My cat is currently 14 and I thought he would live to around 20 but apparently this is quite rare. My friend says cats on average live to about 16 which means I got less than 2 years with him ☹️ has anyone had cats living past 16? Feeling sad

My old boy died earlier this year, he was 21! He looked as if he’d died but just not realised years ago though Grin annoying little bugger but I did love him so.

21, skinny and deaf as a post. Sat down in the middle of the road, but local drivers stopped and popped her back in the front garden. Fell asleep in her armchair. Still miss her.

My heart is still breaking

Ours was part feral and lived to be 18, I believe she went off to die as she went out one day and never came back

my beloved cat Stan died last year at 20 - best cat ever!

glamorousgrandmother · 13/12/2018 21:41

I had a feral rescue kitten that lived to be 22.

My sisters childhood cat made it to 17 and my aunt has a 24yr old!! He lasted longer than her marriage!

Yulebealrite · 13/12/2018 21:54

About 23, and was put down because she broke her leg and the vet said it would have been too traumatic for her to fix it.
She had cat dementia. She'd taken to sleeping in the bathroom sink and slipped off the side of the bath jumping in.

Oliversmumsarmy · 13/12/2018 21:54

We have had one who lived to be 23 who understood exactly what we said. If I lost anything then I just asked him and then he would mew when he had found it.

Another we lost this year was 21. She was a real diva and sounded like a 100 a day smoker when she mewed

My mans cat lived until he was 24 Smile

myidentitymycrisis · 14/12/2018 08:15

mine is 18. he's senile.

LadyRochfordsFrostedGusset · 14/12/2018 08:18

20 max here (my childhood pet).

I understand OP as I worry over my 15 and nearly 14 yr olds now if they get the slightest health problem.
