I know this may be subjective but in your opinion which type of cat is the most laid back/loving?

I hear black cats maybe?

Our black tuxedo cats have always been really loving

PearlclutchersInc · 03/11/2022 10:25

Siamese. Over the years both me and my parents have had the breed.

They have such big personalities and are very affectionate.

I love mine to bits🐱

silentpool · 03/11/2022 10:26

Persian cats generally but my black Persian is a bit of a character - still very loving though 😀

LT2 · 03/11/2022 10:29

Ragdolls.

I have two males that are 8 and 7. They are affectionate, loving, always want to be with you. We have a 9 month old and he will pull their hair (we try to stop this before it happens!) and that doesn't even phase them. They never scratch or bite. One of them appears to be concerned when baby cries too - he'll come to us and want to be as near to baby as he can (unsure if he just doesn't like the crying so wants it to stop😄)
Ragdolls are known as 'puppy cats' because they are often said to be more like dogs than cats. I can vouch for that, having had both dogs and a different type of cat before.

Neutered Toms, in my very limited experience of around 15 cats. Personalities have still varied hugely however. Have only had moggies, but colour hasn’t seemed to make any difference. I’ve had black, tabby, ginger, tuxedo, black and white, tabby and white.

DoodlePug · 03/11/2022 10:31

Usually the longhaured ones.

Ragdolls especially, they're like dogs.

ShowOfHands · 03/11/2022 10:35

I've had many cats and personality seems to be more important than breed or colour.

Most affectionate cat I ever had was a tabby. Most aloof was Persian. She hated everybody and everything.

PeloFondo · 03/11/2022 10:35

My black male rescue moggy is ridiculous. He trails after me like a dog and never gets fed up of being fussed. You can give him kisses and hugs all day and he will just sit purring at you

Neutered males.
Burmese though as a breed very very affectionate.

Pumpkinpatchlookinggood · 03/11/2022 10:38

My ddogs would not agree our black dcat is anything but a twat.... Our 30kg ddog won't even go outside if she is in the utility room!

Siamese , they are like dogs in disguise , just want to be with you all the time and always up for a cuddle . My mum had a Ragdoll previously and he was far less cuddly than the meezers.

SagelyNodding · 03/11/2022 10:41

Agree that neutered male cats are the biggest softies! I've had a wonderful tabby and currently a tux boy who is such a sweet and affectionate catdog.
My only female cat was affectionate on her own terms only!

postcardpuffin · 03/11/2022 10:42

We have a Burmese who is insanely affectionate — possibly too much so (v clingy!) But she is also v high energy too.

LeMoo · 03/11/2022 10:42

Ginger toms

MayISuggestSomeThickCutSteakChipsToGoWithThat · 03/11/2022 10:54

My tuxedo is mega affectionate.

ChocChipOwl · 03/11/2022 11:00

You need ragdolls! These three belong to my daughter and well..: they're like clingy children and a full time job all rolled into one

Persians!! Very sweet and affectionate. Cheddar adores being cuddled. Abs I'm frequently being woken up
With one either side of my head.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/11/2022 11:21

@silentpool I need a picture if your black Persian! This is mine.

Neutered boy moggies.
The furry little bastards never leave us alone 🤣.
Had three on the bed last night.
In my experience girl cats always seem slightly more aloof.

pinkpotatoez · 03/11/2022 11:35

Tabbies & complete opposite with black cats (I have a male tabby & male black cat)

Minikievs · 03/11/2022 11:43

@Pumpkinpatchlookinggood
If I wasn't sat at home looking at my cat, I'd swear you'd stolen mine! They're identical!

Mine is an absolute diva. Loving when she wants to be. An absolute arsehole when she wants to be.

Our old neutered Tom was the most loving. Would follow me round like a dog and run next to me down the road when I went running

Clarich007 · 03/11/2022 11:49

Completely different for me, a cat owner of 42 years. Always had girl cats, so sweet affectionate and loving.
But this one an 8 year old neutered tomcat is anything but. He's aloof and aggressive.

Fundays12 · 03/11/2022 11:55

Neutered older Tom cats. My old fur boy who died recently absolutely loved a cuddle. He would literally lie back in my arms with his paws around my neck. My 2 female cats are nice natured but just not as affectionate. Both are spayed and both we have had since 8 weeks old. I have had Tom cats all neutered over the years and all were lovely natured especially as they got older.

RaraRachael · 03/11/2022 12:00

I have a ginger and white neutered tom. He's very affectionate and lazy - loves sitting on my knee and sleeping beside me.
When we adopted him there was a choice of two but he jumped down and rubbed round our legs so we just had to have him. 12 years later he's still the same.

Ludo19 · 03/11/2022 20:10

All my cats are pretty much lap cats. My girls were siamese x beautiful natured. My ragdolls (boys and girl) are super snuggly. My burmese/siberian rescue is a complete lap cat and very vocal but well mannered. My big tuxedo is a big sook. Latest additions is my persian girl (rehome) first experience of this breed and she's a complete sweetheart. Then added a chinchilla, he's just amazing, a wee purr machine.
