I can offer a Paws cuddle? I mean he's not very good at them and he doesn't purr but he likes being picked up Grin

YesItsMeIDontCare · 30/04/2020 00:33

Sounds good. Leroy hates being picked up, but I love to pick up a cat and feel the fur 😁.

Supersimkin2 · 30/04/2020 05:26

The off quick lift and kiss never does any harm. If you hold them for long enough for them to get used to it - ie acquire an expression of reluctant distaste rather than fury - sometimes they even start to like it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/04/2020 07:14

Oh dear, did she even have a dog to start with?. Can you even catch aids from one species to another?.

I’d be upset by that too. This is where having a tall assertive dh comes in handy, no one would dare come to our door creating.

Supersimkin2 · 30/04/2020 08:23

While we live in uncertain times, rest assured you can't catch Aids from a cat; it's pretty difficult to get from a human. Grin

The aggressive neighbour's the only social disease round your way Yes.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 30/04/2020 08:39

DH is errrrmmmm... assertive. In a way. Kinda. Shall we say, I'm the brains of the outfit while he's the brawn. I think that's why I'm so annoyed - it was late, we were trying to stop Leroy getting out and she was so fixated on whether I pick Leroy's poo up or not (because she's never seen me with a poo bag) that I completely and utterly failed to engage my brain and point out that poo eating is considered an undesirable behavioural issue not a dangerous to health one.

She was obviously very upset about something, but I don't think it's my or Leroy's fault,

I've also had a cuddle from Leroy at last. The post breakfast cuddle.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 30/04/2020 08:46

Tbh I don't think she was saying that the dog caught "feline AIDS", more that there is something in the poo of a cat with "feline AIDS" that kills dogs if they eat it.

Which I can find no evidence of. Yes, if a dog eats a lot of poo (of any species) then they can pick up bacteria and parasites which may need treating with antibiotics, but that's got nowt to do with "feline AIDS". Toxoplasmosis is more of an issue, but again large quantities would need to be eaten.

The more I think about it the weirder it gets.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 30/04/2020 08:58

I can't get beyond a dog deciding that cat poo might make a nice snack.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/04/2020 09:28

Ugh me neither. Dogs are grim af.

Always send dh to answer the door in future.

Supersimkin2 · 30/04/2020 10:48

Sense as ever Fluffy. The shit-eating is the limit in doorstep conversation Yes.

Of course FIV cat poo is no diff to other cat poo. Who knows what the dog died of - probably exasperation with its daft owner.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 30/04/2020 11:04

Oh I will be sending him from now on! He's a bit scary looking and has got a very very VERY loud voice.

I just cannot get my head round how anyone could make any connection between dog death and Leroy. There has to be something else at play.

Papergirl1968 · 30/04/2020 11:41

Sympathies, Yes. She sounds nuts.
How’s dear Ollie today, Queen?

ClientQ · 30/04/2020 12:17

He's ok, relaxing in bed
I've just been hit with a letter out the blue and it looks like I have hashimotos

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/04/2020 12:34

I’m so sorry. Do you need thyroxine yet?. Free prescriptions if you do.

ClientQ · 30/04/2020 12:40

@Fluffycloudland77 not a clue! I had the bloods done ages ago by immunology and they've just written to me
Says they have found antibodies and my TSH is 7.1 which they are counting as "slightly raised"

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/04/2020 12:47

Are you going to ring your gp?.

Papergirl1968 · 30/04/2020 12:51

Sorry to hear that, Queen.
I’d never heard if Hashimoto’s - had to google it. Try to get some more info from your GP.
Glad Ollie is ok.

@Fluffycloudland77 just rung them and they haven't had the letter yet. It says sub clinical hypothyroidism on the letter and refer to endocrinologist

TheLongRider · 30/04/2020 13:03

I've had it since 2007, I had DD in 2009. Mine is treatable with Thyroxine. My weight is pretty stable but if I put any on it takes ages to lose.

My eyebrows disappeared at the ends, dry skin like a lizard, permanently exhausted in the afternoons and breathless going up a flight of stairs. I was 32 at the time and 9.5 stone so not overweight.

It took about six months of tweaking my dose to get it right and I have 6 monthly blood tests for review. Other than a daily tablet I wouldn't know.

Some people report a lot of other symptoms and it is very easy to label them all as thyroid issues when they may be something else.

I also have endometriosis and other autoimmune conditions. Nothing that'll actually kill me, just enough to make life uncomfortable.Confused

ClientQ · 30/04/2020 13:06

@TheLongRider I feel that! I have hidradenitis supprativa, vitiligo and autoimmune neutropenia HmmGrin

Allergictoironing · 30/04/2020 13:29

OMG I have HS as well, though luckily mine seems to be dormant at present. Even had to have one area surgically excised. Must make the modelling a bit harder, ensuring you can't see any scars from it.

Only met one other person with HS, and they were only diagnosed with it because I suggested they ask their GP whether it could be that after years of non-diagnosis with anything.

nettie434 · 30/04/2020 13:34

Sorry that you have had this news today ClientQ. Hope you get an appointment with the endocrinologist soon.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 30/04/2020 13:41

Is it Hashimoto's or hypothyroidism?

They are different.

Supersimkin2 · 30/04/2020 13:46

Queen - you know what, that awful unnerving letter could be a blessing in disguise. I have hashi's & it went undiagnosed till I felt like death (never one to underplay the drama here Grin). But.... once you get thyroxine into you won't look back.

It's fantastic stuff and it makes you feel a million times better. You remember really Good Days? Well, they'll be normal days now. Basikerly, the main symptom of this disease is feeling awful, in mind and body, but you get sick so slowly you don't notice it creeping up on your wellbeing.

Your TSH should be 1. So 7 isn't great. But it can go up to over 100, so you won't need that high a dose. Loads of people have hashi's, it's entirely controllable. The treatment will change your life, promise.

ClientQ · 30/04/2020 13:51

@YetAnotherSpartacus not sure yet, the antibodies suggest hashimotos but my bloods show I'm hypothyroidism
