The little furry fuckers

that arrived 3 weeks ago have so far

  • shredded a net curtain
  • disconnected and chewed the TV connection to the satellite dish
  • squeezed into hiding places that I didn't know existed - cue me squeezing behind shelves to find a pair of eyes in the shadows
  • walked on my chest at 4am every morning shouting for breakfast/to play (and thus are learning that their names at this time of night are "Fuck Off" and "Are You Mental") - before you think I'm cruel, they have a bowl of dry food always available
  • generated more vile smelling poo that I've ever had to deal with from DD
  • are going to cost me €500 for jabs, spaying and microchipping
  • prefer very cheap wet food to the nice Royal Canin that I treated them to - the rescue had them on Whiskas
  • have part bankrupted me with toys/cat trees/cat caves that just look soo cute and of course they prefer the box

But are worth it as they are just cute as bejaysis!

Anyone else with a furry overlord who prefers the cheap food - and is it OK to compensate for it with decent dry food?

Mine decided to get into an argument with another cat at half 11 last night. I rushed out in just a dressing gown (which doesn't exactly do up, luckily it was dark!) and called her in. I found her up on the road, staring at something, then she started wandering into the road which gave me palpitations (our house is a wee way back from the road so she has a safe area to wander, but the road itself is not great. Cars zoom down there, especially at night, but infrequently, so gives a false sense of security. I didn't think she wandered onto it at all. But apparently she does.)

Of course, she didn't want to lose face in front of the other cat so was reluctant to come in. I had to go and fetch the Temptations and shake them vigorously, but even then she still took her time. Probably annoyed the neighbours but I don't care. Of course, she immediately wanted to go out again but I refused to let her.

Dude I have a lovely image of you shaking 5 blokes with one hand while they sing a garbled version of "My Girl", and holding a dressing gown shut with the other...

demented It was the fine flakes that made a reappearance, I've given them something different today, will be...interesting to see if there's a little pile on the floor when I get home from work.

I actually shut them in the kitchen this morning at 6.30am - otherwise they would have been up and down the uncarpeted stairs. I reckon the kitchen is probably the room where they will least disturb the neighbours (and me). Wonder if they will learn that the kitchen is where they go when they misbehave? However it's also the room with the food. Hopefully they will see it as bribery!

valeriarrgh is your name anything to do with Hodgesarrgh? Or did the cats just get you at an inopportune moment? Smile

Shaking them by the shoulders!

It isn't littlewoollypervert though that would be good. I wish I'd thought of that! Carpe Jugulum is one of my favourite TP novels.

DudeHatesHisCarryOut · 03/08/2017 09:57

Still not clear how I'm supposed to be shaking 5 blokes' shoulders, one-handed, all at the same time but never mind. I fear I'm thinking about this too much!

Just for variation, I was sat on the sofa reading last night, looked up, and HRH was staring intently at the space beneath my seat. Then I realised I could hear scurrying noises. Great! It kept her amused for ages. Me, didn't enjoy it quite so much. She was on the sofa when I got back from shutting the outdoor menagerie up, and was still there, curled up, this morning. No idea where rodent-under-the-sofa ended up. Might still be there for all I know. I swear she's moving in a colony one by one, just so she has some in the house for a rainy day!

And that's the other thing. Her current bed of choice is the sofa. Until recently she'd spend the evening in her tent, and move to the sofa when I'd got up, or, alternatively, curl up by me for a while first. Twice, recently, she's moaned at me so I think she wants food, only for her to then claim her spot. Cheek!!!

My dear girls have turned into fuckers whilst ive been slaving away on a night shift. I was warned about Torties people gave me a funny look when ever i took the sweet little thing anywhere. My big tabby has always been an angel i just to brag that she'd never climbed up the curtains or scratched my furnature. The baby has practically pulled my blinds down. Theyve both been trapped in them this morning bouncing off my open windows. I know those flat cats are guaranteed but if one of them flies through through the window and ends up clinging to the top of the 263 i wont be laughing. Bastards.

littlewoollypervert · 03/08/2017 20:00

It's innate - they are all fuckers under the skin.

One of my wee shitbags woke us up at 4.37am by coming into the room and miaowing for no apparent reason. He was told to shut up and go away! He is sooo loud, must love the sound of his own voice. The other wee fluff ball is really quiet compared to him.

Fortmentera - I'm waiting for that to happen, don't worry. It's more comfortable than under the bath, which is where she used to keep them!

littlewoollypervert · 04/08/2017 11:28

Mine are indoor so far (getting first vaccinations tomorrow) so no little 'presents' yet. Although they did track a flying ant all over the house one day with great interest. I haven't seen it since so I suspect one of them had a little snack.

Another puke this morning - Margo delivered all last night's food looking completely unchanged. She had been racing round earlier, and tucked happily into some Whiskas about 5 mins after the puke, so I don't think she's sick - I reckon they just don't like the paté style food.

So now I have 12 portions of it that won't be used. I'll give them to the vet tomorrow, I'm sure she will have some use for them.

Barbara has finally found her voice! She was completely silent for most of the last four weeks, but in the last 3 days she has miaowed about 3 times! (Margo was the noisy one up to now).

There is no hessian under my sofa (cheap IKEA one). So fingers crossed nowhere for furry hostages...

Beautiful cats!! the 2nd one looks like my gorgeous girl, they are so worth it though, my girl is 7 this year and still sticks her arse in my dh's face at 3am, I think it's a show of girl power , love the furry fuckers.

littlewoollypervert · 05/08/2017 08:45

I'm bringing them for their first vaccinations this morning. Should be interesting, Barbara hates being held...

littlewoollypervert · 05/08/2017 12:31

Jabs and working done, bet says they are teething and an all dry food diet is best (yay! I hate the smell of the wet!)

I'll leave them on the wet for a couple of days to get them over the jabs and the worming.

Also Barbara in particular is growing a bit of a beer belly - I'm feeding them a bit too much.

dementedpixie · 05/08/2017 12:54

I've also been told dry is best but I'm not sure I agree. From reading cats do better with a mix of wet and dry especially as cats don't drink a lot generally so get fluids from the wet food. I have dry down all the time and they now get a pouch each twice a day. When they were younger they had a small amount of wet food three or four times a day and dry left down.

dementedpixie · 05/08/2017 12:58

What age are your kittens? Mine are nearly 9 months old and we got them when they were 8 weeks old. Are you not giving them kitten wet/dry food?

Checklist · 05/08/2017 15:51

Yes, our two little darlings prefer Felix and Whiskas any day to expensive stuff! DH bought a huge tray of Whiskas tins by mistake recently, thinking they were pouches. BrotherCat must have recognised the colour, because his eyes nearly popped out of his head!

Whenever he realises we have both gone to bed, he sneaks down to the kitchen to try and open the tins! No luck so far!

I do try to buy the expensive dry food for when we are out, to make up for it!

EachandEveryone · 05/08/2017 23:09

Yes mine have phases i wouldnt want them completely on wet or dry. Onesfour months the other 13 months they have dry down all the tine and 1 pouch a day sometimes 2. I do find the kitten pouches pretty boring. She would live off felix so i give her expensive dry ro make yp for it. The bigger one likes Sheba or HiLife and expensive dry. Its all frustrating though isnt it? I hate waste.

littlewoollypervert · 06/08/2017 06:33

Mine are 15 weeks. I donate anything not used (too-shallow litter trays, pate style food that results in a puke etc).

And yes, I"m up at half 6 on a bank hol sunday - unheard of pre cats! Margo was all "I shall sing you the song of our people" in her little kitten squeak.
