Don't know what to do. (Potential new toddler cat)

The rescue have offered me a cat that I like the look of. She's 7 and an exotic which is what I would like. She's a very friendly lap cat apparently. They know that I can't take her till
I've been away in September.
I said I'd go and meet her on Monday. But I feel very torn as to what to do. I think Snorg would be fine with another one. Though she seems ok on her own. And this one is a complete opposite to Fatty. (Not that any cat could ever replace her)

Really don't know what I should do.

Can I be honest? I think you should put Snorg first and let her settle in as an 'only cat' before you accept another puss. Snorg may well come into her element and love being an OC. Or she may pine. But as yet you don't know. If she flourishes then (honestly) I'd let her rule supreme alone.

Let yourself grieve. Tell the rescue that (as they know) you will be there when needed. Flowers

I would see how Snorg is till September. Can they keep the cat till then?

They will keep her unless someone else wants her. If that happens I'd be happy to let her go.

My plan was to visit Monday but not take home till September anyway. They are happy with that and are not putting any pressure on me. Just wish Snorg could tell me what she wants!
Just ordered a silver paw print Keyring if them both.

I lost my Billy to a cancerous tumour on his spine, he just suddenly lost the use of his back legs. He was a rescue cat and 13 years old when I had to let him go. Although I have two other cats, I really missed him. As the rescue places are so full, I thought I can help again. Found a cat on website that was a bit like my Billy-tuxedo.
Went to visit and ended up with two bonded brothers, a black and white and a tabby and white, so now have 4.
I dont regret it, these two have settled in very well with the other cats and the two dogs.
Billy will always be missed, but because of him, two more have been given a good and forever home.
You have to do what suits you.

I think I would go and meet her on Monday and see how you feel. The rescue sound understanding and it doesn't look a small though they'll push you to take her if you're unsure.

If you don't mind me asking where did you order the silver keyrings?

They won't push me at all. And if someone else desperately wants her in the meantime then that's fine.
I got the key rings from Cheeky Little Prints
As she already has the prints on file from when I ordered the stamps there is 15% off this week end or I have a coupon for 10% off of you want it.

Thanks, I'd completely forgotten to order the stamps. I've had a look at the website and I quite fancy a charm for my bracelet. I have no idea whether he'll let me get a decent paw print though. I've got his paw print tattooed on my back but that was from a photo...

It's actually quite easy. She sends you some special paper and a wipe. You wipe the paw and put it on the paper. Mine didn't come out at all well because of their toe floofs, but she tided them up and they looked great. And I know which paw belongs to who!

Not saying you should rush in to anything, but just to give a different opinion, I don't necessarily think you should let other cat be alone for too long if you are planning to get another cat. In my experience only cats find it hard to adjust to a newcomer, while cats used to sharing their space accept newcomers more easily.

I'm really unsure what to do. My parents are being quite negative about it. Snorg has never been on her own in her life. I'm going to see her tomorrow and the rescue have her in the house. So can see how she is with the other cats. Can't take her till mid September anyway as I'm away. So by then I'll know how Snorg has settled and I'll be hopefully feeling better. If someone desperately wants her in the meantime then that's fine.

Any chance of you volunteering some time at the rescue in coming weeks? It might be a healing experience for you.

It's too far away,To go regularly. I emailed the CPL ages ago to volunteer but didn't hear back. My DF was going on about the angst I've had with them and that only the cats benefited. I won't lie that it's been stressful. But it was worth every single minute of it. They gave me much more than I gave them.

Of course they did but some people don't understand. You need to do what's right for you and the lovely Snorg.

Someone told me I drew the short straw when I got Harry but I've never looked at it like that, my only regret is that he's gone through everything he has.

Snorg has gone out for a strolll around the garden. But keeps popping back in for a snuggle on the sofa. Five times already so far! Very sweet but I think she's feeling a bit insecure.

She's perfect!very similar personality to Snorg. I think they'll do well. She's very cuddly.

Lol. He might live Chedder to!. I met Sheba as well. The cat who you are so generously feeding. She was filthy as she is a very messy eater, and has to be washed after eating!!
