Just got back from the vets with Matt after his annual health check and booster.
We were late because he promptly disappeared under the bed when he saw the cat basket appear - we have one of the old fashioned wicker ones.
He behaved when we got there - unlike last year when he disgraced himself by spitting at a dog that dared get too close to his cage, making both dog and owner jump.
A clean bill of health except he has once again put weight on and is now 8.3kg which I’ve just got home and realised is over 18lbs Shock

Supersimpkin · 23/07/2019 17:49

Matt is lush Grin

Exquisite vetiquette, too.

Mr C's having to get a steroid injection. That will go well.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/07/2019 17:55

I’m sure that will go well too.

Poor Matt, is he on a diet?.

Papergirl1968 · 23/07/2019 18:21

It’s very hard to diet Matt because he is used to breakfast, lunch, tea and supper, and just yells for more if he considers the portion inadequate. And he thinks nothing of waking me up early if he gets peckish. I can cut down on his Dreamies a bit, I guess.
He is long and big boned though. He was fairly hefty even as a 12 week old kitten. I think because he was an only kitten he had all the milk!
If he was a bloke he’d be about 6ft 5ins, broad shouldered and barrel chested (and with a bit of a belly, I suspect!)

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/07/2019 18:32

He drained his poor mum dry then by the sounds of it.

We have a bird feeder in the garden now, it could turn out to be an asbo feeder as well.

Sort of like a vending machine.

YesQueen · 23/07/2019 20:33

I have made the weather ALL WRONG

Hi Super

Yes I was impressed with said dh juggling skills Grin
The day before there was absolute scenes outside the front room window
Bet had quite a large bird in her gob, and it was screeching the place down
She got that me taken off of her as well, she walks around looking most put
Out that we don't appreciate her efforts to feed us more.

I say come the zombie apocalypse, we'll be all huddled round a roasted baby
Sparrow, toasting out cats health 😳

Supersimpkin · 23/07/2019 21:04

Matt will get us all first. Or asbo.

We've got to go sometime, meh. Grin

Their obviously all bastards.

Supersimpkin · 24/07/2019 16:29

Hopelessly unsporting.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/07/2019 16:58

Well, I’m not buying the naice rspb suet balls if they don’t rsvp to my bird feeder.

Papergirl1968 · 24/07/2019 17:17

Matt would like to know if his Mumsnet kitty friends were scared during the storms last night? He was a brave boy!

Supersimpkin · 24/07/2019 17:27

I could hear Mr C snoring through the whole thing from across the flat.

At 3am I trod on him going for a pee. He didn't even mew that loudly.

Weezol · 24/07/2019 17:34

After the first two drops of rain hit the window I got shouted at. Then the storm got shouted at periodically for the duration. She got properly stroppy towards the end - absolutely ragin and fummin.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/07/2019 17:34

Asbo is locked in the kitchen all night. I don’t know if he’s scared.

Allergictoironing · 24/07/2019 18:16

Mine don't give one about thunder & lightning, in fact Girlcat has been known to sit on the windowsill to watch.

But very heavy rain is an entirely different matter. Both slink off to hide, Boycat usually behind the sofa which he only reverts to when terrified normally. I think it's because when they were feral & living in woods, they needed to hide from being soaked through in heavy rain.

Guiltypleasures001 · 24/07/2019 19:09

I'm getting a bit antsy at the moment, Bet went out at 7.45 came back at 10, and child wasn't quick enough to let her in.

She's not been back yet at all, I've been whistling and calling her, but not a peep 🥺
It's boiling out still, and I'm trying to swallow down a bit of a panic

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/07/2019 19:12

Probably flat out under a bush sleeping. Ours does this too, emerges at night groggy and hungry.

Weezol · 24/07/2019 19:20

Mine don't give one about thunder & lightning, in fact Girlcat has been known to sit on the windowsill to watch.

Mine loves fireworks and will also sit and watch, naray a flinch at the bangs.

However she goes a bit TraumaCat and hides in The Safe Space if you sneeze.

Papergirl1968 · 24/07/2019 20:44

Aww, Allergic, that’s so sad.
Hope she returns soon, Guilty. it’s such a worry when they vanish.

Supersimpkin · 24/07/2019 21:23

Guilty she's prob chilling out, literally.

OP posts:
YesQueen · 24/07/2019 21:25

Storm? I sleeps all night, Ollie says. No fireworks though and I like watching those HmmConfused

Guiltypleasures001 · 25/07/2019 01:04

So,

She jumped through the window at 8.05 ate, then buggered off again, which is ok

Go to pick child up from work for 11, she came back in at about 11.30, he had left the back door open, out she went.

Has just come back in, after a bribe of a lik e liks? And....straight out the window he had left open in his games room.

I'm livid, now have to wait for her again, as I won't sleep knowing she's still out, and I'll keep
Imagining I can hear her wailing to come in.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 25/07/2019 07:28

DH: Why've you bought a cool mat? He's a cat, he's not going to use it.

Leroy: I is not daft Daddy.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/07/2019 07:59

Guilty cat is not feeling guilty by the sounds of it!

Where did you buy the cooling mat for Leroy? I wouldn’t mind one for asbo.
