Wow Allergic. I admire that you can WFH and worry about spider welfare this morning. Hope all goes well this afternoon.

Allergictoironing · 13/09/2023 12:15

Well I said WORK from home, but mostly not working all that hard!
Call with my team mate to update her on one thing and to tell her the planned dates for something else so she knew nothing was needed until after I get back in.
Get my flexi-time sheet up to date & send off to the boss.
Update my purchase card receipts on line.
Set my out of office on.
Chat with my lovely boss.

Somehow managed to make that last 3:45 hours lol.

Not really stressed about this afternoon. I'm a veteran of "proper" operations needing general anesthetics etc, so a 10 minute procedure under local pain relief only should be a comparative doddle (fingers crossed & touching wood).

Plus might as well keep my mind off things with the joys of spreadsheets & Teams chats...

TheShellBeach · 13/09/2023 13:26

Allergic, are you just demonstrating the truth of that old MN chestnut, that people who WFH don't actually do any work?

TheShellBeach · 13/09/2023 13:30

Disclaimer.
I have never WFH in my life, and I know jolly well that I'd just eat ice cream all day, and watch back to back episodes of Ambulance if I had the opportunity to do so.

Further disclaimer - you can't deliver babies efficiently over the phone.......... certainly not if you've got a spoon in a giant tub of Mackie's.

Allergictoironing · 13/09/2023 13:37

Lol no Shell - it's just this one day. I much prefer in office work, and I managed to get everything important cleared up before today. Boss wouldn't give me any more as she knew I was off at 12 noon :)

TheShellBeach · 13/09/2023 13:47

I go to a lunch club for old people in my village and one of the regular attenders didn't show up one week - when we assembled the next time, he said he'd been having his cataracts done.

He was delighted with the vast improvement in his eyesight.

All good, you would think.
Except he is the village taxi-driver......................

Sex. That’s what the vast spiders are after. They’re looking for the ladeez.

I’m pigsick of being tormented by inappropriately aroused arachnids.

I always wonder why cats like eating spiders.
They do not look very appetising to me.

If only they would make it clear which type of spider they're looking for. The one I saw yesterday didn't look like either the cellar spiders (they live in my kitchen) or the big fat house spiders (utility room and by kitchen window) so I couldn't direct her to where she needed to go. I'd gladly play spider matchmaker 😁

I do love your way with words Supersimkin2.Next time I see a big spider I won't feel scared. I will just shout that it is a frustrated sex fiend who couldn't pull another spider if it waved all 8 legs at it in a come hither way.

This thread is cracking me up at the moment.

So I go away on holiday and in my absence this thread descends into smutty discussions of inappropriately aroused arachnids. I'm outraged 🤣.
I can report finding a very friendly 'holiday cat' at Sizergh Castle in Cumbria. Just sunning itself on one of the paths in the gardens - perfectly happy to be stroked and tummy tickled.
Hope all went well today Allergic 👍

coastergirl · 13/09/2023 22:47

Inappropriately aroused arachnids cracked me up. As did the idea of a spider not being able to pull even if it waved all 8 legs at once in a come hither way 😂🕷

Allergictoironing · 14/09/2023 08:49

Oh. My. Gods!

Incredible difference to my sight even after 1 day Clarity of anything over about 18 inches is perfect through the eye that got done, and as I was originally a bit long sighted that's fine. And as for real "distance" viewing - amazing! And it's really brought home to me just how bad it had got in such a short space of time, especially comparing the bionic eye with the previously "better" eye. I've had to pop the right lens out of a cheap-ish pair of prescription specs so I can see out of both eyes.

Operation really quick & painless, but OMG the current scratchy feeling in that eye. No water to get in it for 2 weeks (!), only allowed to clean it very gently with cotton pads & boiled cooled water, single swipe. Eye drops 4 x daily and they sting. No lifting, nothing like dusting or vacuuming that may raise dust, such a pity 😂. Clear eye shield iover night for a week.

But worth every little irritation 😎😍👁

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 14/09/2023 10:04

Very pleased to hear that Allergic. You are much braver than I am. I'm hopelessly squeamish about things like that. I've got rubbish eyesight already - don't know what I'll do if I ever get cataracts on top 😎.

Allergictoironing · 14/09/2023 10:44

I'm usually squeamish about eyes too, the very thought of contact lenses makes me panic, and my biggest fear beforehand was how I would react to seeing the surgeon's hand approaching with instruments aimed at my eye. But actually you can't see anything apart from the really bright light shining in your eye, and thanks to the anesthetic drops you don't feel anything apart from the coldness of the water they keep flushing it with.

Can't wait now until they can do the other one!

LostCats · 14/09/2023 11:01

That’s AWESOME Allergic!! So glad it’s been so brilliant.

Eko sends best wishes to you and Rum, by doing the strangest pose he’s ever done (and that’s saying something!)

TheShellBeach · 14/09/2023 11:23

That's such good news, Allergic!
I'll have to get mine done at some point, when they get bad enough.
I'm glad it went well for you.

@LostCats Would Eko like a virtual tummy rub?

OP posts:
LostCats · 14/09/2023 11:27

Shell, ooh yes, he loves a tummy rub. And it’s such a soft tummy too!

Glad you're ok and already "seeing" the benefits, Allergic.

RumNotRun · 14/09/2023 18:29

That is indeed a strange position Eko, but I am sending you lots of tummy tickles.

Toad has got a new box. He will only leave it for food (and hopefully to use the litter tray!) He sends salutations to all felines on the thread, especially his namesake Tobias.
