18/09/2023 08:32

All, can I ask for some recommendations?
We want to get Boone a cat tree (or anything similar) so he can look out the window in the office. However he can’t jump anymore so it needs stairs. And it has to be 1.1m high minimum. Not much luck looking so far so thought I’d ask those who I knew may know ☺️

Allergictoironing · 18/09/2023 09:10

Look out for the trees with little ramps. some have actual steps as well. Plenty on Amazon at a reasonable price.

You could also consider the wall mounted cat stairs e.g. These ones . In my case, I've arranged various bits & pieces by the window so Boycat (who was a) clumsy, b) thick and c) scared of everything) could get up there in easy stages so a low storage box next to an ottoman, another smallish box on top of the ottoman then he was only a few inches shy of the windowsill. Tobias with his short little legs tends to use that method now

Allergictoironing · 18/09/2023 09:19

Damn you Lost - I'm now browsing Amazon & drooling!

This one seems to be climbable (rather than jump) just about all the way to the top.

Of course THIS would be perfect apart from 2 things. a) it would fill the whole study probably and b) it costs just shy of £8k!!!

LostCats · 18/09/2023 10:00

Ahahaha thank you Allergic!!!
I love the first one! I’m going to measure it up for office. There’s a small space to fit it in. Also I’m going to think about implementing your other idea of small ramps and boxes etc as that may be easier for him.
He’s such a nosy blighter and used to spend hours in our old flat on the windowsill. Everyone used to say they knew which was ours because of the black cat in front of the white voile curtains 😆
