Hello Oliver and Uterbunkum. Oliver is in that irritating Scrabble position when he has some good letters (e.g. corned) but nowhere to put them.

Nah - that's a Q 😱

Shame 'cause if there was an available E I'd got ENCODE or ENROBE...

I think Oliver's next move was a wise one 😁

nettie434 · 18/09/2023 17:44

Oh no, Yes! I can see now. Sacked as Oliver's Scrabble assistant before I've even started.

Allergictoironing · 18/09/2023 21:50

Boy in a Box.

This is where Tobias waits to be seated for his meals. He wanders in the room and sits in there until I go into the kitchen to fetch their food. Please excuse the mess - not allowed to do bending or lifting, or anything that moves dust around like hoovering, after the eye op for another week yet.

Utterbunkum · 18/09/2023 22:43

@nettie434 don't beat yourself up, it's hard to see. Oliver would deffo sack me as his Scrabble assistant if it wasn't for the fact that I also put food in his bowl 😜

TheShellBeach · 18/09/2023 22:46

Allergic, Tobias cracks me up.

He cracks me up too sometimes Shell. He has mad half hours like kittens do, crazily playing with toy mice & the like, commentating to me all the time. He makes the strangest noises, only way to get close is think if a wood pigeon on 40 fags a day? When he play fights with Girlcat, the noise sounds like he's being strangled. He proudly announces to the world in his loudest meow his successful use of the litter tray.

I can stroke every part of his body when he's eating downstairs now, but gods forbid I try when he's eating upstairs in their room - though the swipes are with claws away mostly rather than fully extended. Obviously touching is still not permitted when he isn't eating his wet food, despite the fact he is clearly enjoying the petting & leaning into it during meals.

All in all a rather complex cat, but he's coming along nicely.

Utterbunkum · 19/09/2023 11:10

@Allergictoironing they do have their foibles, but some cats are definitely more complex than others.

nettie434 · 19/09/2023 16:23

Tobias is such a handsome chap.

I used to be quite good at Scrabble, Utterbumkum but I don't play regularly any more and am now quite dreadful. My friends bought themselves the official Scrabble dictionary during lock down which has got some neat 2 and 3 letter words. Their cat used to sit on the dictionary so I don't think they ever really got to benefit from it.

Talking of lock down, is Picard still confined to barracks, Shell?

No! Picard turned up today and Linney welcomed him with open paws.

Last day of the holidays tomorrow. 😫
Went for lunch at gardens near Penrith. We ended up acquiring an extra seat to create space for Misty the restaurant cat, who joined us for the duration of our meal.

Now that is a very fine cat indeed!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/09/2023 17:32

Very friendly too and also enjoyed a couple of bits of tuna from Mrs Grumpy's tuna nicoise salad

Toddlerteaplease · 20/09/2023 17:42

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats where is this place? My family live in a Penrith I need to visit!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/09/2023 17:55

Larch Cottage Nurseries.in Melkinthorpe.
Brilliant location for a restaurant. Sat in the upstairs balcony with this view. Felt like being in the Med! Strongly recommended.

Did Misty order the House Special?

The waitress did ask us what Misty had ordered 😁.

No wonder she was friendly then.

I hope you aren't suggesting that this was merely cupboard love? 😮🤣.
To be fair she sat with us for the whole meal, and just got some deliberately left over tuna from Mrs G after we'd all finished eating

JoanOgden · 20/09/2023 19:39

Ah, you are a proper cat whisperer, Grumpy - and very lucky with the weather, it's been vile here. The cat and I both looked at the driving rain and decided to stay inside all day.

Sensible pair. Leroy went out and I discovered, to my horror, that even the chair under the tree was soaked 😱 That chair never gets wet!

Why yes, yes he did settle his soggy self on my lap when we came back in 🙄

Linney has spent most of today out in the rain.
By his own choice, of course.
In vain did Mr. SB stand at the door, pleading with him to come in.
It was pitiful. Mr. SB is such a softie. Linney ignored him and sat pointedly under the garden chair, sheltering.

Utterbunkum · 21/09/2023 06:40

@TheShellBeach oh, the times we have spent standing at the door imploring the wee daftie to come in out of the rain. We came to the conclusion it's because he likes being towelled down. He has his own little blue towel for the purpose.

TheShellBeach · 21/09/2023 10:55

Where in Scotland are you, @Utterbunkum ?
We're in Argyll, land of the rain and the rain and the rain.
I actually persuaded Mr. SB to take down the hurly in the garden, since it was never worth hanging anything out to dry.
I got me a washer dryer instead.

Somebody is being a twat. Somebody jumped on my keyboard then walked across it, somehow making it stop working. I had to restart my computer as I couldn't work out what the little asshole had pressed. Toby Tobias Toad (full name cause he's in trouble) is now attempting to look sweet and innocent 😇
