A friend has offered us first dibs on a kitten. Which shall we choose (with pictures)?

All of them, obviously. There is a high chance that the torties will be characterful - Google "tortitude". We have one just like the pretty, patchy one, and she's the quirkiest, most "in your face" cat I've ever had. One theory is that the genes which create the markings, also "scramble" their personality!

cozie you may have a point there, my Felix (black with white socks tips, parts of stomach etc) didn't photograph that well either, but then that was because his owner said he didn't sit still...

I think he was cooped a lot maybe even crated in a cat carrier.

It is true that black cats are difficult to rehome because some people are superstitious. The cat rescue charity I support, and which has provided 2 of my mogs, always has a surfeit of little panthers.

Black cat is grumpy, tortie is chilled, pretty cat is pretty and the ginger tom is undecided who he'll be.

Oh can I have the ginger tom pleeease? They're all gorgeous OP, I would sit in the middle of them and see which one crawled up my front and nuzzled under my chin. I'm a firm believer we don't choose cats, they choose us.

I wondered about the wee black ones eye too? Unlucky shot or something to be checked out? My new kitten defo choose us- I went and visited and left it up to the kittens- the one currently playing chase with one of my fosters and sounding like an elephant- came over,had a sniff and climb all over me then curled up in my knee and went to sleep- decision made.....

I got my lovely ginger boy from my friend's litter, and I have always loved ginger cats. Black ones are often the last to be chosen which seems unfair. They are all beautiful so you can't go wrong whichever you choose.

The pretty cat is the calico type with the smudge. She's DD and DH's favourite. Black is male iirc.

They all have homes. I just get first pick.

Might go and have cuddles and try again with a decision.

The rescue centre also told my sister people dont like black cats as they dont look as good on selfies! Some people dont deserve animals
