Pop it may be the washing machine, fridge or fish tank! When we first got him the washing machine was on and he wouldn't come in the kitchen. I didn't think till last night! The fridge and fish tank make noises so 🤷‍♀️!

Praisebe I love the kitten cuddles! Hope he's still a cuddly boy when he's grown Sad

Sashh I feel like he's a newborn and I'm updating on nappies!!!

Wee/poo update:

No puddles or anything overnight nothing new in litter tray. Checked on him twice in night and he was fast asleep both times so perhaps has been asleep all night!

Ok.....

We've had one wee in the tray and one on the puppy pad under the tray. 2 poos on the puppy pad as well!

Yay! Well done Louis. I think you'll get there.

Praisebe · 14/05/2018 21:16

We had a few wees in the bed too and a very liquid poo on the floor at one point Envy even now he still has the odd accident if he's playing and gets confused and he must be about 6 months old now and we got him around 4-6 weeks old when he was found

abbsisspartacus · 14/05/2018 21:20

Have you tried a covered litter tray? My one cat didn't like being looked at

Also shredded newspaper instead of litter

Hopefully it's not a one off!
He's just gone to bed, no crying or anything in the bathroom 🙌🏼

Thank you all again for all your help, it is much appreciated Thanks

I found a lightweight litter like a paper based one is best for baby cats their paws are so delicate and sensitive at that age they don't like the feel of hard litter on them so it discourages them from it. Also has to be lightweight while they learn to dig and not more than an inch deep

user1492621884 · 14/05/2018 22:36

Oooh I've quite a thick layer in there actually! I'll tip some out in the morning!

OP posts:
Praisebe · 14/05/2018 22:39

My big cat loves a good thick layer but the little lad is so fussy with it he has to have a certain brand at a certain thickness before he'll decide its up to his standards Hmm

Try putting his bed in a cardboard box 📦. You put the box on its side so he has a ‘roof and walls’. They like to feel secure.

If you find that he’s peeing on his bed, then put it in a thick plastic bin bag, place in a pillow case and cover with a throw. It means you’re not constantly washing the bed, just the covers. Though you have to wipe the plastic.

If he still pees on your sofa, you can cover it with puppy pads and then put a washable throw over it.

You don’t need to use expensive sprays, just wash your floors with non bio washing powder, as it neutralises urine. Don’t use strong scented cleaners as that may actually encourage him to mark those areas.

Contrary to what people think, cats can not see in complete darkness, so if you are closing him in the bathroom at night, is it pitch black?

Enjoy. I only gave four cats now and they’re all in their (human years) late 80s.

Gave = have

user1492621884 · 14/05/2018 23:24

Thank you for your advice positivity! I'll try the bed thing.

No he's not in complete darkness he has a nightlight in the bathroom with him and also the outside light stays on all night which is outside the bathroom so has that too.

Aww this thread makes me so happy to hear a little kitty has his own music, his own nightlight and a loving family.

I’m all out of advice tbh OP, you’ve had lots of great ideas here but just wanted to give baby Louis my love!

user1492621884 · 15/05/2018 10:45

Awww thank you Pop Thanks

We had a little wee on the sofa this morning, but a poo in the box unprompted.

We're getting there I think!

He is one spoilt kitty that's for sure 😻
