......will one day falter.

I'm afraid that Seniorboy died late this afternoon. At the vet's. I have some very very fine whisky waiting to salute him with and I am just going to go and light a candle for him. I probably won't be around for a few days - or if I am, you'll have to bear with some rather tipsy posting.

My Darling old lad.

Bear in mind that the lad didn't become seriously unwell until two minutes after I pressed confirm on an order for the world's supply of Lick E Lix. In control to the end. Grin

Absoloutely bloody typical! We still have a stash of special renal food that Ninja cat stuck her nose up at just before we took the hard decision. You made the tough decision. Better a week too soon than a day too late with old cats in my humble opinion - they are such buggers for hiding pain.

HemanOrSheRa · 29/03/2017 20:15

Hehe! Typical! Maybe it's the whisky or maybe it's that he had a fine life with your Mum and then you Smile. And like you say it was his time. He had an amazing life Smile.

cozietoesie · 29/03/2017 20:17

He had a good life. And then it stopped. I feel the pain of loss but not that of regret.

Oh Cozie I'm so sorry. Seniorboy was indeed a legend round these parts. Sending you a furry paw to hold from me and eleventycat. And hoping that wherever his spirit is, there's plenty of Lik-e-Lix Flowers

GRW · 29/03/2017 20:38

Yes I am sure you knew that the time was right, and it's easier to accept when there are no regrets. It's hard when it feels like a link to your mother has gone. My cat went downhill overnight too, and I didn't want to put her through the stress of being on a drip at the vets. I knew she had kidney failure and she hated blood tests.

HemanOrSheRa · 29/03/2017 20:40

He had a good life. And then it stopped. I feel the pain of loss but not that of regret.

Absolutely Smile.

LanaorAna1 · 29/03/2017 20:41

He had a monumentally brilliant life. He was and is an exceptional gentleman.

I know this won't make you feel any better, but it was good for him - at least the end was quick. No humiliating lingering, treatments that don't work, scary hosp, etc. Given even the most phenomenal of us has to die, that was definitely the best way. There's a lot to be said for a good death, and he had one.

In the hope it will make you smile, I have just taken a phone call from medics to be told that the 5 hours I spent in A&E on Friday plus numerous unpleasant eye appts this week are due to Mr C punching me in the face when I was late with his breakfast. Diagnosis = ocular puncture wound (animal, felis). So that's my Special Memory to Treasure sorted Grin

Vinorosso74 · 29/03/2017 20:46

So sorry to read of Seniorboys passing. I loved that picture you posted of him soaking up the rays the other day. RIP distinguished gentleman of The Litter Tray. Perhaps he can become a MN classic Flowers

Trustyourself2 · 29/03/2017 20:47

It's a very sad time for you. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a very beautiful lad.

So sorry to hear this SadSadSadSad

cozietoesie · 29/03/2017 21:31

I'll confess - and this may be the (very good) whisky talking - to never being too sure about the Rainbow Bridge. I have this vision, for example, of Seniorboy and Twoago squaring off in a 'She's mine, No She's mine ' sort of way.. Maybe things will be different when we get there - or maybe we'll just fall into a sea of love and companionship?

Weedsnseeds1 · 29/03/2017 21:34

Oh no, I'm so sorry. I really thought Seniorboy was immortal. Whisky sounds like the best plan, raising a glass of the good stuff to a good boy, who's gone but not forgotten.

Threetoedsloth · 29/03/2017 21:48

Oh Cozie I am so very sad to read this. I have just wailed to my husband that Seniorboy has gone- he knew exactly who I meant as I have regaled him with stories of the lad. We're especially fond of the tale of the clean pair of heels he used to show you when he was your mum's.
RIP to a Litter Tray legend. Such a splendid chap.

cozietoesie · 29/03/2017 21:52

The candle has helped quite enormously. I have no idea why.

MrsEvadneCake · 29/03/2017 21:54

I'm sorry Cozie that he has gone. Flowers

LanaorAna1 · 29/03/2017 21:59

Well, you'd all be more than fine in alternative universes, because there would be 2 - you in both and the kitties in one each. So you don't even have to believe in heaven, just maths.

cozietoesie · 29/03/2017 22:02

Siamese, Lana. They'd insist on being in both! Grin
