help pregnant stray!

Please help guys. Yesterday a stray cat wondered in, she's very pregnant. Kitten movements are visible and I can feel them.
Had her checked by emergency vet this am, she is fine although a little skinny apart from huge belly.
I've put notice up and vet has details however have not put that she is pregnant as dp is worried someone may claim her just to sell kittens.
So, I have made a box for her which she is in. She's very friendly with me but not keen on dp.
What the hell do I do now?!

Ours made chirruping sounds when labour was imminent.

Ours also went very very affectionate and wouldn't leave us alone.

When it starts stay away as much as possible. In watching distance but leave her to it. She'll have one, lick the kitten, chew the umbilical cord and eat the placenta.

Once that's over number 2 usually makes an appearance. And it repeats itself.

Have to say ours coped remarkably well and needed little help. I helped pop the kittens into nipple a couple of times but only because Mum was long haired and nipple was v difficult to find.

Clean blankets / towels after the birth and leave them to it.

Lots of kitten food for Mum, fish too if you can. Water and kitten milk for Mum if she'll have it

She may well want the box after the kittens are born

Gd luck!

I got very excited briefly thinking she was having contractions but turned out to be hiccups Blush

Exciting!

wolloby · 10/05/2018 08:25

Any kittens??

captainjacksparrow · 10/05/2018 08:29

No nothing still. She slept all night on my chest purring constantly. I'm working today - dp is home, so I imagine I may end up missing everything and if I do dp just won't take as many kittens pics as I would Angry

Keep hopeful - they tend to prefer night time births, like humans Grin

Imchlibob · 10/05/2018 09:16

Following for cute kitten pics!
Whereabouts in the country are you? We are up for rehoming any kittens that your DP thinks are in excess of how many cats will fit in your house.

SparklyMagpie · 10/05/2018 09:33

How lovely of you and DP for taking Kim in :)

Fingers crossed all goes smoothly for her and thank goodness she has you two looking out for her !

Also placemarking for the pics Grin

You're so lovely OP and I'm imagining you having lots of snuggles with Kim. My girly is sat next to me attempting to moult all over my cross stitch. I'm guessing you aren't keen to post photos of her here but we are absolutely interested in kitten pictures. Ahem, in case your OH needs telling!!
Hope she does ok overnight and Tiggy is still speaking to you!

POPholditdown · 10/05/2018 18:45
