Great progress Allergic. Still camera shy? Hint hint

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 07/04/2023 10:20

Very pleased to hear of Tobias' progress, that all sounds very positive. He's clearly having fun, even if he's not really started including you yet!

On the subject of cat weigh-ins, both Karl and Lenny are just under 4kg, they both seem slightly built to me, particularly Karl who is very 'leggy'.
Sybil is a similar weight at 3.8kg.
Basil is nearer 6kg (he's a proper cat 🤣).
Karl and Lenny are definitely the lightest males we've ever had, I wonder if it might be related to their very early neutering (9 weeks)

TheShellBeach · 07/04/2023 10:35

Allergic, I love hearing how Tobias is getting on.
Girlcat seems to be accepting him, too.

We definitely have some teeny tiny adult cats on here. My DCat2 is 2.8kg and looks like a teenage kitten despite being 17 years old. Caused some consternation last year when she was poorly and went to 2.4kg.

Her sister is just under 4kg

I thinkOllie is another team teeny isn't he @Maple2023 ?

2.8kg!!

Sorry I've been a bit quiet, my work has um, burnt down

Papergirl1968 · 07/04/2023 11:25

It has as well, @Maple2023 ! I just googled it. It wasn't Ollie commiting arson, was it? Just so mama could give him her undivided attention?

Yeah there was a lot of "sorry what's the punchline?" This morning
Hopefully it wasn't paws, he was AWOL last night

YetAnotherSpartacus · 07/04/2023 12:18

I didn't realise you worked somewhere so posh!

Assuming your work is tangentially cat related.

lollipoprainbow · 07/04/2023 12:29

This one still is ❤️❤️

Did someone leave a car battery on charge? 🤨 @Maple2023

No, i can't really comment yet but it doesn't appear to be car related or arson Smile

You left your hair straighteners on, didn't you... 😁

Seriously though, is everything OK? You're not about to lose your job I hope!

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 07/04/2023 15:24

They’ll find a way around it, motor trade operates on small margins and closing isn’t an option.

Wouldn't be surprised if a load of mobile offices are being priced up though. Lucky it’s summer though.

LostCats · 07/04/2023 15:32

Yeah. Really hope your job is safe @Maple2023!

Maple2023 · 07/04/2023 15:38

Nope job is absolutely fine. They need us! It's just a matter of how to work but luckily I WFH, it's the rest of the team that's an issue

headache · 07/04/2023 20:46

I’ve been feeling so poorly today, the dog and mini black panther have been keeping me company on my bed today, haven’t seen the grey kitten he usually love bombs me at some point, the fatties haven’t been upstairs today at all, our ginger Tom and tortie girl brother and sister 7kg a piece, once I work out the best way of doing it they are both going on a diet. Katkin was working out £240 a month for the 4 of them ouch!

It was!

I'm glad I remember that right. It's caused me much amusement so I was so pleased you posted it.

Impressed to read about Tobias's progress, Allergic.

Hope everyone at your work is ok, Maple.

Allergictoironing · 08/04/2023 10:57

Couple of pics for Tobias's fans. One taken this morning is almost identical to the one I posted about a month ago - he still seems to spend almost the entire day igloo-bound. The other from when I caught him napping (literally!) the other day on his bed.

It was a real lockdown delight from memory.

Glad to see Tobias is settling in!

That will be his bed soon.

Allergictoironing · 08/04/2023 14:40

Oh it's already referred to as "his" bed in "his" room.

Very proud of him this afternoon. Just had DSis & DNephew no.4 round for a few hours. Sent (adult) DNephew upstairs with a slice of cooked chicken, which apparently Tobias took pieces of from his hand politely without snatching.

@Allergictoironing Tobias is just lovely glad he seems to be settling in well

Supersimkin2 · 09/04/2023 21:16

Tobias! The Easter rising! He is such a dear, gentle boy.

He looks like he might love you already Allergic.

Happy Easter one and all. Havelock had the lamb off my plate while me and NDN were bringing in the 🍷.

Allergictoironing · 10/04/2023 08:33

I'm starting to think Girlcat is being a bit of a bully towards Tobias. He had summoned enough courage to start coming down the stairs the other evening when I was watching and she chased him back up. On his night time explorations, I've heard him go downstairs a couple of times (evidenced by the door mat moving etc), but he's usually come back up in a bit of a hurry and I'm pretty sure I can hear more than 1 set of thundering paws on the stairs.

Last couple of nights (since the chasing back upstairs incident, he's kept to rampaging around upstairs.

I'm wondering if Girlcat has decided that he can stay upstairs, but downstairs is HER territory. I've also noticed last few days she's spending less time in my bedroom & more on the back of the sofa, but that could just be because I'm home for the holidays.

Papergirl1968 · 10/04/2023 11:31

It sounds like it, Allergic.
I love Matt to bits but he definitely bullies Socks. I've seen him give her the occasional sneaky slap, and he regularly chases her off when I'm trying to call her in. It took another hour to get her in last night after he sent her off and I only managed it then by shutting Matt and the dog away. The dog doesn't bully as such but Socks is scared of her exuberance.
Matt also bullies the dog, hissing and growling at her, and occasionally lunging at her or smacking her. The dog (very powerful Staffie cross) has learned to give him a wide berth but occasionally tries to play with him which outrages Matt.
Size counts for nothing. Matt definitely knows his place as oldest, longest here and most dominant pet in our house!

Supersimkin2 · 10/04/2023 12:14

Matt’s da Boss. That’s fair enough.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 10/04/2023 20:33

They may think they are Gods but it doesn't stop them being bloody idiots sometimes.
Lenny just ran round from next door, was obviously going too quickly and slipped into the river. Now back inside with a very soggy back end and tail.

DS2 saw it happen, apparently Lenny was yelling at a cat on the opposite bank prior to his mad dash.
I wouldn't generally worry about this, but we are on flood alert at present and the flow is still pretty quick. That's one of his lives used up I think.
