PPPPrrrrrtttt! wot a sweetie, have you tried chirruping back. Known in this house as 'happy pratting' , me and Mr C can get up to six in a row.

Mr C at vet end this week. NB is thriving!! Heard caretaker doing the feeding earlier, screams of joy as he appeared. Dachshund spotted too, now spherical and smiles at me.

cozietoesie · 21/02/2018 21:21

Anything with red feathers is now being jauntily carried off somewhere..........Grin

Which one was screaming with joy?? NB or the caretaker? Wink

LanaorAna2 · 21/02/2018 21:47

They both were!! And the owner was allowed to join in.... :)

cozietoesie · 21/02/2018 21:58

The 'owner' sounds like a second fiddle. Smile

She is, now. Needless to say I am still forking out to feed NB, which is fine, but you would have thought, wouldn't you. She hasn't said thanks. Anyway, he's happy, the caretaker is happy and the dachshund is the size of a collie, so satisfaction all round here :)

cozietoesie · 21/02/2018 22:33

....the size of a collie....??

OP posts:
LanaorAna2 · 21/02/2018 22:50

A small collie. He's obsessed with NB's Royal Canin.

Weezol · 21/02/2018 23:40

'Happy pratting' is berting here. My ruler goes 'brrrrrrt' at me and I reply. Can go on for ages, especially if I'm in a different room. It's like some kind of cat sonar.

cozietoesie · 22/02/2018 05:22

I can't sleep tonight - and he's staying in his LWT, more or less. Smile

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 22/02/2018 05:28

PS - no getting up to biff mice around. Smile (Which he normally does at about 2.30. He's had one desultory saunter.)

Our collie always eats The Lodger's leftovers. Having said which, I recall an acquaintance commenting how good it was to see a collie that wasn't overweight. Wink

PB's fully passed out, always a good sign.

C Bad luck with the insomnia. It might be the change in weather, you can get chilled to the bones without realising and knacker your internal thermostat. Awake for hours. Not that this could apply to PB :)

A brandy might help. I do lying-down stretches, they work brilliantly, but you have to do them for a week or two before the craving for slumber kicks in.

Weezol · 22/02/2018 14:11

Sorry if this is derailing, but lying down stretches sound intriguing to this insomniac - is there a reputable site that explains how? I don't have parental controls set and googling brought up some, er, interesting results.

LanaorAna2 · 22/02/2018 15:15

Well, you know how a cat does really satisfying stretches before they settle down? like that.

So... lie flat on back. Breathe in through nose to 5 out via mouth for 8 throughout.

Start by flexing & splaying toes, hold, release. Ankles stretch out next, hold, release. Calves, knees, then hands; carry on go up through your body clenching and releasing till you get to your shoulders. Keep breathing right - that's the difficult bit.

For shoulders - press them down and at the same time pull your shoulderblades in to the middle of the back, still not allowing them to rise. Shrug shoulders a bit, slooooowly.

At this point your cat will be intimating displeasure at the risk of being disturbed, so flick the light out.

LanaorAna2 · 22/02/2018 15:24

The key is to accept that it probably won't work for a week but it will get better, perseverance is the annoying secret.

Also it helps if your furry Pilates pal, by your side natch, gets a mood on if you stretch too vigorously or for too long - slow and elegant for 3 min is the way to land of nod for you both.

C shall I start on some more biffers? Waiting in for the washing machine repairman (don't ask).

Afraid that the white night last night has made me out of sorts. I'm currently trying to steel myself to undertake some significant chores.

Bad luck Cozie, don't do most of them. The world will carry on turning regardless; feeding PB excepted. Whatever you can do is brilliant and a big plus, but manana is always there.

LanaorAna2 · 22/02/2018 20:51

whatever you do, line up something brilliant on screen in case it happens again. Making the effort to set that up guarantees you sleep through at least half of it, ruining it forever Grin

cozietoesie · 22/02/2018 20:54

I think it's going to have to be........Wink

PB has, seemingly, made his peace with the fan heater. Before today it frightened him silly. Today, he sat in front of the heated air and washed some. (Then gave me a mouthful when it switched itself off via thermostatic control.)

Grin Really remarkable talent for the finer points of self-expression.

Ollivander84 · 22/02/2018 21:02

I have made an omelette with O sitting screaming at me. He's been sent out the room to brood on his sins which seems to involve mournful howling
I had a stern word with myself after realising I was contemplating not cooking because I couldn't deal with the cat noise Blush

LanaorAna2 · 22/02/2018 21:15

Required at once: a stiff drink and a blanket on. Not for PB, for you (for a change) :)

Mr C has stolen a double-yellow-stickered Oriental prawn. He won't eat it, perish the thought; I have to peel off the Oriental Crumb Coat and hand feed him the LW bits. Slightly disappointed as I was rather looking forward to it myself, there were only 4.

cozietoesie · 22/02/2018 21:35

Ah. For a Siamese, serious howling upon exclusion usually means they don't understand what they've done wrong. Did you tie the exclusion to a known sin-type?
