I went to talk to RSPCA centre today to look at cats, hoping to rehome.
We can't take cat home until mid August, after hols. I'm a first time owner.....

So looked at all the cats & there was beautiful girl called Maisie, long black hair with stunning green eyes - the lady at RSPCA said she was a little nervous with new people.

Maisie slinked out of her cage, climbed onto my knee, nudged my hand & started drooling! I feel like i've been chosen Smile
Sad we had to leave her, fingers crossed she's still there when we go back!

Nothing to add except yay! We got our 8 year old boy nearly a year ago, and he's the luffliest ball of fluff. Can't imagine our home without him now!

I always would have a new cat checked out, I think - it starts off the new relationship and you just never know when they're going to need a vet. (Like people.) I would have thought that the rescue vet would have given her a going over etc but - no harm done if you go elsewhere as well at a fairly early stage. (Your own vet can have her records sent over from the rescue vet pretty easily.)

Northumberlandlass · 05/08/2015 14:31

Thanks Cozie.
The lady at the centre said they would give me all of her records. I'll make an appt for the next week.

Just a mini rant!
My family has never had cats. My sister who I see every other week & probably comes to my house once a year has announced that "I'm taking you getting a cat as a personal insult" because she has asthma & is allergic!!
FFS.
I think the main niggle is the fact I'll no longer be able to provide dog care when she goes on holiday.
And breathe.

Is there still time to get two ? Grin

Northumberlandlass · 05/08/2015 16:41

Haha Fluffy! Now that would push her over the edge

Grin
cozietoesie · 05/08/2015 17:19

PS - how does she know she isn't allerguc to dogs as opposed to cats?

cozietoesie · 05/08/2015 17:20
  • allergic
Northumberlandlass · 05/08/2015 17:22

Apparently, she's always been fine with dogs! She's never lived with a cat! I assume she had a bad reaction being around them?
Anyway, I'm pegging this as something else my family can roll their eyes about Grin

cozietoesie · 05/08/2015 17:36

Ah. Not generally the most positive relationship? Wink

Northumberlandlass · 05/08/2015 18:00

Oh it's a perfectly good relationship as long as I do everything she wants whenever she wants it!! Grin

Butterflywings168 · 05/08/2015 18:49

^ The sister or the cat? Wink
I have newest post first and assumed the last two posts referred to the cat Grin
(I have one of those sisters too, sympathy).

Lulu (ex Maisie) is home!
I cannot find her anywhere. She wandered about, had look at litter tray & food. Ate a bit, then while i was making a cuppa. Disappeared.
This is normal?
I've searched everywhere & can't find her!!

OP posts:
sebsmummy1 · 15/08/2015 11:32

It is very normal. My cat hid under my bed and duvet for about a week
until she started acting normally. My sister's cat found a place on top of the wardrobe and stayed there for a long long time.

Ideally I would have recommended shutting her into one quiet room with a litter tray and food/water and just leaving her be.

Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 11:45

Thanks. She came straight out of he carrier & had a look about! There are lots of nooks & crannies here.
I shall wait patiently for an appearance.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 15/08/2015 11:49

Completely normal. For the time being - and assuming you're certain she couldn't have got out through eg an open window - just ignore her and go about your business. (Maybe plan to roast a chicken this weekend if you eat meat though.)

Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 11:59

Thanks Cozie. No, she couldn't have got out.
Good idea about the chicken!! DS will be pleased too Smile

GatoradeMeBitch · 15/08/2015 12:24

Please post a photo when she reappears! Her photo isn't on the site anymore. (One of my foster cats wedged himself behind the cooker when he first came to us, they hide in all sorts of places!)

wevecomeonholidaybymistake · 15/08/2015 12:33

Awww so pleased you got her Smile
