C it's rained in London. Might go and see if Spirit of Seniorboy is still in bloom by the cafe.

cozietoesie · 30/07/2018 12:27

Quote from DBro about PB. 'He doesn't do a lot, does he? ' Grin

YetAnotherSpartacus · 30/07/2018 13:14

has he given you a snuggle yet?

LanaorAna2 · 30/07/2018 13:34

Grin I suspect DBro is undergoing an initial assessment for training. PB is engaged on observation Grin prior to finding suitable duties.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/07/2018 14:03

It's better than having asbo, the cat who does lots. Sometimes you could swear there's two of him.

Allergictoironing · 30/07/2018 17:45

"Do a lot"? What does he expect an emperor to do apart from sleeping and looking magnificent, and being fed by his personal slave?

LanaorAna2 · 30/07/2018 22:01

Dbro strikes me as the capable type, given he is related to you C. He has probably long nurtured ideas of 'animals' as industrious strivers, ever keen to support their human family with enthusiastic, helpful labour.

Dbro is thinking of 'dogs'.

I swear that cats evolved to be, or at any rate look, so sweet that humans just melt on sight and do it all for them. This is my important evolutionary theory, based on key scientific research such as Sunday pm Pick TV's Monkey Life.

Apes adopt kittens as well, in captivity at any rate. Purring is a classic example of symbiosis (where two animals benefit from each other) - ape (human or gorilla) gets lower blood pressure, cat gets chin rub, naturally delaying the offered health benefits till you hit peak tickle. The whole pet+person relationship is similar. Well, meant to be.

cozietoesie · 30/07/2018 22:04

DBro makes more positive comments when he feels that PB is responding - to HIM. Grin

LanaorAna2 · 30/07/2018 22:17

Funny that Grin

The enslavement has begun, evidently. He'll be browsing Pets at home website by the end of the week.

Ollivander84 · 30/07/2018 22:20

Helpfully my fridge freezer has gone poof and stopped working Angry
Ollie is fine obviously with all the tins. Human is on slightly odd food combinations and slightly peeved at the lost of £££ of food

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 30/07/2018 22:21

He already thinks I get PB too much nosh - he's clearly thinking about it. Wink

LanaorAna2 · 30/07/2018 22:51

O - what a sickener. Can the neighbours come to the rescue? If worst comes to worst & they can't keep it for you they might as well eat it... You might feel slightly - very slightly - better & they will love you for ever.

C PB will be reclining in a hand-embroidered, cashmere LWT4 by Xmas. :) PB is not overfed, DBro can't let himself be heard saying that. We don't want a, er, liquid reaction. :)

Ollivander84 · 30/07/2018 22:57

I've donated the food to a family Smile
New fridge freezer arriving tomorrow!

OP posts:
LanaorAna2 · 30/07/2018 23:11

Lovely thing to do! At least it didn't go at Xmas with all the treats in it, that's usually when they blow up.

Nice shiny new one will get so much use in this heat it's a smart move (notwithstanding the horrifying temporary bankruptcy).

cozietoesie · 30/07/2018 23:25

Well done, Ollivander.

Ollivander84 · 30/07/2018 23:41

Yes a full freezer, and I had just done a fresh food shop. Probably £100 worth AngrySad
But the family that took it all seemed v grateful and happy and messaged to say thank you

OP posts:
Ollivander84 · 31/07/2018 09:35

Lily's kitchen have brought out some new cat food. I messaged them and they're sending some samples which are arriving today Grin for fat cat

LanaorAna2 · 31/07/2018 10:32

Ooh, the excitement. Bet that family are enjoying their new food as well :)

PS No freezer ever has exploded while not stuffed with expensive delicacies.

Ollivander84 · 31/07/2018 10:47

Oh there was everything in there. Ben and Jerrys IC, chips, chicken, ready to cook musclefood stir fries, yoghurt, berries, milk, feta cheese, goats cheese, ready meals, frozen veg....

LanaorAna2 · 31/07/2018 10:56

It's always the best stuff. They must be in heaven Grin esp the kids Grin Grin

You've got to replace the ice cream, you can't be robbed of that. Inhuman not to have some B&J while watching telly at night.

In other depressing financial news, I've just had the vet on the phone. Mr C requires further thyroid treatment.

Had a long discussion about Mr C's stealing ham, which is apparently allowed.

Vet 'A little bit of what you fancy does you good'. Me 'It's the whole packet of ham. He gets it out of the shopping and hides it under the sofa'. 'Vet: 'Cheeky monkey.'

Ollivander84 · 31/07/2018 13:11

Just having a quick nap on the blanket the merino wool one he hated

Cats rarely, in my experience, truly hate anything. Opportunity is all. Grin

LanaorAna2 · 31/07/2018 17:57
Grin

Mr C is getting hot as the temp goes back up but has still firmly sat with me all day, all sleepy and fluffy. You haven't got the heating on have you C?

cozietoesie · 31/07/2018 18:04

How did you know?? Grin ( Put on this afternoon - first time in a while - to dry clothes, towels etc.)

LanaorAna2 · 31/07/2018 20:14

I had my suspicions :) Quite a good idea to turn it on and off occasionally as well :) Not just in CT :)

So hot here that the chrome heated towel rails have been turned off for the first time since the 1930s. No one thought it could be done - landlords get them installed with no off switches to avoid damp. Everyone's suddenly realised their heating bills will be very yellow sticker, hope the same applies to you.

My feeling that PB may not be a yellow-sticker kinda guy niggles :)
