My Maine Coon was allowed to sleep on the bed last night

And he was ecstatic!

Any time I reached out to touch him (to check I wasn’t going to roll on him) he started purring sooo hard. All night. It was so sweet.

I’ve never had a Maine Coon before and he is such a sweet and lovey boy. He is very sociable and likes to be around people. He cries when he can’t get into a room.

Please do share your cuddly cat stories because they WARM MY HEART!

One of my favourite things about having a cat is waking up every morning and seeing her curled up at the foot of my bed (or occasionally sitting in the doorway giving me death stares, if she thinks I'm late for breakfast).

MissPiggysPinkDress · 29/10/2022 13:12

My old cat used to sit at the bottom of the stairs and look at me pointedly when he decided it was bed time. Then we used to go an snuggle all night. Even if my husband had already gone to bed, he would still sit and wait for me

pilates · 29/10/2022 13:15

My cat used to sleep on my back. I loved it and miss her very much 😞

SisyphusDad · 29/10/2022 13:19

@LightandMomentary

I know it. He knows it. But what can you do? 😸

Dilbertian · 29/10/2022 13:21

I love the way MrCat greets us when he hasn't seen us for an hour or two: he lifts just his head from where he is lying down, looks at you and says "Mewp", and lies back down again.

Gumbo · 29/10/2022 13:26

All these people who have cats that sleep sweetly on their feet - how are you doing this? I have one who sneaks up as soon as I'm asleep and wraps himself quietly round my head like a bloody turban...he never wakes me up (unless he starts purring too loudly), it's only when I try to turn over I discover I've got very little pillow left for me! At that point he ramps up the snuggling and purring so that I feel too guilty to chuck him off, so end up trying to squish my head up on the last remaining scrap of pillow, and a bit of furry ginger tummy Hmm

Mine always sleep on the bed, I wouldn't be able to sleep without them. They follow me round all day. The black kitten likes to suck my fingers during the night.

Cheddar likes to sleep on my head. Which is quite annoying, as it would be helpful if I could breathe.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 29/10/2022 14:26

When I got my first kitten I said to my friend "I'm not having it sleep on the bed like you and M ( another friend) do with yours!" First night of course the little scrap was crying so what did I do?

I've had 3 now, all have let me share the bed 😂.

This is the default position now for my current girl, she spends about 20 hours a day there.

Where did you get your MC? I’ve always wanted one. They’re such lovely cats.

My Maine Coon kitten is arriving today, I am beyond excited to meet him.

Enjoy and welcome to the best decision you ever made. Ours was completely at home with us within 15 minutes - no exaggeration. He bonded with us instantly.

I have a clingy loving cat
Here he is supervising me, have a kidney infection so he's decided I can't be left alone at any point
He follows me like a dog, if I move, he's coming too

That little face! He is so cute!

Ours likes to sleep next to our feet but then growls and hisses when she gets kicked 🤦🏻‍♀️ it's a king-size bed so there's plenty of room!! She got the hump last night and slept on the floor instead 😂

You’re unreasonable to move your feet during the night. Do you know who she IS? 👑 😉

I’m currently sleeping on a mattress on the floor as my bed broke. That cat thinks Christmas has come early, now he can get to me without even having to jump. I keep waking up to him curled into my knees, or up under my chin.

I had a look on gumtree and there were a couple who breed them. Not mass producing mind. Just something to bear in mind though ours developed hip dysplasia at 8 months. It’s genetic, costly to treat, and v painful for him. Told the breeder and basically he downplayed it saying it’s common I.e. basically he will keep breeding them. This is considered wrong amongst veterinarians as there’s a high chance of the people kittens having it. I’d advise to feel out the breeders ask if the parents has been screened for hip dysplasia. I know it seems extreme but if breeders are making 100s of pounds from selling the kittens they can afford to have the parents x-rayed IMO.

Adorable! What a little fluffster - how could you resist that cutie? We always said “no cats on the counter.” Our cat had other ideas!

My girl is very independent and loves spending time in our garden, but every morning around 7:30 she will back herself on to my face. I will wrap my arms around her and rest my head on her ample rump and we will snooze away for thirty minutes or so.

The dream 🧡

My DS16 is currently considering getting a double bed for his new (brother off to uni) large room so that he can have more than the third of his current single bed that our Maine Coon allows him.

😂 The Maine coon’s needs come first!

My Maine Coons were gorgeous animals. They are big. Eight kilos of determined MC landing on your bladder as you doze in bed can't be ignored. We call my ex feral kitten a cut price Maine Coon. She has the attitude and the looks and is a superb hunter.

I feel you! Mine is getting on for 6 (still a kitten) and he chucks himself on me heavily getting comfy!

Mine are all 3 lap cats, and two bed cats. I position my legs just so that they fit perfectly. These are my first cats (although they aren't new) but if I base my opinion on them- I can't understand people who say that aren't loving! They are full of affection and live for a cuddle! I love them sooo much.

My cats have always slept on the bed. The kittens are currently to young and stupid and sleep together on their bedroom in their Hammock.
The Siberian however spoons with me every night whilst DH sleeps on the other side of the bed accept when it is really cold and she goes between the two of us.
Our house is cold so we have and electric blanket which she adores.
