We are fostering a cat plus kittens at the moment and my DD named them all.

Luna - mum
Diogo - tabby
Theodore - tabby
Dora - black
Violeta - black
Safari - black
Flash - black

We are in Portugal, hence the mix of names. Diogo is the naughty one and is so called because that's the name you hear most often shouted across a playground followed by 'dont do that!' He and Flash are staying with us but the charity is looking for homes for the others without much luck 😔

Another called Torbin (should be spelt the proper Icelandic way but not sure how to do those characters on here). It basically means Thunder Bear. we have toy version of this cat that we call Jeremy.

Frasier and Niles (our current pair of Siamese brothers) Smile

A friend used to have a cat called Alan, another had Sybil and Basil.

I also met a completely awesome cat called Boris many years ago. It seemed fantastic cat name back then, but too loaded with association now.

I named one of my cats Calico when I was a child because I loved the sound of the word. Didn't know it was a type of fabric. She was a pretty little tortoiseshell and it suited her somehow.

My cat Haribo was a Cats Protection kitten fostered with his 2 brothers. They were originally called Maurice, Barry and Robin after the BeeGees. They are on YouTube under BeeGees kittens Swansea Cats Protection. Haribo is the nutter pawing the specs and running around at the end. He loves watching himself on tv.

When I fostered we used to sometimes give the cats titles to go with their names so we had

Countess Violet Elizabeth de Fuzzybum, guardian of the scarves

Annie Von Ack

Sam the suit - he was a huge cat who arrived and went onto the top of the wardrobe and we only saw him up there for weeks.

He'd arrived with a cat called Tosh who we did see so we thought maybe Sam was just a fat suit Tosh put on occasionally.

We had two black cats, they had a black tabby top coat and a black under coat so although they were completely black, in the right light you could se ethe tabby so we called them the black tigers.

I knew an Eartha Kitt which I thought was really cute.

I like bloke names on cats - I've met Sidney, Clive, Colin etc. and they all suited their names.

Ballbagisnotmyname · 26/05/2021 09:45

I collected out new kitten yesterday and we have named her Buu, our pug is named Mrs pickles!

whiteroseredrose · 26/05/2021 09:47

Our neighbours used to have a cat called Mandu as in Kathmandu. It suited him as he was a very exotic beastie. I've also known a lovely cat called Delilah.

When I was 6 I named our cat Pussy... I wouldn't recommend that name!

prettybird · 26/05/2021 09:51

We used to have a Siamese cat called (Kat)Mandu. His brother was called Oedipus. Grin

Trinacham · 26/05/2021 10:08

This comes under the lovely category: a cat called Lydia
I think that's so sweet!
