And!! We had a flood in my craft room in March, had to put everything in the living room, desk, huge bookcase etc.
We eventually put everything back last weekend, after the room had been completely stripped, re-plastered etc.
What did I find underneath the desk? Hidden from view and accessible only to small cats?
Furry cat sick.
It had clearly been there for a loooong time.
Made me feel quite nauseous!

Lanaorana2 · 26/09/2017 11:18

Germ that is truly awful for you. Hope the recovery is going well under a nice fluffy new duvet.

I get mine washed at the laundrette, costs 20 quid but worth it for the familiarity :)

I bought a new one on Amazon Prime Smile
We threw it away and then I realised that a new dry cleaner has opened literally 100 years down the road. it was too late by the time I noticed.
The new one is nice though.

Germgirl · 26/09/2017 12:26

Yards. Not years. Bloody phone.

RubbishMantra · 26/09/2017 12:54

MCat chooses the sick spot with deliberation too. The other day - rug rolled back to avoid getting paint on it. MCat climbs the mound and did a really stinky puke on the top, dribbling through all layers. Cheers pal! Funnily though, Little M's never ever been sick, AFAIK.

cozietoesie · 26/09/2017 13:00

I suspect that it's the coat/grooming that does it.

I know that Seniorboy was groomed as often as I could - daily sometimes - and after he had his dental, I don't recall him ever being sick. (I took a massive amount of loose hair off him over the years through grooming: all hair which would have gone into his stomach.)

Ollivander84 · 26/09/2017 13:15

Yeah I know when Ollie is due for his jab for overgrooming as he starts being sick

cozietoesie · 26/09/2017 13:20

Maybe you should try doing all his grooming yourself - so that he becomes used to the notion that it's something you do?

Ollivander84 · 26/09/2017 13:50

I do Grin he adores his brush

cozietoesie · 26/09/2017 13:54

Seniorboy did also. It was 'attention' as much as practicality.

How often do you brush him?

Ollivander84 · 26/09/2017 16:18

Probably every other day. He starts purring the minute he sees the brush

Germgirl · 26/09/2017 16:40

I wish PicklePig would allow me to brush him. It's the only time he gets grumpy & bitey.

cozietoesie · 26/09/2017 16:56

I'd try for daily if you can. (You might not always manage it.)

Lanaorana2 · 26/09/2017 17:07

Grooming is a brilliant healthcheck. I can tell what Mr C's thyroid is up to by brushing his fur. Unbelievably thick = overactive; soft and shiny = on the right dose. I have the same disease, but the other way, ie underactive so hair falls out. My hairdresser tells me if I need more meds. :)

Blatant showing off: me and Mr C are both on megadoses of thyroid chems. He is on twice the dose they give some humans, mine is 15 times his.

Thing is, once you hit a certain age it's bloody difficult to get the monster pills because they can produce instant heart attack. Second thing, medics know anyone with dodgy thyroid wouldn't care re measly cardiac arrest and they ration them brutally.

So...I got me and Mr C ECGed and we both had perfect readings. They showed mine round the cardio dept :) Mr C's vet rang me to praise his :)

Loves brush Hmm
He won't let me groom around his lower belly which is the only bit he over grooms (lower belly, bits and inside thighs)

Newboy: sequel that's better than the original
cozietoesie · 26/09/2017 17:48

Difficult one because you won't want to disrupt that good grooming relationship....

How does he show his displeasure?

Ollivander84 · 26/09/2017 17:53

Shouts "no no no mama" and wriggles away from me while glaring
I can only get to those bits when he's upside down too which isn't that often

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/09/2017 18:35

We have polished porcelain floor tiles, noticeable look of distress when he's sick & there's nothing to grip onto.

Lana I don't doubt it, my colleague likes being over but they removed it & now she can't get as much done.

Some good cat food offers on Amazon btw, extra 25% off too if you hit subscribe & save. And then hit suspend deliveries when it arrives.

Madcats · 26/09/2017 19:34

Oh Madcat(2) threw up early on Monday morning! Are the lads all synchronising through the internet? The 1/2 landing is his favoured starting point, because he can then continue all the way down the stairs...across the room to the kitchen.

These days he usually just vomits the day after we get back from holiday (very loudly on the stairs at about 5am, subject to ambient temperature, to show his displeasure).

He's not the best at grooming, lazy slacker, but he might have been a bit too enthusiastic after a roast chicken lunch on Sunday. Madcat(2) sheds tons so we have an ugly plastic brush that he seems to love

Flowers for Germ, get better soon.

I might check out Amazon; tend to buy in bulk from Bitiba.

Lanaorana2 · 26/09/2017 19:49

Fluffy catsan is half the price on Amazon than Tesco, even when they bump it up when you've already bought it idiotically thinking you won't notice and they are moustache-twirlingly devious.

Well spotted, Girlfriend - off to investigate the foods.

You're on fire tonight F! I'm using this for sure, as that makes Catsan a fiver instead of 25 quid and I don't have to stagger back with it from Tesco. Result, thanks a million.

Lanaorana2 · 27/09/2017 22:19

cozietoesie · 27/09/2017 22:59

All very quiet tonight. I put a hand down to stroke him absent-mindedly last night - he was eating in the kitchen - and received a hiss for my pains. (I'm tempted to hiss back but I tried hissing with Oneago some years back and - once I'd scraped him off the hall wall Grin- he took ages to settle. Instead, I just told Newboy 'Oh Just Be Quiet' and he looked rather shame faced.)

I hardly want to tempt fate by saying that the accidents have stopped. But they have. Smile
