Thug cat part 5 - For he will not do destruction, if he is well-fed, neither will he spit without provocation.

Christopher Smart had clearly never met TC.
Due to popular demand (and a fear of lynching by the denizens of Mumsnet if I failed to comply) please find enclosed the 5th (🙀) thread about my NDN's cat.
For any new arrivals to this thread, TC is a stripy thug who spends most of his waking hours trying to break into our house. He doesn't get on with our cats (with the possible exception of Sybil, but only if she's in the mood). He currently is at war with Lenny.
He occasionally behaves like a perfect gentleman, his more normal MO however is to be a hissing spitting ball of teeth and claws.
For any one daft enough, here are the last 4000 posts about him
thread1
thread2
thread3
thread4
For anyone far too sensible to trawl through the above threads, here are a few of his photographic highlights. And yes, the last one is him on my kitchen table...

He sounds like our neighbourhood thug of a cat! A beautiful Bengal boy but an absolute pest, and actually quite intimidating! He lunges at our legs if we're outside and will do ANYTHING to get in! This all started last summer when his owner let him out and since then he has been terrorising the neighbourhood, jumping in through open doors and windows and refusing to leave. I'm really annoyed that come summer we basically have to keep our downstairs windows and garden doors closed! Once he got in the house and my husband picked him up to take him out and he actually bit my husband HARD on the hand! He had to go get a shot at A & E.

And what's worse is that he hunts our cats. One of them is much smaller and currently too terrified to go out, even to wee or poo because the moment he steps outside the thug is on him. We haven't had a litter tray for years and have had to get one, and our smaller cat is visibly stressed out, zooming around like crazy, following me around meowing, keeping my daughters awake at night seeking comfort, clumps of fur on the carpet etc.

I'm seriously worried about what will happen when we go on holiday with only a cat feeder coming in twice a day. The thug tailgates our cats at times through the cat flap so I dread to think of the fighting when we're not there.

Neighbours were complaining last summer of him just forcing his way in to their houses and refusing to leave.

The owner doesn't answer texts and seems to take no responsibility.

😾

Little TC has a softy side that only Sybil sees.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 29/01/2024 18:00

@themadcatter The only solution is to take large numbers of photos of 'your' thug and describe his exploits on MN. (Worked for me 😹)
Meanwhile Sybil is curled up peacefully in a blanket on my lap NOT dreaming of TC.

If it's anything like our neighbourhood Bengal, it will see the super soaker as a fun game for all the family. Ours is quite pleasant but still tries to get in everyone's houses. Can't leave any windows open more than a crack else the bugger gets in and causes mayhem.

Everyone seems to have a naughty neighbourhood Bengal!

@themadcatter please consider a Cattery for your trip instead of cat sitter. One of ours was bitten badly and developed a huge abcess near the spine. Because she was always resting in her cat bed when the sitter came in it went unnoticed until we returned - was touch and go that she survived as it was bad.

I have two cats with currently open wounds from our "naughty" neighbourhood bengal. Trying to come into the house is the least offensive thing that little shit does.

😮 I also discovered a bloody scratch or bite under our cat's fur on his neck last night which really freaked me out! I'm really getting stressed out by it all. But we're now armed with a lemon juice laced water spray bottle and a water gun is arriving in the post today. Our cat is so stressed he has started pooing on the carpet as he is too scared to go outside.

MsSupineLickspittle · 30/01/2024 12:22

We've got water guns loaded too. Haven't worked! I've got more use out of the cat clippers, Hibiscrub and antibacterial spray to be honest. And the microchip cat flap.

We've got a microchip cat flap but the Bengal tailgates our cats when they come in and often manages to squeeze in! I'm really worried about that when we go on holiday!

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 30/01/2024 19:15

I’d put your cat into a nice cattery if you have a Bengal who fights.

Our Bengal always beat up ndn cat when they went away because they got a neighbour in to feed them and our Bengal knew they were unprotected.

I always use a cattery for mine.

themadcatter · 01/02/2024 15:08

Just caught our roving Bengal with the water gun and he ran! Felt sorry for him though - he approached me in quite a friendly manner and miaowed in complaint when I chased him away. 😿

SequentialAnalyst · 01/02/2024 15:52

There used to be a neutered male ordinary moggy living next door, who would be all friendliness and let you stroke him, then suddenly sink his teeth into your arm.

After a couple of years, the neighbours moved away. It was only then that I realised that our own DCat must have been subject to his bullying outside, because she became much happier, and more relaxed, about going outside herself.

@themadcatter, you are doing the right thing.

RumNotRun · 01/02/2024 22:05

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats have you seen the thread about brushing a cat's teeth? I double triple dare you to try it with TC 🤣

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 01/02/2024 22:12

Last time we went to the vet, she told us that we needed to clean Karl and Lenny's teeth. I am never going to try cleaning their teeth - and they are pussy cats compared to TC 🤣

OP posts:
RumNotRun · 01/02/2024 22:15

Yeah, I don't dare try with any of mine so TC would be a hell no! (Obviously despite the fact that he's just a big cuddlebutt and not at all vicious)

A pedant writes: Surely they are all pussycats?

Although obviously I know what you mean. I have never had to attempt to clean a cat's teeth - the vet was always impressed with Midnight's set of gnashers, which always gave me a glow of pride, though it was nothing to do with anything I had done.

As something of a pedant myself I have to point out that my words were an attempt to show the paradox that TC, while being a pussycat ('a cat'), certainly can't be labelled a pussycat ('One who is regarded as easygoing, mild-mannered, or amiable.'). 😁
This has however led me down a rabbit hole regarding pussycat v. pussy cat v. pussy-cat.

Having checked his back catalogue, I don't think TC needs to have his teeth cleaned anyway.

A truly fine set of gnashers. His dad should be proud!

RumNotRun · 02/02/2024 09:35

His dad should also be pleased that brushing them will not be suggested any time soon!!

I've finally caught up on all five TC threads. I've enjoyed them all immensely and they've really helped me with the loss of my own bruiser of a cat.

I'm not sure which I've enjoyed more, Grumpy's fantastic photos or all the other posters' attempts to school Grumpy on just what an adorable, squishy, tender, lonely, hungry boy TC actually is 😹😻

Thanks to you all for the entertainment!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in May 2019 when Thread 1 was a mere infant , I loitered on this thread to get advice about getting cats again.

After being adviced (eyeballs @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats ) that TWO cats were the preferred choice and having cats in your home was a privilege and a blessing ( ok I made that bit up) Grin we became the House Slaves to 2 lovely black brother/sister CPL moggies in May 2019 .
And the rest is history.
My stair carpet has suffered though....................
