A friend has offered us first dibs on a kitten. Which shall we choose (with pictures)?

We can't agree. DS likes the black one, DD and DH the pretty one with the ginger smudge and I like the other two.

All of them.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 06/10/2016 21:14

I had two boys - one ginger, one black. Ginger was the most loving gorgeous boy. Black has the most appalling grumpy attitude problem. Based on that I'd go for the ginger.

not all black cats have attitude problems.

Ankleswingers · 06/10/2016 21:14

I love the black one... he's beautiful Smile

Also like the gorgeous one in the second picture.

In fact, I love all of them so am no help at all here OP Grin

ShowOfHands · 06/10/2016 21:15

I've had 3 black cats in the last 15 years. One old lady who nobody wanted and was 12 when we took her in and then brothers who they struggled to rehome.

I am biased for black cats though... my parents have a gorgeous tom and he's wonderful Smile

yeOldeTrout · 06/10/2016 21:17

-Whichever one will get the mamacat owner to get mamacat spayed ASAP.

Do they have obvious personalities yet? Go for a pair with personalities to match your household. 2 kittens are the best things ever, btw, an experience not to be missed.

paddypants13 · 06/10/2016 21:19

Clearly you are totally irresponsible op. The only responsible thing would be for you to take all of them (I would take mum too if I could get away with it!). Grin

They are all lovely but I am rather fond of black cats. I would take the black one.

gettingtherequickly · 06/10/2016 21:19

Tortie in picture 3, the rest of you must be blind, she's gorgeous! Grin

cozietoesie · 06/10/2016 21:28

The ginger then. If he hasn't decided yet he's not only a thoughtful one but also - in that litter - pretty laid back. Smile

ShowOfHands · 06/10/2016 21:32

I love the tortie.

I wondered how long till spaying was mentioned . Please just assume as a responsible pet owner with 30+ years of cat ownership and without ever having owned a cat from anywhere other than a rescue, the passive aggressive crossing out isn't needed.

Cool. Next time I'll write in bold just 4 you.

thehugemanatee · 06/10/2016 21:34

Let the cats decide. Go and meet them -- one of them will probably choose you. Cats are like that.

Myredrose · 06/10/2016 21:39

I think it's good to mention spaying, it's not aimed at you, lots of people gaily breed kittens and lots of lurkers are on mumsnet.

None of the spaying questions got answered anyway.

ShowOfHands · 06/10/2016 21:45

Don't mind people asking about spaying. Comments crossed out aren't questions.

IAmAPaleontologist · 06/10/2016 21:46

All of them. How is it possible to choose? They are all beautiful! Which one is the boldest and most compatible with your boy child?

Myredrose · 06/10/2016 21:48

I asked about how it came about- I can't help myself. I just wondered. I did say that they are very cute too Flowers

jessica29054 · 06/10/2016 21:48

The pink nose! Omg I love them! Grin

Hidingtonothing · 06/10/2016 21:48

My black cat is grumpy too Sandunes, fortunately he is also stunningly beautiful and very funny so I'm quite happy to put up with the grumps. He's 13 now and we've had him since he was 8 weeks old, he's known nothing but love and pampering so no idea what he has to be grumpy about, if I thought for one second he'd put up with it I would be searching for a ginger kitten as we speak thanks to this thread Grin

Lilacpink40 · 06/10/2016 21:50

Choose on personality. Are you keen on confident / cuddly / calm / cheeky?
Ask the current owners as they'll have seen them at all times of the day.

cozietoesie · 06/10/2016 21:53

They can be grumpy on general principle, Hiding. No need of a specific reason. Grin

ShowOfHands · 06/10/2016 21:54

Missed your q myredrose. It's all taken care of and Mum and kits have homes sorted.

Tortie is most DS compatible we think.

I had the grumpiest black cat ever once. She looked like Crookshanks and slept in the sink.

You can have 'glass half full' and 'glass half empty' cats just like you can people. Seniorboy is a little 'glass half empty'. (The Lodger would just consider the contents! Grin)
