My Cat has been missing 2 days - Any more ideas on what I can do?

I'm a complete mess, my cat went missing very early hours of Friday morning. She must have gone out of the cat flap and for some reason didn't do her usual jump on my bed on her return, instead, she just hasn't returned.

She's 7 and when she was 2 used to go AWOL at times but since then has been a real homey cat and never goes far, hence me not locking the cat flap on Thursday night (which I feel so guilty about).

I've put her details all over Facebook, local groups and lost and found groups too. Put out some posters, been out early this morning and called for her and told everyone in my street to look in their sheds etc. Now I've run out of ideas and feel so useless not doing anything that might help bring her back.

She's been my one constant companion the past few years and I'm a wreck without her (I live on my own) and guess I'm just clutching at straws in case anyone has any ideas of what I can do, or even some hope that she will return soon. Thank you x

I'm so sorry to hear your cat is missing. My boy is also missing and its truly so awful. He went out on Saturday November 19th and hasnt come back. Ive posted so many leaflets, put posters up, registered him as lost with the vets, petfinder, animal search, blue cross, battersea cats. I spoke to the council who were useless. Ive got my unwashed clothes on the line, contents of vacuum cleaner in the garden, dreamies on the walls. Its just so odd, its like he has disappeared. I can't imagine never knowing what has happened so I totally feel what you are going through and will say a little prayer for you and Scully too. x

Since I lost my boy I get really cross about people talking about 'stray' cats! It isn't stray it's bloody lost & needs some help getting home!

Rant over! Glad you're helping the other cat! 💐

Apologies @QueueEtwo I was thinking 'strayed' from home, my only reason for referring to the lost kitty as a 'stray'. Hopefully my post will help find her owner.

Thank you @Blowyourowntrumpet and @DomesticShortHair for your thoughts, I'm hoping all your kind words will find their way to my Scully and bring her home very soon.

@Brandysnothome oh no, I feel and share your pain. I am so sorry your cat has also gone missing, it's ghastly isn't it, the not knowing is breaking me apart. Like you, Scully has just 'disappeared', she was asleep on the sofa the Thursday night and gone without a trace the following morning.

Sending hopes and prayers your way for your beloved cat to find his way home very soon. If you want someone to talk to who totally understands what you're going through at the moment feel free to private message me. 💐

PushkaMcgee · 30/11/2022 20:35

@words and @QueueEtwo thank you.

I did another flyer drop in a local road this evening which lead to one house phoning me to say they had opened their shed on Sunday and a cat came flying out, they said it may have been Scully but couldn’t be sure. It’s given me some hope as I’ve realised she may (even if that cat wasn’t her) have lost her bearings and finding various places to hide until she finds her way home and also that people are looking at the leaflets I’m putting through their doors.

I had a meltdown earlier when the receptionists at my vet were really rude to me and showed no compassion whatsoever when I popped in to see if they had any more ideas for me to try. I was so taken aback by their attitude I’m surprised I didn’t burst into tears while in there. My friend thought I should write to the practice manager and complain. However, the mean and thoughtless people far outweigh the lovely ones.

Many thanks again for keeping me and Scully in your thoughts x

Scully has come home!! I still can’t quite believe it! Three weeks she was awol almost to the hour.

I was asleep yesterday morning and at 6.30 could hear a loud meowing at my bedroom door, called out her name turned the light on and there she was peering round the door! I thought I was dreaming. She’s very skinny but is eating and drinking and looks well, she is so grounded! The vet said as long as she looks ok and is eating etc to just keep her inside and keep an eye on her.

She must have been locked in a shed or something, she looks pretty clean and must have had access to water, I wish she could tell me the story of her grand adventure!

Thanks to the amazing people on this thread, you really kept me going with your love and support and stories of cats that had gone missing and returned. It’s been a truly ghastly three weeks but you have all been there for me and, for that, I am forever grateful.

I still can’t believe my little Scully is home and safe and is now fast asleep purring on my lap.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart ❤
