The litter tray

Arghh! Fatty's jaw out again

Got home from a 12.5 hour shift and the jaw out. No idea how she's done it again. Despite keeping an eye on the spy camera. The specialist will see her tomorrow. Meanwhile she's at the local vet hospital having methadone to keep her comfortable because the orthopaedic surgeon wants to see her with it dislocated if possible. The vet is under strict instructions that she is to put it back in if she's in any pain at all. She wasn't happy but I still has to chase her round the house to get her in her basket. Hopefully we can get some answers this time.

She seems absolutely fine. Head butting my dad with the affected side. Discovered that she has adorable little wrinkles round her ears when she does that it's so cute. Very surprised that my dad is flavour of the month. Tried to get a pic but she's run off.

Eliza, I never adopted them because they were Persians, I just fell in love with a photo of Snorg that I saw on Facebook and the rest is history.

Your Dad went down OK last time he was with you, didn't he? Smile Good news really - to have an acceptable cat sitter easily to hand.

Yes. He did. But slightly hurt that she went to him first! I think they find a house full of people to much, but him on his own is clearly ok. Apparently my parents cat has really missed him and spent all night asleep on his pillow.

I seem to keep saying the wrong thing - sorry, Toddler if I've offended you, it was not at all my intention. I meant that you had said your colleagues were saying they were not very pretty and you said you loved them anyway. She is cute and I'm so glad she's doing so well even if you have the issue of switched allegiance to deal with. Are you on again tonight? Sleep well.

Don't worry. Eliza. It's just a bit of a tease we have going with Toddler. I doubt she's offended at all. Wink

Anyway - I'm glad she's recovering well, Toddler. How are your own shattered nerves? Grin

Eliza, I am not the slightest bit offended. You didn't say the wrong thing at all. I always feel that I have to justify why I have Persians and that they are rescues. Silly I know. She's been snuggled up with me all day and is purring her head off. On nights again tonight. She's fine so am happy to leave her on her own. Will leave the camera on.

She sounds happy. Smile How long will she receive pain relief for?

Ah, phew. It's that tone in typing thing - jokes can fall flat or sound like digs. I bet they love when you are on nights and basically switch to their natural sleep pattern! The camera thing sounds a good reassurance for things like this.

Will pay it by ear. It made her sick after a few days last time. But have reduced the dose and she seems ok. She's behaving normally but won't touch dreemies so I think she is a bit sore. As you'd expect.

As you'd expect, Yes. (Although you can't rule out that the things that have been done and the meds are giving her some temporary strange tastes as well as sensations and pains.) Did the orthopaedic surgeon recommend any restrictions on diet?

Report
Toddlerteaplease · 13/05/2017 18:02

No, he said she could eat what she liked. Trying to restrict her to wet food only is a nightmare as she just won't eat enough of it. Giving her pouches and the dry is left out. My dad said she was eating dry last night. At least I can put the micro chip feeders on eBay and not feel I'm tempting fate!!

She seems to behave well for your Dad? Galling. Wink

Ha ha. To be fair they are both extremely well behaved. I am just so proud of both of my girls. They are such tough cookies and have given me much more than I have given them.

Luckily asbo dislikes everyone apart from me, dn's girlfriend & his cousin.

You'll notice Dh is not on that list.

Our Persians were very placid, they were no trouble.

Fluffy, for placid, don't you mean thick?

A friend has suggested I put some moisturiser on her face in case it's itchy. Not round the sound obviously. Is that a good idea?

Ooh I wouldn't risk it, I'd just leave it alone.

All of ours were intelligent. Just lovely quiet cats happy to go about their business with not much input from us. Then we got the Bengal whos more work than the other 4 put together.

I don't know re the moisturiser. Maybe try it once and if you still have any fingers and if it goes ok do it again. Or what about bio oil - you'd need much less.

Glad to hear that she is better, it's unhealthy how much I enjoy seeing photos of these fluffballs, thanks Toddler for the update

Maybe some form of edible oil? Coconut? Olive? don't mention fish, you'll drive mad whatever is not poisonous to cats.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/05/2017 14:36

I popped a tiny dot of my moisturiser on. (Simple) and she was fine with it. Didn't bother her in the slightest. She didn't try and get it off. And I still have all my fingers. Most of the wound looks almost healed.
