What time does your cat wake you up in the morning?

My cat starts hassling me at sunrise for food, everyday. He will scratch at my door and meow until he is fed.

I have had him for a year (he was a kitten when I got him) and he's always been this way. I tried shutting him in the living room overnight but he was whining all night.

I don't think it's just food either - sometimes I will get up and feed him early, and he will eat his food and then return doing the same thing.

They dont. They have unlimited biscuits throughout the day, and only get wet food in the evening. So they just help themselves to dried food whenever they want (it’s in an auto feeder).

My cats are locked in the dining room (with food, water, beds and a cat flap to get outside to the garden). They have unlimited biscuits and seem to hate wet food no matter what brand we buy so they don't wake us in the morning. They don't even acknowledge me when I open the dining room door in the morning !

Maybe get your cat's thyroid levels checked.
Mine started doing the same, get woken up between 4-6am daily.
Maybe try and keep room cat sleeps in very dark so no waking up at sunrise.
Mine is very old though , early demands for food only happened when she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidsm with constantly
wanting to eat/miaowing/losing weight.

Neither of them do. Only when we wake do they start to meow and fuss for food

At about 4:30 the 12 year old starts patting my face with a soft paw because she wants a cuddle then her and the kitten start chasing each other round the house ike a herd of elephants. It's very cute but much much too early.
I cant lock the old cat out because she's very needy and gets distressed if she can't get to me.

Usually 6 which is perfect as my alarm goes off at 6.03. For the last two weeks, they have be trotting in as early as 4.20. It is foe food, they jsut want to play outside so I open the door for them and head back to bed.

Mine do the same at sunrise then jump on me in the bathroom trying to lick and purr all over me rubbing their head on me like a long lost kitten.

They have biscuits available all the time.

I do remember in my 20's I used to feed my cat at 3am when I got in from a club to avoid the morning wake up.

Mine has access to dry food all the time and the cat flap is open so she leaves me alone!

Lenny comes up for 5 minutes to purr and say hello at about 4.30 each morning. Just enough time to ensure I'm properly woken and disturbed
He's a twat too. 😹

Ours don't usually. There is normally some good left down from previous night. They can get out the cat flap. Sometimes they get up after me.

Make sure your cat is tired, play with it in the evening. Play chase and catch. Throw balls, or with a laser. If you are home during the day do this multiple times so the cat doesn't sleep all day.

Sunrise 4-4.30am at the moment. There is dry food down. But one of them paws my face until I acknowledge them. Tried to lock them out of my bedroom but they then yell at my door and wake everybody up. They are orientals and very dog like. Have a day of gardening planned and I will have my cats helping most of the day as they follow me around. Sort of makes up for the early waking.

Mine wake me anytime from 3 onwards depending on the day, what they need to tell me, if the weather is bad, if they want a cuddle or sometimes just for fun.

Much of the year my cat sleeps until 7ish, but at the moment she is waking at dawn and comes over to lick my ear and lie on the pillow next to my face obstructing my breathing.

I refuse to get up at that hour so I just cuddle her a bit and go to sleep again, then she falls asleep too.

I'm away this weekend and actually sort of miss itHmm

About 7. The Bengal was 4:30 so he slept in the kitchen.
