It's normal to refer to ourselves as mummy and daddy to our cat right?

Oh yes... entirely normal.. we are Mummy and Daddy to our animals (dog and before she died, my horse). We (me, DH and dog) are now the three musketeers.. Dadtanian, Dogtanian and Hardtomiss (me!). Totally and utterly normal

I have a mummy's baby puppy. And mummy's kitten. It'd be weird not to!

Very normal - I call myself mommacat, my dds are sistercats, and my dm is nannycat. The dds refer to dcat as their brother!

I am mummy to my cat, and she is my baby. I tell her that every time I pick her up and cradle her like a baby and give her lots of kisses on her nose.

I am mummy to my 2 pet rabbits. They are my babies (even though they are actually old lady rabbits now and I have 2 human babies too).

Completely normal. When the kittens are wreaking havoc around the house I often tell them to wait till dad gets home! (& then he comes home and gives them cheese and fusses them).

Nellie love that you voice her. Have never heard of anyone doing that. How do you decide what voice to give them? One of my cats is from another country, so I speak to her in the language of that country, but I never imagine any of mine having a human voice. I love that idea.

Of course, if that's what your cat prefers.

When my OH hasn't contacted me in a while (while he's at work and I'm fed up being heavily pregnant) I send him questions from the cat to do ridiculous things. The best one so far is to ask permission to go to our local shopping precinct for a Steak Bake. We've given our cat a human voice and a personality. We call him the little lord.

Il go against the grain here & say I personally think it's absolutely weird, people used to refer to me as mummy to my pet rabbits, it made me cringe.

Don't listen to me though, I think it's weird when people refer to me as mummy to my son!

I don't do the mummy thing either, but I do think it's sweet to do so, it's just not me.

There was a thread on this the other day where people came and said it's weird because of all sorts of bizarre reasons like "it's insulting to my children" or "I didn't push a hairy dog out of my fanjo" or "I am their owner not their fucking parent".

Oh and the timeless classic - "your house is on fire who would you rather save".

As a vet, I find it ludicrous but probably harmless. Though I recently had a massively overwrought client howl to me in the consulting room "he's my CHILD!", referring to her obnoxious dog, in front of her clearly adopted and very uncomfortable approx seven year old son. I thought that was not harmless.

She's a sister to baby boy whose due in September. She loves her bump-brother. She snuggles up at nighttime and purrs and he wiggles. It's nice.

I'm secretly glad it's a boy too because I've been referring to her as my favourite girl for ages. If ds was dd instead it'd be awkward having to go back on that.

Of course! Especially when its Catdaddy's turn to get out of bed at stupid o clock and feed Dcat -thats every time of course. And because Catmummy needs her sleep more (and is not a nice person before a cup of tea in bed).. This also gives cat daddy opportunity to gain a Good Husband Point , by making said tea..

Ememem- Our boy car at is our first baby boy and our girl cat is our baby girl.
Be prepared for cats not to love baby as much as bump- ours didn't! They tolerate him now he's 5. I took a lot of pictures of my (human) baby and my cat baby asleep together which maybe isn't the top parenting response

My cat is my baby! He's a stray who adopted me. I call him poppet, pop pops, or sometimes fluff puff!

I give dcat a voice too and act out his mannerisms. He tells the dds all about his day at school, who he has played with, what lessons he had, what he had for lunch etc .
