Help please poorly kitten

My 6mth old kitten (Teddy) has been vomiting white frothy liquid since Sat night. Took him to vet yesterday (because I was concerned about the stuff DH had put on the lawn last week) she examined him and did bloods but apart from slightly raised temperature everything was normal. She gave him an injection to help the nausea and he tried to eat a tiny bit of fish last night.
He was sick again last night but nothing since the only thing is he's still not interested in food. He is drinking a little and weeing so that's good but he is sleeping a lot and looking very sorry for himself.
Is there anything I can do/get him to help his tummy and tempt him to eat. Tried steamed fish and chicken and all his favorites but no interest so far.
We (Teddy and me) would be very grateful for any ideas. Thanks Here he is a week or so ago x

Slightly mixed news again but I think he's on a good trend?

Well done Teddy. 🙂

Hi cozie,
Yes it appears to be reasonably positive. The glands/calcivirus I knew was still active because his gums are dark red at the front.
Just hope his temperature doesn't rocket because we're only doing half the Metacam - time will tell I'm keeping everything crossed that it will be OK.
He had his first probiotic this evening and ate it fine 😃.

Different physiology I know but they took about 3/4 days to start working on me - don't expect any sort of sudden wonder-drug result.

Keep us informed of the lad's progress anyway. 🙂

anoldiebutagoody · 28/06/2016 21:56

No I don't expect it to work straight away I was just glad he ate it without too much bother 😀

True.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow. 🙂

anoldiebutagoody · 30/06/2016 15:56

3 days now with normal temperature and no Metacam - spoke with the vet yesterday as he was supposed to have his Metacam but as he was so good and temperature normal I suggested we leave it for another day which she agreed. Decided that if his temperature is OK we won't give the Metacam but if it rises to/past 39 I'll start it again.

Fingers crossed it'll continue to be normal for as long as possible, forever would be nice, he's such a different kitten when he's well, so much more energy - at the moment I know he's a happy boy 😃

Well done Him. Smile

cozietoesie · 30/06/2016 22:04

I should add.

It will soon be time for another photo I think? (They change so quickly.) Smile

TimeIhadaNameChange · 30/06/2016 22:41

Yay! That's brilliant news!!!!! Bigs hugs from me tonight!

How's the temperature-taking going? Hope it's not too traumatic for either of you.

Hope the good news continues, and I definitely agree that we need another picture (maybe with Bobby too?)

xxx

PS I think my boy bunny would tell Teddy to avoid the neuter - he's not been having the best few days of his life!!!!!!

anoldiebutagoody · 01/07/2016 12:07

He wasn't sick this morning so looks like the antacid tablets and no Metacam has done the trick.
Temperature is normal again today Grin I did think he might not want his breakfast as he disappeared with Bobby as soon as the back door was opened and didn't come back for about an hour. However he proved me wrong and after turning his nose up at the Applaws chicken (so Bobby ate it) he had a plate of Royal Canin and freshly cooked chicken with probiotic.
Here are some photos of them in the garden I've just taken, the last two they spotted a seagull on the roof that was coming down towards them.
Hope your bunny feels better soon Time x

Great photos - he looks almost grown up! Smile

Difficult to tell sometimes whether they're really off particular food or whether you're being taken advantage of. Wink If the latter, they can be real quick on the uptake. Grin

Just having these good days is positive though, I think. Fun, games and food inside him, eh? Smile

anoldiebutagoody · 01/07/2016 14:32

If you go by the size of his paws he's going to be a big lad, even the vet commented that he has big paws.
He certainly knows I won't let him not eat so if he doesn't fancy what's on his dish he turns his nose up at it & I get him something else. When/if he eventually gets better he'in for a big shock !! 😀

I suspect not, I fear. You're likely always going to have a concern about him - with some justification I reckon because the immune system can be a fragile thing.

And humans can be trained by cats as well as the other way round. Grin

TimeIhadaNameChange · 01/07/2016 15:16

I agree with Cosie - he has you right where he (and Bobby) want you, firmly wrapped around his paws. He knows all he has to do is not eat for a day and he'll get what he wants.

They are both gorgeous lads btw, and yes, Teddy is definitely looking less kitten-like.

Bunny must be feeling better, he woke me in the middle of the night by jumping on top of the box that's in the cage. He looked so pleased with himself, sat up there!

Thanks for the pics!!!!! Big hugs to the pair of them!

cozietoesie · 03/07/2016 20:03

How's he doing today?

anoldiebutagoody · 03/07/2016 21:02

Hi cozie
Temperature still normal - just on antacids and probiotics.
No sickness still eating, weeing and pooing fine and loving tearing around the garden in the sunshine.
Wasn't fussed on the bit of roast chicken I gave him at lunch time (obviously my cooking isn't up to scratch), so it looks like I'll have to steam some for him later and we'll have to eat the rest of the roast chicken😁
Still taking each day as it comes and it's quite ridiculous how happy I am when he eats all his food and has lots of energy to run around like a kitten should☺

V pleased to hear this. I suppose Bobbie is getting some of the roast chicken....? (You can't convince me this hasn't been cooked up by the pair of them!)

Am thrilled Teddie's doing so well. You're not the only person ridiculously happy with the news. Tell him to keep up the good work and enjoy chasing the flies!!!

anoldiebutagoody · 03/07/2016 21:47

Hi Time
Bobby turned his nose up at it too (just so wondering if hubby & I will be throwing up later😂, it tasted alright !) - I'm not used to cats not liking human food but Bobby doesn't. I think it's probably because he ate only dried food at the rescue, but he will eat a bit of wet now.
Teddy's getting fed up of the temperature taking and tensed everything yesterday so it was more uncomfortable and he tried to nip hubby, not really nasty just snowing his displeasure. He was OK today after a bit of fuss.
I keep telling him everyone is rooting for him, I'd give him lots of cuddles if he'd let me, can usually manage a couple then he gets anti and wants to get down. Wish he was a bit more cuddly, but I'll persevere ☺

Glad to hear that things are relatively stable at the moment. Both Teddy and Bobby are gorgeous Smile

cozietoesie · 03/07/2016 22:23

Gosh. There are some cats who don't like their temperature being taken once a year let alone once a day! Grin It's probably a sign that he's feeling better - less wabbit etc. Maybe ask the vet whether you need to do it so often now he seems improved? When are you due to phone her?

Seniorboy is also fairly indifferent to roast chicken by the way. Always has been. As long as he's eating his main nosh. Smile

This sounds pretty positive. At the least, he's got a good few days of lower temperature and good food under his belt for any rougher times ahead. I'm glad that the probiotics seem to still be proving edible.

anoldiebutagoody · 03/07/2016 22:43

Vet's on holiday until Thursday, she asked if I'd be OK. But it's much less stressful for Teddy than taking him to the vet. Think I'll give him a day off tomorrow if he still seems OK, he's very good really usually just flicks the end of his tail.
He's started sitting with his tongue sticking out like the photo, I think it's because the calcivirus is affecting his tiny front teeth, vet says they look like they'll come out - trouble is she can't tell if they are his milk teeth or permanent ones. Doesn't stop him eating so don't think they are giving him any pain.
Oh and I've not shown you where I found Bobby yesterday Grin

If his teeth are a casualty, so be it. If he's better generally that is.

Good luck to him. Smile

anoldiebutagoody · 03/07/2016 23:14

Yes, I completely agree cozie, I'm not bothered about his teeth, it doesn't affect the incisors and he's eating his wet food OK and from time to time I've caught him eating Bobby's dry food. It's not like he's going to have to hunt for his food.
Anyway I think he looks quite cute with his tongue poking out Smile

cozietoesie · 03/07/2016 23:34

I guess the vet will be able to take a proper look at his teeth and gums when he has his op ? That looks as if it will be on the cards now?
