Benny was a cat in TC's gang was he not?

He's gorgeous :)❤

And all the best to your DH, Yet. Flowers

RumNotRun · 20/07/2023 09:11

This was TC's Benny.

Ben is my favourite nephew's name (he's my only nephew) so I think it's a great name for your new addition

You'll now have to rename Walter "the Jets" so you can have Benny and the Jets. /Elton John reference

coastergirl · 20/07/2023 11:19

Omg Benny and the jets. Love it!

YesItsMeIDontCare · 20/07/2023 11:56

I think coaster needs a name change to OfficerDibble 😁

Papergirl1968 · 20/07/2023 12:14

Benny is beautiful, @coastergirl!
My relationship with dd2 has completely broken down, @TheShellBeach .
I've seen the baby twice in the two months since dd left home, both times for only 15 minutes or so. Her coming back home is not going to work.
It just about broke my heart to build a bond with the baby and then have her ripped away, and despite what dd says, she has definitely used her baby as a weapon to hurt me, so while I did consider asking for access visits, I've now decided not to because I need to protect myself from further hurt.
I still have says when I'm very emotional but I've started having couselling and I'm feeling stronger because the counsellor has been able to shed some light on why both dds behave as they do. Just to have someone impartial say "it's not your fault" has made so much difference .
My DM is dying and probably only has weeks left to live so I'm concentrating on myself and her for now, and within the next few years will be relocating to the coast and rebuilding my life.
The pets are all, in their different ways, a huge comfort.

HouseofHolbein · 20/07/2023 12:17

I'm so sorry @Papergirl1968 💕 it's hard to be estranged from your child it always feels like people will judge .

If you ever want to chat I'm here x lots of people let me offload and it helped me tbh.

And where are you planning to move to? We went from Solihull to north Devon 😊

Defiantlynot41 · 20/07/2023 12:29

@Papergirl1968 please count on the support of the litter tray and all our pets. Wishing you strength

Papergirl1968 · 20/07/2023 12:33

Thanks, @HouseofHolbein , I really appreciate that. It's been quite a traumatic few months and although it was the fact I was still very emotional about the neurosurgery that drove me to seek help, I think it was actually just the icing on the cake after years of problems with both dds.I
It was actually quite empowering to say "I've had 14 years of your crap, you're both adults now I'm done here." Sadly I can see dgd having the same issues unless dd gets her act together.
I'm in the Black Country, but hoping to move to Wales.

HouseofHolbein · 20/07/2023 12:39

I'm from Wednesbury originally 😊 spend a lot of time saying I'm not a brummie I'm a yamyam since we moved down here 🤣🤣

Always used to holiday in Wales when I was younger. North Wales near Porthmadog 😊

Papergirl1968 · 20/07/2023 13:01

Yamyam! 😂
I'm in Dudley so not far. Hoping to move to Tywyn.
A friend of mine has just moved to your neck of the woods though, Westwood Ho, and loves it.
Thanks, @Defiantlynot41 I love the support on here, whether it's a cat related problem or not.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 20/07/2023 13:03

Good for you @Papergirl1968 I've often thought you should tell them both to get stuffed. Moving to the coast is an excellent idea. It's what I want to do as well.

I'm sorry @YesItsMeIDontCare. I know what it feels like.

(I used to be fluffycloudland77 but with losing dh I'm not feeling fluffy anymore)

I walked to Westward Ho! last night 😊 was a lovely evening. We are in Bideford which suited better with the kids and school etc.

TheShellBeach · 20/07/2023 13:51

Wow, @Papergirl1968 that's a lot to go through. I am so sorry you're having all this upset.

I do agree that we on the Litter Tray somehow manage to give support to one another, whatever the problem - cat-related or family, or illness in ourselves or our loved ones.

It's a valuable place to come and offload.
I hereby offer gin, chocolate and cake and a listening ear to anyone currently suffering.

I used to go out with a bloke from Bideford.

He cheated on me with another woman, so I got my friend to drive us both down to Bideford so that I could confront him.
Lo and behold, she was not there at the time, but he Confessed All anyway, and his mother (who was a delightful woman) took me to her house for a few days and let me play her piano and eat her wonderful food.

It's unusual for a mother not to stick up for her son, but she was entirely prepared to hear me call him every name under the sun.

Thank you, Mrs. S. I have never forgotten you.

@HouseofHolbein - considering where I live and where I'd like to live, I hate you right now 😭 Soz 😁

@FormerlyPathologicallyHappy - thank you 😊

(((hugs))) to everyone going through difficult times, we're all here for each other.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/07/2023 16:29

My mum was another of these Black Country types - born and bred in Wednesfield in the early 1920s. She didn't really have a black country accent, except whenever as a kid we visited my aunts and uncles, her accent switched straight back on as if she'd never moved away 😁.

Sorry you're still struggling with your DD Paper - hope the therapeutic effect of the litter tray helps a bit at least and hope things improve for you.

Allergictoironing · 20/07/2023 18:44

I had a Black Country BF years ago, born in Dudley then moved to Wednesbury in his teens. His accent wasn't TOO thick unless he was talking to his local mates, then it got so broad I could barely understand sometimes.

And he would spell texts in his accent - virtually unreadable. I would have to read them aloud to myself trying to use his accent to understand what he was trying to say in them.

Papergirl1968 · 20/07/2023 18:45

Black country folk really are the salt of the earth. It's just not the most picturesque place to live.
That is a very fine photo of Linney.

TheLongRider · 20/07/2023 19:47

Can I put in a claim too? Mum's from Brum but definitely doesn't have the accent. She was born pre-war and went to a convent school so she sounds like her late majesty, elocution lessons don'tcha know.

Support to all Litter Tray residents going through a hard time. I offer a picture of my current foster kittens, a pair of cheeky brothers.

@Papergirl1968 I know I don't know you in real life, but from what I know of you from your posts IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT.

Come to Wales, as you know it's awesome here.

House - my sister lived in Northam, just down the road from you. She's gone to live in Mexico for a year but still has her home base in Northam. When I go to visit we often walk across The Burrows and the beach to Westward Ho. There's a great restaurant round there somewhere called Pig on a Hill. Definitely worth a visit if it's not too far from you.

nettie434 · 20/07/2023 20:07

Papergirl1968 I am sorry that you have been through so much. It's good that the counselling is helping.

I don't even have my own cat (although I do a lot of cat sitting for friends) but I like reading all the posts here. It's very soothing and there are lots of lovely cats and posters!

HouseofHolbein · 20/07/2023 20:33

@RumNotRun sadly pig on the hill didn't really survive covid 😢 a version of it has moved to westward Ho and is the pig on the beach. Food is less fancy these days.

Our treat place is the pier house. Nothing better than eating a meal overlooking the sea 💕

Aww, is Hobbs sulking about his ruined life in the garden?
