Screaming it's on Spotify. One is called relax my cat music to help with anxiety and the other one is called sleep music for cats. It seems to help.

I Probably sound like an absolute crazy cat lady. My parents laughed their heads off at me when I said he has music at night 🤭
I don't want him to be scared though and I'll try anything to help him!

Fluffy I said that but as soon as I saw him I was like ooooh you can sleep anywhere you like cos you are the cutest thing I've ever seen in my whole life 💙

Should I put the bed in or is that just another thing he can use as a loo!

Put it in with a cover over it.

CatchingBabies · 13/05/2018 20:26

This is why Kittens shouldn’t be rehomed at 8 weeks, lots of research now to say 12 weeks is best as they learn a lot from their Mum and siblings after 8 weeks. The only reason rescues don’t keep them longer is they can’t afford to. Hope you manage to teach him x

user1492621884 · 13/05/2018 20:33

Will do fluffy thank you!

Catching i quite agree but he's here now he's part of our family already.
I'm gutted that we took him at 8 weeks and should have waited but they wanted him gone ASAP so what could we do, couldn't leave him.

The fact they wanted him gone ASAP should have been a warning sign. I have 10 week old Kittens here and I’ll be heartbroken when they go. Why did they want him gone so quick? Perhaps they were sick of wee and poo all over the house? I know it’s too late now but if people stopped buying these kittens the sellers would stop breeding them.

EmmaC78 · 13/05/2018 21:01

I agree that it might just be an age thing. I got both my cats from a breeder and they don't rehome until 13 weeks and both were already litter trained.

Are you properly scrubbing the area where he is peeing. Although you think it is clean he can probably still smell it. Maybe try some lemon or vinegar to take away the smell.

user1492621884 · 13/05/2018 21:19

Catching I appreciate you taking the time to reply, but this isn't about the previous people getting rid of the kittens early or their reasons why.
I'm happy that we've given Louis a lovely home with everything he could need. Yes it may have been early. Yes I feel bad that he's been taken from his mum. Yes I feel bad that he hasn't been litter trained.
We are doing everything we possibly can to make sure he feels safe, loved and secure in his new home. Like I said before if i have to follow him round for months I'll do it because that's what I signed up for when we took a kitten on. And yes before you say he'll be getting neutered.

I've always had kittens at 8 weeks. Always. I've never encountered the litter tray problems you're having so I wouldn't worry that his age is the reason and this would all be different if he was only 10 weeks or 12 weeks old

user1492621884 · 13/05/2018 21:56

Tansy hopefully he's just a bit slower than usual to master it yet. I don't know! He didn't like the soil in the tray either!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

On the evening of 13th May 2018, King Louis the Kitten of WC St. , The Hallway, United Kingdom has succeeded in DOING A PIDDLE IN HIS LITTER TRAY!!!

We had this with an abandoned kitten we took in a while ago. I found putting him in a cat carrier with the door shut with a litter tray helped him know where to go. Once they have gone a few times they soon pick up on their scent and know that's where to go but don't expect them to be fully trained till they are at least 12 weeks old and have developed the urge to go

SuttonHooHoo · 13/05/2018 22:21

Yay! Well done Louie Grin

user1492621884 · 13/05/2018 22:42

Maybe a one off but I'm taking it! It was a definite big patch of wee 👏🏼

Never thought I'd be so excited over cat wee! 😂

We've retreated back to the bathroom. The noise was horrendous poor thing he was petrified.
Took his bits to bathroom and went back a second ago and he's fast asleep on the floor wedged up against the wall under the loo Sad
Clearly he's happy in the bathroom!

Praisebe · 13/05/2018 23:49

Wish my boy was still that little if i try pick him up for a cuddle now he pushes away and wants to be all independentSad
When we first got him he slept in my arms day and night because he couldn't bear to be alone

POPholditdown · 14/05/2018 01:45

Ohh well done Louis!

I love this thread, he is such a sweetheart. Love the latest pic too, he knows how good he’s got it!

POPholditdown · 14/05/2018 01:47

Also, love his preferred sleeping spot behind the looGrin

Do you know what scared him OP?

sashh · 14/05/2018 06:17

Well done Louie, let's hope it is the first of many.

OP

DOn't worry about the updates on pee, I watch Foster Dad John, at times there is an international audience telling the kittens to, 'pee, pee for freedom'
