She came out of the carrier immediately, ate the entire lunch I'd put down, and then explored the 'safe room' thoroughly while I was still in there.

I went out of the room for a few minutes and left her to it. When I came back, she was waiting patiently by the door wanting to come out into the next room. So we did that, and she explored every nook and cranny.

She is a beautiful cat OP.
This made me giggle:

she was brought in aged about 8 months, pregnant with kittens

I am so glad she wasn't pregnant with piglets.

She looks happy and loved , lovely thread ! Smile

Beautiful pussycat! My rescue kitten was exactly the same, walked out of the carrier, bombed around as if she owned the place within 5 minutes much to the bemusement of the two other cat residents!

cliffdiver · 10/12/2017 19:56

More pictures needed op, she is gorgeous!

Want2beme · 10/12/2017 22:11

She's delightful. It's great when they're so confident & you know you don't have to fret about them too much.

TheSecondOfHerName · 10/12/2017 23:36

She has been constantly 'on' since arriving at lunchtime. She seeks interaction, and has cycled between play mode, affection mode and explore mode for ten hours. She must be exhausted!

Several times we tried to leave her alone to give her a break; each time she followed us to the door, tried to go out with us and then waited by the door for us to return.

She finished her lunch (small amount dry food) and dinner (whole pouch wet food) and has drunk some water.

She hasn't yet availed herself of the litter tray; hopefully that will happen overnight.

What did you call her in the end?

TheSecondOfHerName · 10/12/2017 23:49

Missy. It was the only name all six of us could agree on!

Good morning Missy! Has she used her tray yet?

cherrycola2004 · 11/12/2017 10:39

she's beautiful!

TheSecondOfHerName · 11/12/2017 10:54

No signs of elimination yet, but she ate breakfast happily.

TheSecondOfHerName · 11/12/2017 11:41

She has now completed that task. Smile
Both number 1 and number 2.

YAY MISSY!!!!!

TheSecondOfHerName · 11/12/2017 15:58

She is quite little (2.6kg).
I'm guessing she might grow a bit more, but I don't think she's ever going to be huge.

Chirruping is her talking to you.

TheSecondOfHerName · 11/12/2017 18:26

She sounds like a tribble (from Star Trek).
It's very sweet.

We've been trying to do interactive play using a crinkly shiny fish toy that dangles from a fishing rod. As soon as she catches it, she walks around with it in her mouth (like a dog) dragging the string and rod behind her, and will not relinquish it. 😄
