Sainsbury's says national shortage of cat and dog food?

Sent an email out saying there was a national shortage, didn't say why. Expected to be a problem for the rest of the year. Is this a Brexit thing? Covid? Anyone know any more?

There have been a lot of people getting cats and dogs in lockdown. Perhaps as a result some people who would have had their cats or dogs neutered have not done so. If the number of cats and dogs as pets has increased and there have been restrictions owing to Covid in factories that process pet food, could these be the causes?

Agree that cats will not eat any variety of cat food, and for some certain brands do not agree with them. Probably the same with dogs but I have no experience.

@MustStayStrong01 I started this thread before the Suez thing, but that certainly won't have helped! Our cats have been turning their nose up at some of the alternatives I've bought, but apparently they have started visiting a neighbour and guzzling her cats food. Blush
