Dreamies eaten. The sodding vet was closed for training so I had to call somewhere in Croydon. I'll have to get the pet ambulance if anything untoward happens, but it's looking ok at the mo.

He's all right if we're together, he wants to sit with me. I am all right if we're together, always.

Do you think I am better off waking him up every now and then through the night in case he falls into a very deep sleep again and carks? The pills were for hyperthyroid so they will slow all his body activities down.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/08/2018 20:05

I would. Trust that to be the one time he takes it willingly.

cozietoesie · 16/08/2018 20:14

I would, also. Smile

LanaorAna2 · 16/08/2018 20:40

Thanks, sisters of the soul.

I know, it's the first time ever he's taken them as easily as that - down in one. It's only because I am Keeper of Lost Pills - spat/projectiled/hidden/destroyed, acc personal choice - that I screwed up. Got tally wrong early this am before coffee while being hassled for treats. Lesson in there for all of us.

Settling down with a box set, bar of Sainsbury's Value chocolate (v moreish) and packet of ham.

LanaorAna2 · 16/08/2018 22:39

He's had two enormous meals and treats and now he's mewing for ham.

The pills are famous for removing the appetite.

I was sick with worry. Angry Grin

cozietoesie · 16/08/2018 22:59

Good for him. You feeling better now? Smile

LanaorAna2 · 16/08/2018 23:27

I found a leftover gin-in-a-tin in the fridge. In short, yes. Mr C wants me to go to bed but I'm holding out.

I really do admire Mr C - he is getting on (16 at least), lived rough for years after an abused kittenhood, has two serious chronic illnesses and has now overdosed on very strong drugs.

He is mewing for ham. Again.

Ollivander84 · 16/08/2018 23:34

Glad he is ok, they're awful for making us worry
O is snoozing on the runner I knitted for the footstool

Should he have ham? (I'm thinking about his kidney and liver function, especially if he's just had too much of a drug.) I'm sure he'll try it on and the ham might make him feel better - but do you have owt else to give him?

LanaorAna2 · 17/08/2018 00:13

You're right C I will move onto chews. He's only had a bit, I've taken to chopping it up quite small and locking the packet in the microwave.

LanaorAna2 · 17/08/2018 00:14

Little O is giving you the big eyes look.

LanaorAna2 · 17/08/2018 09:06

Both still alive here. Me knackered, Mr C fully rested and perky after a large breakfast.

Ollivander84 · 17/08/2018 13:46

My manager has just described trying to manage us as "like herding feral bloody cats"
Grin he's definitely never met Ginge

cozietoesie · 17/08/2018 14:17

OK. It's a commercial. Still worth knowing about, though. Grin

LanaorAna2 · 17/08/2018 16:24

Cheeky monkey, your manager. Mine have been disrespectful and disobedient on occasion too. Dumb animals, really.

VT emailed round family hysterically and immediately :)

Ollivander84 · 17/08/2018 21:12

Ollies rules of howling

3am. Peaceful, food there, bed, warm. Must shout "owwwww weeeee" constantly

Want to come in from the pouring rain at 7pm? Sit outside silently blinking at the door telling human telepathically that you want to come in

HmmConfused

How do you respond to the 03.00 tirade?

Ollivander84 · 17/08/2018 22:09

He gets shut in the living room

OP posts:
LanaorAna2 · 17/08/2018 22:17

Good job too. They can overdo it and cert 18 soundtrack all night long definitely ain't sweet.

Ollivander84 · 17/08/2018 22:20

Overdo it isn't the word
Owwwwww. Eeeeee. Owwwww. Right next to my ear

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 17/08/2018 22:21

Ah. But what do you actually say. Smile

Ollivander84 · 17/08/2018 22:26

It depends. The odd howl I ignore. The ones where he hasn't shut up, I have gone full nuclear with voice that stuns half a ton of horse into silence. He runs off, is silent for 5 minutes and then starts again

OP posts:
Ollivander84 · 17/08/2018 22:27

As for the actual words it's very much along "Ollie! STFU NOW ENOUGH HOWLING"

LanaorAna2 · 17/08/2018 22:29

It's tricky to Be Calm But Firm when you are knackered, if not half asleep, and pissed off.

Ever tried letting your feelings show? That would do the trick.Go for it, I would. Bawl back and shut him out wordlessly. Wordless works quite well IMHE.

As Cozie reminded me once (actually more than once) We are Women, We Are Strong. Grin What do you think C?

cozietoesie · 17/08/2018 22:33

I would try talking to him. (It often works with loud animals.) You need to say A LOT - basically, shut him down with quantity.
