My Maine Coon was allowed to sleep on the bed last night

And he was ecstatic!

Any time I reached out to touch him (to check I wasn’t going to roll on him) he started purring sooo hard. All night. It was so sweet.

I’ve never had a Maine Coon before and he is such a sweet and lovey boy. He is very sociable and likes to be around people. He cries when he can’t get into a room.

Please do share your cuddly cat stories because they WARM MY HEART!

Back in the day when I was single but had met future DH I took on a neighbour’s cat who was being neglected. The couple were going through divorce and one of their cats chose me as a better slave. She was covered in fleas and had open sores the size of a 50p on her back. I knocked on neighbours door and told him she needed a vet and I would take her there if he didn’t. Neighbour explained what had gone on and would I take her permanently. And that is how she became officially mine.

I had grown up with cats and they had never been allowed in bedrooms. Well in a one bed flat there was no ignoring her. She cried and scratched the door until I gave in.

The flat was ground floor , electric storage heaters and a concrete floor. In winter it was cold. I bought a hot water bottle for my feet to put at the end of the bed. My cat thought I had totally bought it for her. The end of the bed was layered up hot water bottle , duvet, cat.

She was sweet , purred in my face in the morning and if I took too long I got a paw smacked in the eye. Never had her claws out.

You are a wonderful person. “My cat thought I had totally bought it for her.” This warmed my heart!

She sounds lovely. Some people get cats so wrong, they can be so soft and loving - like yours!

I have a clingy loving cat
Here he is supervising me, have a kidney infection so he's decided I can't be left alone at any point
He follows me like a dog, if I move, he's coming too

Ours likes to sleep next to our feet but then growls and hisses when she gets kicked 🤦🏻‍♀️ it's a king-size bed so there's plenty of room!! She got the hump last night and slept on the floor instead 😂

Neither of mine sleep in my bedroom, but in the mornings when I wake up Boycat is on the windowsill waiting. I am permitted to go for a wee, then must spend the next 15 minutes or so snuggled up next to him on the bed giving him cuddles. I am then allowed to have my shower, but am summoned back to his side straight after for another 10 minutes before the rest of the day can start.

My Maine Coon kitten is arriving today, I am beyond excited to meet him.

My girl is very independent and loves spending time in our garden, but every morning around 7:30 she will back herself on to my face. I will wrap my arms around her and rest my head on her ample rump and we will snooze away for thirty minutes or so.

RedHelenB · 29/10/2022 11:09

I had the two sweetest natured cats. I miss them.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 29/10/2022 11:12

Mine has been following me around all the time since DD left for Uni in September. I am not sure if he is missing the fuss he usually gets from DD or whether he knows I am more lonely since she left - either way I am loving his cuddles!

crumpet · 29/10/2022 11:13

My cats don’t tend to spend a lot of time together and are also out and about a lot during the day, but when I was recovering from cancer treatment and was in bed each day after the hospital in the morning, they both slept on my bed all afternoon- day after day for weeks.

LightandMomentary · 29/10/2022 11:15

Aww, we've recently lost both of our old girls (15 yrs each) and both used to sleep on the bed with us...me actually as DH would kick them off in his sleep. One tucked at the back of my knees and one at my chin. Miss it.

SisyphusDad · 29/10/2022 11:17

My DS16 is currently considering getting a double bed for his new (brother off to uni) large room so that he can have more than the third of his current single bed that our Maine Coon allows him.

LightandMomentary · 29/10/2022 11:22

Sisyphus dad, as we know, that will make zero difference. Your pud cat will just take up the extra slack. 😆

dontputitthere · 29/10/2022 11:28

Photos or it didn't happen!

Love Maine coons. Such giant fluff balls. Enjoy the snuggles

custardbear · 29/10/2022 11:37

My cats spend more time in my bed than I do !

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 29/10/2022 11:46

Not only do my cats sleep with me every night, one of them insists I first give him head rubs, then hold his front paws in my hands while he nods off.
He also gets under the duvet with me whenever he gets cold, then sticks his head out over the top. It looks pretty cute.

I have to build in an extra fifteen minutes into my morning routine for the daily cuddle before I'm allowed to work. As soon as they've been fed, and I've made a cuppa, I'm directed to the sofa so they can sit on me.

Gorgeous cats

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/10/2022 12:39

Our female cat stands angrily at DDs (closed) bedroom door and demands it is open. Starts with a meow then a paw, then a fully stretched out scraping at the door

Our male liked our room till we decorated , then (because he doesn't like changes ) he boycotted it , only just venturing back .

Photo my DD tool of MaleCat thinking "What the Actual Jeff" when the mattress was upended

My cat often sleeps with me at night when it’s cold.

She curls up near my legs or feet and always has part of her body touching me.

She generally sleeps all night and then saunters out in the morning all refreshed. 9/10 times, I sleep well. Sometimes I don’t and I contort my body around her and then wake up aching.

mostlydrinkstea · 29/10/2022 12:49

My Maine Coons were gorgeous animals. They are big. Eight kilos of determined MC landing on your bladder as you doze in bed can't be ignored. We call my ex feral kitten a cut price Maine Coon. She has the attitude and the looks and is a superb hunter.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 29/10/2022 12:49

We had a previous cat long before we had DD. When she arrived he was tolerant but sceptical.

One day when she was starting to cruise, I caught him sitting on the windowsill behind and below the sofa back. DD was stood on the sofa, and he was playing peekaboo. He was popping up, bopping her on top of the head gently so she laughed, then disappearing until she was quiet, then repeat.

I tried to film it surreptitiously and he just stared at me stoically, only started again when the phone was put away. I think he was worried about his street cred Grin
