Don't know what to do. (Potential new toddler cat)

The rescue have offered me a cat that I like the look of. She's 7 and an exotic which is what I would like. She's a very friendly lap cat apparently. They know that I can't take her till
I've been away in September.
I said I'd go and meet her on Monday. But I feel very torn as to what to do. I think Snorg would be fine with another one. Though she seems ok on her own. And this one is a complete opposite to Fatty. (Not that any cat could ever replace her)

Really don't know what I should do.

No she'll stay at the rescue, they keep any cats that can't be rehomed.

Oh bless them. I'm going to look into setting up a monthly donation - I won't be able to feed Sheba every month but every little helps!

Toddlerteaplease · 13/08/2018 21:16

They have the option to sponsor some of their permanent residents. I sponsor my two favourites, although one has since died I still carry it on.

They've got the most beautiful cat called Gizzy, if she didn't have issues I'd have took her too!

I've just set up a sponsorship for Stitch. He looks so sad bless his little heart.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/08/2018 21:48

Stitch is the one that has died, but omg he was just a brilliant little cat. I was always trying to cat nap him. He was as hilarious! The money will be well used whatever. Ginger ninja is the other one I sponsor, she's super cute too and was sitting on my knee today.

Oh poor little thing. It came down to him or Ninja but I felt sorry for him with the plate in his leg.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/08/2018 22:13

It turned out not long before he died that he apparently didn't have a plate at all. They were all a bit baffled why thy were told he had got one. But he had very severe arthritis. He was a gorgeous little thing. He'd wrap his paws round my neck and drape himself across my shoulders. Loved him!

Cleo and Alfie have also since died.

Just wondering how best to introduce them. I was going to put her in the spare room. But the rescue think she'll be fine straight in the house. Should I do that but pop her in a dog crate overnight and leave her in the lounge? So Snorg can still see her. I've rubbed an old muslin on Chedder and got some of her fur. (Rescue thought I was mad) and ordered some feliway friends. Also have pet remedy if needed.

I've never had to introduce two cats so I really don't know (William tried to introduce himself). I prefer the idea of the dog crate but others with more knowledge than me will probably disagree.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2018 17:18

Been home about half an hour. Snorg appears completely non plussed abs Chedder is hiding abs exploring.

I have to say Snorg doesn't look remotely bothered!

Welcome to the Litter Tray Cheddar!

Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2018 18:52

Have heard two hisses and I don't think they were from Snorg!

So cute, how old is she? Do you know her history? Looks right at home. I think I would be like you, I can’t imagine not having two.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 15/08/2018 20:42

In those pictures Snorg looks as though hissing would be too much effort!

Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2018 21:06

Quite. As far as I know she is 7. She came to the rescue with her long haired sister who bullied her, so they were separated. As far as I know, their owner worked away from home a lot and felt that she couldn't give them the attention they deserved.
She has certainly been loved she's so affectionate.
She's been here four hours and seems very settled. Snorg seems puzzled, but not bothered.
She's eaten and drank. Not used litter tray yet. I've put her in it. I've also put a smaller one next to Snorg's and I'll empty the litter into it after a few days and hope she'll use it. She's let me groom her.

She matches your stair carpet! Carefull that she doesn't try to assassinate you in the morning.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2018 23:13

She seems to like the landing and stairs. Surly she wouldn't try to kill me on her first night!

I speak as the owner of a black cat who is an expert in stealth and hiding in the shadows to the detriment of her owners.

Cheddar looks like a good fit. Hopefully Snorg will be ok and this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/08/2018 02:43

Snorg seems to have returned to her normal self again. Not as vocal and not coming to check I'm still here every five minutes. As for Chedder, I'm not sure that she's not a dog masquerading as a cat. She's bonkers! Although it's very very early days.

Guiltypleasures001 · 16/08/2018 18:47

Oh Toddler, she's lovely , and I second her blending in to the stairs 💐

Toddlerteaplease · 16/08/2018 19:45

She's just allowed me to dry shampoo her and put a collar on her. She's bizarrely compliant!
She's hissed at Snorg, but presume that is to be expected after only 24 hours. No fisticuffs as yet.

Welcome Cheddar! I hope her and Snorg become good friends and look forward to hearing about their exploits.
