Come one, come all to the Olli et al. appreciation thread.

Mr C has started wheezing again. Give me strength.

On the upside, might see Nurse Lee tomorrow. Not in my skimpy lace nightie, Spart (good plan tho Grin).

@Weedsnseeds1 I can see him pushing a trolley with a death stare of anyone that gets in the yellow sticker way

Supersimpkin · 28/05/2019 19:03

Just woken up Grin Feeling rather cheerful as it happens, I took an incredibly strong painkiller with some medicinal jelly babies for lunch Grin

Mr C had chewstiks in bed and is currently enjoying a light supper on a tray next to me Grin

Fluffy I can't face looking yet. But it hurts a lot less.

Oh everyone, thanks so much for being so nice. We are waving paws and jelly babies at you :)

YesQueen · 28/05/2019 19:31

Ollie would offer a GU lemon curd cheesecake but he says he ate it all. Lord knows what @cozietoesie will think of him now Hmm

Mr C says yellow sticker customer fights are what he lives for - he's hoping to make the local paper.

'Punch-up over cod sees fat tabby arrested' is his life ambition.

He'd win paws-down over any of the human so-called professionals, I am proud to say. M&S ought to hire him to get shot of them. On me now, rumbly purring.

Allergictoironing · 29/05/2019 10:55

How is the leg today Lana?

Supersimpkin · 29/05/2019 20:26

Miles better thank you! I have had a peek and while I'm grateful only I will ever witness the frightful sight, it's gone down a lot. Having baths in bright pink disinfectant, quite jolly.

I got the fear really badly when the doc said 'if you get a temp come straight to emergency admissions because it will be sepsis'. Always reassuring Grin but I am temp free despite fretting.

Mr C is delighted because the bed is warm all day, he keeps being fed and patted, I get lots of bossy rustling round and 'helpful' tailslapping my legs when I try and get out of bed. Poor brute had to have Tesco beef brisket tonight, a notable drop in catering standards. I apologised.

Well needs must. It won’t kill him.

It sounds like your heading the right way though!

Allergictoironing · 29/05/2019 21:35

Phew, glad to hear it seems to be improving.

I had my own leg issues last night. Had to drag a new sack of cat litter into the house from the conservatory, managed to trip myself up on it, and came down with my full massive weight with my shin across the metal door frame. Bear in mind this was my bad leg. After taking 10 minutes of very loud swearing before even trying to get up, and 30 mins of icing and strong painkillers, it felt so bad I called 111 who sent bloody paramedics round to me - quite embarrassing as I was weight bearing on it albeit with a heavy limp by the time they arrived so it wasn't "properly" broken; at least it was a car not a screaming ambulance Blush.

They eventually decided I probably hadn't chipped the tibia, but we did have lots of fun distinguishing between the new swelling & the permanent swelling just below the injury; they couldn't do the usual comparison against the other leg as mine don't match by a long way at the best of times. Once I persuaded them I'd fallen due to clumsiness rather than a stroke or heart issue (sigh) they were doing all the usual trauma type checks. Q "any pain in your hips?" A "not really more than usual". Q "any pain in your lower back" A "well yes, but that's normal too". Q "how about the ankle area?" A "erm have you SEEN the scar tissue in that area? Of course it hurts, but again that's normal for me".

Treatment was (in theory) total rest for a few days icing and elevating it, and protecting it from any firm contact. Wish Boycat had been in the room listening to that rather than cowering in my wardrobe upstairs, he may not have decided to use my legs for mountaineering practice during the night! No chance of rest either, what with having an interview today.

But it hardly hurts now, in fact parts of the area are almost numb presumably due to the nerve trauma. What a bloody stupid cow I am!

Papergirl1968 · 29/05/2019 21:58

Glad to hear you’re doing ok, Lana.
I was wincing just reading that, Allergic.
How did the interview go?

Allergictoironing · 29/05/2019 22:02

Meh, didn't get good "vibes" at all. 50 mile round trip in pain for what I think was probably a waste of time.

Papergirl1968 · 29/05/2019 22:04

Oh dear, that’s annoying. But you never know so fingers crossed. Hope you’re not in as much pain tonight.

Supersimpkin · 29/05/2019 22:06

Ow Allergic, ow. Get the furry medics in at once.

Supersimpkin · 29/05/2019 22:24

Do you want me to post you some of these rather heartening pain pills? I must say I'm v impressed they are a) legal b) free on NHS.

You can't do much on them at all, warning, but you can do catfood :)

How many of us have still got both legs? We ought to be called the Peg Leg Petcarers at this rate. An exclusive Friendly Society for Ladies of Distinction.

Allergictoironing · 30/05/2019 08:37

I have excellent pain pills of my own due to the back issues anyway, but many thanks for the offer. Max dosage is borderline for normal functions, but I need to keep at least semi-alert while job hunting. It's OK now as long as I don't touch the bruised bit, and in fact has a large numb area. Much more important is how YOU are progressing.

Furry medics isn't really my kitties "thing". Girlcat only does strokes and fuss in certain places that tend to require minor contortions from me at the best of times. Boycat is much more amenable, but clumsy as feck and has already managed to flop against the damage in bed this morning (luckily through the duvet).

I will sit on the sofa with my leg up watching the cricket all day with Boycat snuggled beside me and Girlcat watching from the cat tree - when they aren't crashed out on my bed. They do like the bright colours and running around, and they have the good taste to like a classy sport Grin

Supersimpkin · 30/05/2019 10:25

Sounds like a fine plan :)

Mr C still on, bed lovely and warm, beef brisket vanished in the night. Will want belly done in a moment. I get used to being trampled on, I just grumble and move.

YesQueen · 30/05/2019 23:35

I thoughts cats were meant to curl up and sleep next to you
Ollie tonight. Head butt to the face. Licks my nose. Walks across my hair plucking it with his claws. Whines loudly. Jumps on and off me HmmHmm

YetAnotherSpartacus · 31/05/2019 11:17

Have any of you seen Norman Thelwell's wonderful cat cartoons? I know he is known for his ponies but his cats are also pretty amazing. In the front sleeve of the book I have there is 'innocent cat' all curled up asleep and as if butter would not melt and 'experience cat', all curled up with tail a-flick and one eye juuuuust open....

TheLongRider · 31/05/2019 11:33

Yes, his cat cartoons are favourites in this house.

Allergictoironing · 31/05/2019 12:13

How are you today Lana?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 31/05/2019 12:38

I hope that all unwell LT regulars and their feline deities are doing well.

Bluerussian · 31/05/2019 12:41

Ham, tinned tuna or salmon.

Papergirl1968 · 31/05/2019 12:41

I’ve had Matt walking across me for most of the night. You’d think he’d walk around the bed to get to the window but no, he has to walk across it and therefore across me. Then he has to start knocking things off my bedside tables. Then he has to lie on my chest. I push him off and turn on to my side, he clambers back up...and he weighs a bloody tonne.

Our floor is almost all
Laminate, Ronnie. except for my bedroom and the stairs and landing.
Matt isn’t sick very often but when he is, it’s always on bloody carpet!
