Wow, @Kyse23 we're not judging you!
When our two cats (Buster and McVicar) died three years ago, within eight days of one another, DH and I were broken.
Four weeks later, Emerald and Linney moved in.
They'd been on the Cats Protection website for ages when we looked tentatively. They were being overlooked and ignored because they were old and because Linney had a heart condition so his insurance was expensive.
Cats who were on there after them were being adopted.
It broke our hearts. I'm crying now, thinking about people dismissing them.

Anyway, we took them.
And they're still with us, and wonderful.

Allergictoironing · 20/05/2023 14:51

No judgement from me either. I went to the shelter I'd got mine originally as soon as I was able, and Tobias came home a week later as that shelter won't let the cats go without an extra vet check.

If it's the right one, then it's right. If it isn't, then you just wait until the right one comes along. I was completely prepared to go home catless and try again in a few weeks before I saw Tobias, looked at around 10-15 cats before him as I went round the rescue.

No one has the right to judge you. And if they do, send them my way and I'll duff them up.

I hope he's the right cat for you, Kyse.

TheShellBeach · 20/05/2023 14:53

What's the cat's name. Kyse?

JoanOgden · 20/05/2023 15:02

Ollie was always good at bringing needy cats home...

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 20/05/2023 15:09

@Kyse23 If it makes you feel any better I had people suggesting I wouldn't have any trouble finding another dh before mine was even dead, one of them was dh himself. It's not an Ollie replacement it's another cat who needs a loving home and a new cat would have a whole new set of quirks but they could never be as quirky as an Ollie.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 20/05/2023 15:10

If the time wasn't right Kyse you would not have seen him. You said Ollie would send one and he has.
He's at Rainbow Bridge now, playing happily, and will be waiting for you in warm sunshine 🌈

Sending love and (((hugs))) x

RumNotRun · 20/05/2023 15:24

No judgement here! I wasn't going to get any more cats after Alizè and Pigeon were PTS (admittedly I did have five still here) but ended up adopting Fred and Frank within a couple of weeks. If the car is right for you then sod what anyone else thinks anyway.

TheLongRider · 20/05/2023 15:48

Best of luck Kyse23, the right cat will be there for you. No judgement from me either. Taz has just gone to his forever home with two women who will spoil him rotten. I'm already missing him and planning the next foster.

coastergirl · 20/05/2023 16:26

No judgement here either. You have to do what's right for you, and whatever very lucky cat gets to come home with you. Ollie would approve too. He was good at bringing you cats.

TheShellBeach · 20/05/2023 14:53

What's the cat's name. Kyse?

Thank you everyone

His name is Shady. He likes head bumps, dribbles when he's happy and has a very loud purr they said. As well as not being the brightest cat, she said if he wants to hide he thinks sticking his head under something makes him invisible

Aw. He sounds perfect. When are you going to see him?

Florissant · 20/05/2023 19:07

He sounds a real cutie.

LostCats · 20/05/2023 20:00

Aw! He sounds wonderful!!

coastergirl · 20/05/2023 22:35

Omg he sounds exactly like Walter! How old is he? If he shares other characteristics with Walter, he might also believe that there is different weather to be found out of the front door to the back door, or indeed think they are completely different places (Walt's current annoying quirk is to insist on being let out of the front door, when the back one is open. To be clear, they are just at opposite ends of one big room. Big, daft, lovable idiot ♥️

Shady is a lovely name. He sounds entirely dear.

NewBootsAndRanty · 21/05/2023 00:55

After abandoning it for the last year for reasons unknown, Squidge has decided to occupy the cave bit of her cat tree. I keep sticking my hand in for a chin tickle / to tell her how ace she is and what giant paws she has Smile

Tobias pics for your delectation. Saw him sitting at the top of the stairs & went to grab my phone, when I came back he was lounging. Obviously he wasn't going to stay there when I went up to bed so sauntered (note not fled) into his room. Looked in & saw him on the windowsill.

Tobias is clearly being much more relaxed - love the lounging pic. He's training you well 😼.

Florissant · 21/05/2023 08:59

Welcome to the wider world, Tobias! Come out and play more. You'll have fun!

Allergictoironing · 21/05/2023 09:36

He came wandering into the living room yesterday when Girlcat and I were lying on the sofa together. Confidently walked towards the food & water bowls, then suddenly realised that I was there. Quick retreat!

Well Taz has landed on his paws. This is a photo I received from his new people two hours after he got to his new house. He is the picture of contentment.

This is why I foster cats, knowing that this will be the best outcome for them
