I went to talk to RSPCA centre today to look at cats, hoping to rehome.
We can't take cat home until mid August, after hols. I'm a first time owner.....

So looked at all the cats & there was beautiful girl called Maisie, long black hair with stunning green eyes - the lady at RSPCA said she was a little nervous with new people.

Maisie slinked out of her cage, climbed onto my knee, nudged my hand & started drooling! I feel like i've been chosen Smile
Sad we had to leave her, fingers crossed she's still there when we go back!

I'm not sure about the bed. She seems very cuddly! I'll see what happens tonight Grin

cozietoesie · 15/08/2015 18:08

Heard that one before! Grin And she's certainly bonded with you very quickly.

I guess we'll just have to assume that she won't need a special bed for herself tonight - especially when she cries plaintively for Mummy at 2 in the morning ? Wink

MagpieCursedTea · 15/08/2015 18:25

Aww congratulations on your new arrival! Thanks

Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 19:08

Haha! Cozie, i have an image of being woken by a cat sitting on my head in the morning!

Lulu wolfed her dinner down very loudly & quickly.

She is now snuggled with Ds on sofa!
Awww

Thanks Magpie! we are smitten

Awww. Good for you OP. Adopting a pet is a wonderful thing to do and she seems very happy with you already SmileFlowers

cozietoesie · 15/08/2015 20:15

Ah - sounds as if it might be DS's bed then. Would he mind or would he be puffed with pride? Wink

Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 20:39

Puffed with pride i think! we've just brushed her & she is a tart! Loved it, rolling around on her back!
I promise i'll stop with all the updates soon Blush

Nothing wrong with being a proud cat Mammy! Keep the updates coming (feel free to include more adorable cat photos).

ShipwreckedAndComatose · 15/08/2015 21:04

Oh no, do keep posting! you are in good company.

Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 21:09

Haha! Ok Smile
She keeps wandering into the kitchen & mewing, I have no idea what she wants.
Still no use of litter tray, but I took her to it before & she looked at me with disdain.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/08/2015 21:27

She might want more food, shelters probably feed twice a day not 3 4. Sometimes I move where the cat food is kept just to mess with him a bit.

cozietoesie · 15/08/2015 21:49

You'll doubtless be warning the family before bedtime that she might 'wander' in the night and investigate their beds then. Good luck. Smile

Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 21:54

I'm ready for bed now!
Ds has just asked if we should leave a light on for her or the radio! Haha.

I shall update hopefully in the morning & not at 2am with a cat sitting on my head Grin

cozietoesie · 15/08/2015 21:56

I give it 10 minutes before the miaowing - or even yowling - starts. Grin Just remember that if she finds her way upstairs somehow, she hasn't used her tray yet so keep an eye open for closed doors etc.

Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 21:59

Will do, thanks Cozie! i'm shattered, hope she's ok!
She looks quite lovely here!

Great photo!

Northumberlandlass · 16/08/2015 07:37

Morning. I'm a bit bleary eyed.
Woken by mewing, yowling, racing around the house, leaping onto my chest for most of the night.
BUT she has used both trays Smile wee & poo & has now tucking into breakfast!!
Hopefully tonight will be better!

I've just noticed she mews as she walks away after food/ drink! Maybe she's saying thanks? OR is it more likely she's saying 'is that it?' Smile

Oh my cat used to do that after her food! She was partly Burmese (who, I believe are very chatty) and also stone deaf as she got older. So she could be really noisy.
It's so lovely to see how well she is settling in

Northumberlandlass · 16/08/2015 07:53

I'm so happy Ship - she's a sweetheart!

ShipwreckedAndComatose · 16/08/2015 07:58

It's good to read. I am at the start of this process after getting back from holiday and hope to visit the local rescue centre sometime this week. I tried not to look too hard before going in case I fell in love like you did! So I am really pleased it worked out for you, so easily could have been me Grin

Northumberlandlass · 16/08/2015 08:26

Oh i look forward to hearing about your adoption journey! I hope you get chosen too Grin

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 16/08/2015 11:02

All sounding good. Smile And as to the miaowing when she leaves her food station? I have no idea - she's your cat and you'll have a lot to learn about each other from now on.

And in some ways, cats are like kids - you start to worry when there's silence and not when there's noise! Give it a week and you'll be thinking to yourself 'It's too quiet - what's she up to?' if she's not creating somewhere in the house. Grin

ChaircatMiaow · 16/08/2015 11:22

She is just divine! What a beautiful puss. Give her about a week and you'll see that she settles into a routine. Cats are very very habitual creatures.

Northumberlandlass · 16/08/2015 11:40

I do feel like a new mum again!! Learning behaviour & cries Grin

She's just had a quiet 30mins under bed in spare room.
Making sure DS gives her some space!
