I went to talk to RSPCA centre today to look at cats, hoping to rehome.
We can't take cat home until mid August, after hols. I'm a first time owner.....

So looked at all the cats & there was beautiful girl called Maisie, long black hair with stunning green eyes - the lady at RSPCA said she was a little nervous with new people.

Maisie slinked out of her cage, climbed onto my knee, nudged my hand & started drooling! I feel like i've been chosen Smile
Sad we had to leave her, fingers crossed she's still there when we go back!

She looks lovely! I'm so glad they're agreed to let you reserve her before you go on holiday Smile Bet you'll be excited to get home!!

QforCucumber · 30/07/2015 13:20

Isn't she just gorgeous!

our covered tray is by the back door in a corner, cats were kept in the kitchen when we first moved in. soon took over the whole house.

you'll be fine, and she may be your first but certainly not your last Grin

greenhill · 30/07/2015 13:23

Hope it works out with the reservation. Maisie is virtually identical to my cat, who is very affectionate and loves to be brushed with a fine wire brush, has very long hair and moults everywhere!

Northumberlandlass · 30/07/2015 13:24

I am so excited! I have a list of cat things to buy.
Can't wait to tell DS tonight when he gets back from his holiday.
I may embrace becoming a crazy cat lady Grin

A brush was the first thing on my list greenhill! I really hope she loves to be brushed

It's so true that pets choose their owners more than owners choose their pets

When we got our dog as a puppy we had pick of a litter of 12. He came and chewed my shoelaces, we had a cuddle, he weed on me and then flaked out infront of the fire. He was ours Grin

Bedofwool · 30/07/2015 13:29

Oh she is beautiful (spitting image of my girl, so I am biased! Wink congratulations, I am glad she gets to go home with her chosen person.
We have the litter tray in the downstairs toilet. Nice and quiet and for some reason her and her brother like to go at the same time as me! They wait in line with the girl bashing her brother when he comes out.

PeanutButterOnly · 30/07/2015 13:38

Lovely black cat. Let us know on Wed when you've reserved her! I've become crazy cat woman since getting our rescue 5 weeks ago. I've never made so many trips to different pet shops for our old cats but this one is just more needy and requires toys and treats Grin I have a cupboard full of different food we've tried and he's rejected!

CelibacyCakeAndFuckThePO · 30/07/2015 13:53

Ah so gorgeous!

There's a cat at the RSPCA centre I volunteer for. I adore him. He is a big bag of ginger dribbles and cuddles. Was a cruelty case, is now up for rehoming but nobody wants him Sad

I need him. I have a 2 yo boy though so fall foul of the 'no under 5's rule'

If I didn't, he'd be with me now.

She's beautiful. I love cats.

cozietoesie · 30/07/2015 14:06

Great stuff!

(Keep an eye on their dates, Peanut. I ended up giving Seniorboy's rejects to a rescue et al because I saw no prospect of them being eaten before they went off.)

WixingMords · 30/07/2015 14:08

Ah she's beautiful!!

Yeah to reserving her (on a tangent HOW much food is in her dish in the first picture?!?!?)

Northumberlandlass · 30/07/2015 14:52

Thanks everyone! I will update when I have more news on Wednesday. I will probably come back for more advice.

Wixie - I noticed the food too, she is such a petite wee thing as well!

Just went back to check the photo... That's a lot of food!!!

PeanutButterOnly · 30/07/2015 21:05

Good point on the dates Cozie. Will check. Luckily we have a neighbour who works for one of the local rescues!

LittlePeasMummy1 · 30/07/2015 21:18

She is a beauty. Is she at the rspca place in ponteland? Our amazing cat who we lost three weeks ago at the age of 16 came from there.

Northumberlandlass · 30/07/2015 23:42

Littlepeas - the one in Stannington!

I'm sorry about your cat, it sounds like she had a wonderful long life with you.

Rollypoly100 · 31/07/2015 00:44

She's a beauty. Our rescue boy sat on my lap when we visited and he never does laps so they do choose people.

Butterflywings168 · 31/07/2015 00:56

Aw YAY. So glad she's found her forever home.
They really do choose you. My Madame sniffed me then jumped onto my lap Grin little bugger has sat on my lap precisely once since coming home and that was on a particularly cold day but never mind

Butterflywings168 · 31/07/2015 00:57

Oh and agree with pp, that is a LOT of food!

russiandwarf · 31/07/2015 17:01

Ahhhh! We adopted a cat from there last year (it's her one year anniversary with us next weekend Smile ) and she claimed us by climbing up for a cuddle and drooling on us! Love her to bits!
What a lovely thing to look forward to after your holiday!

Northumberlandlass · 05/08/2015 13:59

Have been to visit the centre again this morning SmileSmile
They have reserved Maisie for us! I'm now looking for cat stuff to buy.
Once again lots of cuddles, drooling & picked her up, she was very happy!

Smile

Is it tomorrow you're off on holiday? (And homecheck on return I guess?)

Northumberlandlass · 05/08/2015 14:07

Yes, packing now!
They are doing home visit on the Thurs evening when we get back & i'm picking her up at 10am on Sat 15th!

I'm guessing I should get her checked over at Vet? Would that be the best thing to do?
