Oh cozie. I know you are so patient, but that anecdote about absentminded stroke and then "Oh, Just Be Quiet" has really got me. One of ours is sometimes a bit of a moody growler, for no reason, but she's always been happy for the fuss in the run-up. Poor old you that Newboy can't be persuaded into a purr at the moment Sad

Still, it will come. I reckon keep trying despite the hissing and he might surprise himself.

Lanaorana2 · 28/09/2017 10:41

even Big Red used to hiss when he was stroked while eating, he never liked competition - although obv one tried it on with him then because it was the only chance you'd get for a cuddle.

Hissing is good - autoreaction - he didn't run away. We might get a Christmas kiss you know!!!!!

I would like to report that after an exhaustive survey taken on behalf of ladies in their prime by myself and and an eminent medical consultant, Aldi gin is best with fevertree tonic and cucumber. Most acceptable, we conclude.

In an attempt to impress my mate who is a researcher of note, I got 4 lots of tonic and a lime, a lemon and a cucumber with which to experiment. And some orange juice. 'Science' I slurred as we fought our way through the options.

The crisps she brought were one variable too many although I ate them at 3am hanging off the sofa with my tights down.

He's going to wait until cozie is lay on the floor in despair, and drunk off gin and then wander over purring like "what? I've always been like this"

Cosie - have you tried the loosely closed fist near his face so he can sniff it? all the better if it has a dreamies in it. I've been told this is less threatening to cats than a stroke or a hand held out.

cozietoesie · 28/09/2017 13:47

I haven't. I think ('think') that it's any part of ME, though, so I'm reluctant to.

He's talking away at the moment. (On the ground floor.) I think he's starting to modulate his voice just a little. (It's still a heck of a noise, though.)

Ollivander84 · 28/09/2017 13:49

Is he really loud? Or just a sort of insistent tone? I'm nosy as to what he sounds like Grin

YetAnotherSpartacus · 28/09/2017 13:52

You could try holding a dreamie on a lightly clenched fist maybe? I'm just trying to think of an appropriate olive branch or ice-breaker in case he's wondering why you are not making the first move.

cozietoesie · 28/09/2017 14:06

Or 'just'? He's both. (And more besides. Grin) I don't think he's used to having everything answered, though. And I can keep going longer than he does. Wink

cozietoesie · 28/09/2017 14:09

That's a thought, Spartacus........ He's certainly highly (very highly) food motivated. Smile

Ollivander84 · 28/09/2017 14:14

Or just sit on the floor and scatter food around yourself Grin
Ollie will do anything for a pork scratching

YetAnotherSpartacus · 28/09/2017 14:16

Ollie will do anything for a pork scratching

Except he doesn't need to, does he? :) maybe he needs to work on it for his second or third helping

Ollivander84 · 28/09/2017 14:23

I can't resist the chirruping... the big eyes... the holding a paw up
Who could resist this face?!

Newboy: sequel that's better than the original
cozietoesie · 28/09/2017 14:25

Me. Smile

YetAnotherSpartacus · 28/09/2017 14:28

Not me :).

Ollivander84 · 28/09/2017 14:37

I did resist when he patted my face the other morning and declared it breakfast time. At FOUR AM. No. He got told to go back to bed and shut up Blush

cozietoesie · 28/09/2017 14:40

Newboy wouldn't dare wake me up for food. Grin Seniorboy was permitted the Paw of Remonstrance if I seriously exceeded acceptable limits but that was a privilege of age. Wink

Ollivander84 · 28/09/2017 14:43

I think what happened was he fell asleep in the living room then came in to find me at that time. He changes sleeping spots during the night! Especially if I fidget too much

YetAnotherSpartacus · 28/09/2017 14:43

Newboy wouldn't dare wake me up for food. grin

Yet.

cozietoesie · 28/09/2017 14:44

There are limits, Spartacus. Grin

Lanaorana2 · 28/09/2017 15:40

Don't go there, anyone. Mr C is dreadful for night feed neediness. Last night he did wall of death laps round the bottom of the bed for hours and hours, strangulation noises as finale. I used Old English to express my opinion and we went back to sleep. He just tries it on. He'd had several extra meals and sweets due me being drunk.

Ollivander84 · 28/09/2017 15:43

Ollie mainly does this weird thing where he rubs the side of his face/mouth along my nose. Or just licks my face until I wake up. Like having a small dog really Confused

cozietoesie · 28/09/2017 15:54

And what do you do if he tries it? Wink

Ollivander84 · 28/09/2017 15:56

Well I'm asleep so I can't anticipate Grin
Usually bat him away as I'm half awake and growl. Generally he then settles down on my chest and sleeps

cozietoesie · 28/09/2017 18:21

He didn't go down to the kitchen for his tea. Sad
