Lucky you

My two are 6 months now and causing havoc.

Are Sirius and Severus too alike?

SoupDragon · 13/11/2018 07:27

Has the mum found a home?

She has. Just this week so they will all go pretty much at the same time which is nice.

lost my littlest cat on Friday sorry to hear that. Flowers

I may be bringing the SmallDragons (they are no longer small!) round to Orion.

We have a black cat called Star.

Vinorosso74 · 13/11/2018 08:54

They look very cute and mischievous!
Re names: a friend of ours often cat sat for cats of friends and their names were Leather and Rubber apparently after their fetishes (human ones).

Toddlerteaplease · 13/11/2018 09:58

I had identical black cats. Didn't take me long to work out which was which. I really didn't write instructions for the cattery on how to tell them apart!

SoupDragon · 13/11/2018 11:58

Good lord - I'm not sitting in the vets waiting for them to call out Leather and Rubber! 😂

I'm hoping I'll be able to tell them apart eventually - I've had black cats before but they weren't siblings and were different builds. I wonder if the rescue know which is which without scanning the chips?

If they are anything like the black kittens I've fostered this summer, you will learn to tell them apart within a day or two! A lot of black cats have one or two white hairs on their chest or head, or they will be slightly different sizes, face/nose shapes etc. When I show people photos of my black kittens they say they look identical but they look completely unique and different to me.

All ready and trying to contain my excitement!

cricketmum84 I have an Elvis ( he wasn’t called that when I got him) - it always gets lots of smiles when he is at the vets!
I specifically went to see him at the rehoming centre after expressing my interest on line. When I met him he had greasy fur after his recent flea treatment so wasn’t looking his best and then hissed at me on first meeting before completely ignoring me. I was offered the chance to view more cats in case there was another I preferred . I had a look at others but then became overcome with guilt that he would ‘know’ I went to choose him but then changed my mind and I couldn’t cope with the thought it would break his little heart (stupid I know 😂) so I said I’d take him.
Best decision I ever made....18 months on he’s a total lap cat, full of personality and will follow me round like a dog, he’ll also play fetch!

I’m now looking on line at cats for adoption in my area.... SoupDragon I blame you and your beautiful new kittens!

Jaxhog · 13/11/2018 15:56

It is impossible to only go and have a look at a rescue, the law most definitely states that you must adopt whilst there
After our first, who just turned up on the doorstep, we've adopted 5 more. (not all the same time). Sirius and Orion are sooo lucky!

Santaispolishinghissleigh · 13/11/2018 15:59

In 1997 I fostered 4 orphan black kittens.
Some immensely lucky family took all 4!! To ID them at bottle times I painted their nails with nail varnish!!
The dcats 'wrote' to me some time later to thank me for raising them!! I remember shedding lots of tears when they went!
Fond memories!
Wonder if it was an mner?!

Jaxhog · 13/11/2018 16:01

Beware of choosing names. We have a Mr Spock. Apart from the big ears, he is nothing like a Vulcan. Although he did shred a Tribble when he was a kitten.

SoupDragon · 13/11/2018 16:09

SoupDragon I blame you and your beautiful new kittens!

I feel precisely zero guilt whatsoever!

Beware of choosing names.

Yes. That is why I am ignoring my children's suggestions!

Our black cat is called Bellatrix and her tabby sister is Hermione! We nearly ended up with their brother too, he was black and white, and would had been called Malfoy! Nothing dodgy about shouting their names outside!
Previous felines were called Waldorf and Stadler!

picklemepopcorn · 13/11/2018 16:29

Asterix goes with Sirius...

kelper · 13/11/2018 16:34

We used to stay with some people who had two cats called socks and knickers! The children had named them.....
Our first cat when I was little was a rescue, she had been named Babydoll by the previous owners, a name my mum swiftly changed to Polly as she refused to shout "Babydoll" of a night time!
I miss my cats :( Black ones are gorgeous

cricketmum84 · 13/11/2018 17:26

@Ski37 aww your Elvis is beautiful! Sadly we lost our Elvis about 5 years ago to a fast car on the country lane 😢. We have our little Ivy now for lots of cuddles though.

Elvis came to us in the same kinda way. Went to the rescue looking for a cute little kitten. They had loads of little fluff balls then this 5 month old gangly tabby and white boy who seemed to be all legs, he was past the cute cuddly stage and all brothers and sisters and even mum had been rehomed. There was no way I was leaving without him!

BellMcEnd · 13/11/2018 17:37

Ahhhhhhhht they’re lovely! I’m with your children though think Captain Raymond Jacob Holt is an awesome name Grin

OliviaStabler · 13/11/2018 18:16

They could always be Kirk and Spock Grin

Imagine shouting "SPOCK, din dins!" out the back door.

SoupDragon · 13/11/2018 18:41

I'm not listening to anyone suggesting anything other than Sirius and Orion! :o

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 13/11/2018 18:43

Sirius and Orion!!
Does that help!! Grin

SoupDragon · 13/11/2018 18:44
