Arghh! Fatty's jaw out again

Got home from a 12.5 hour shift and the jaw out. No idea how she's done it again. Despite keeping an eye on the spy camera. The specialist will see her tomorrow. Meanwhile she's at the local vet hospital having methadone to keep her comfortable because the orthopaedic surgeon wants to see her with it dislocated if possible. The vet is under strict instructions that she is to put it back in if she's in any pain at all. She wasn't happy but I still has to chase her round the house to get her in her basket. Hopefully we can get some answers this time.

Can't tell you what a relief it is to go out and not worry about leaving her! So glad I managed to let her wait to have it relocated and get the answers we needed. Have told them both that I don't want anymore stress or vets visits for at least the next ten years. I think they laughed at me!

They are fine. Thanks for asking. Although I was on a 12 hour shift so not seen much of them. Still giving metacam but not convinced she really needs it. She's eaten some dentabites which is good. A couple of days ago she wouldn't t touch dreemies. I think they may have been to hard. Lovely to be able to leave her and not worry as much as I did before. Check up and vaccinations on Thursday.

She looks so serious in that photo! Her fur is growing back already - so glad she's doing well. Hope they are pleased with her progress tomorrow. Does she travel well?

I know. Everyone thinks she looks grumpy! But she really isn't. My sister has renamed her skelitor. She's going to local vet tomorrow. She travels to Solihull very well though. My friend has invited me for coffee on the way to the vet at her house and she's invited too. (If I didn't think she'd cope being in her basket that long I wouldn't take her) Going to the vet is the only time I ever get to cuddle her!

The vet was very happy with her. Checked all her cranial nerves. And said that surgery was the right decision to make. Apparently the same surgeon operated on her sisters dog. So she wanted to know what he was like. Checkup with the surgeon on 14th June, then hopefully that's it.
Recent pictures of both of them for their fan clubs delectation! Both taken yesterday.

She looks like a different cat already.

Well done to her - and to you and the vet staff. Smile

Suprised how quick her hair is growing back. Her sisters took months. The surgeon apparently operated on the vets sister dog. She was asking if he was nice. (He is) Final check up with the surgeon on 14th June, the hopefully that's it.Grin

The first growth would be fast. The full length might be a lot longer.

Fingers crossed for 14th June. Smile

She's just kneaded me and then say on my knee again without a towel! She's never kneaded me before. She doesn't do it much!

I'm in love with your cats.
Orthopaedic veterinary nurse here... not often you see it talked about out of work! Glad to hear she is on the mend.
Encase I didn't mention it... I'm in love with your cats.
(Can also tell you my mums Maine coon has had similar problems!!!)

Thanks, they are gorgeous but I am biased. Did your mums cat have any surgery to fix it permanently? Did it work?

I'm a human, orthopaedic nurse. (Children's) so it's all been a bit bizarre.

She hasn't had and surgery as hers only dislocates with trauma, she's become very self aware but still stupid and hasn't had any further issues.
Webdidbfind out with further investigation that she has had a broken jaw from a young age (symphysis affected) and that's why it happens!
Her previous owners were truly awful to her!!

I love your beautiful gorgeous girlies! Glad that Fatty is giving you cuddles. I think they know when you have done something to help them and make them feel better, even it is horrible at the time and they love you more for it Smile.

The only explanation for Madams is that she is yawning too much. She does look like her head is going to fall off!

She had a thing about running into glass doors, which started it off. Then found out about the breaks, she can't fully open hers because of the positioning - so when she whacks it or yawns it just falls open.
She's gained sense of her surroundings and my mum panders the cutting up her chicken into tiny pieces... so they've found a way to live! It's bizarre, but my mum is happy - and that cat is too!

Madam is going to see the surgeon for her check up today. Fingers crossed that that is the end of this saga!

Surgeon happy, I'm happy and HRH is happy. I just hope this is the end now and we can all relax! The gap on the left hand side is the bit where he removed the bone.
