I visited an RSPCA Centre...

I went to talk to RSPCA centre today to look at cats, hoping to rehome.
We can't take cat home until mid August, after hols. I'm a first time owner.....

So looked at all the cats & there was beautiful girl called Maisie, long black hair with stunning green eyes - the lady at RSPCA said she was a little nervous with new people.

Maisie slinked out of her cage, climbed onto my knee, nudged my hand & started drooling! I feel like i've been chosen Smile
Sad we had to leave her, fingers crossed she's still there when we go back!

She is out! All over us, rolling around on her back & drooling.
I'm trying to get a decent pic.
I'm on the app, I can't post a pic on here can I?

Golly - that was quick. It sounds as if you've got yourselves a real lovebug there! Smile

No - I'm afraid you can't post pictures using the current app - the new one, allegedly Yes, but that's still under development. If you go on to the Desktop site in Safari, you should be able to. (I'll have to pass on the mobile site's capabilities because I don't use it.)

Ha ha Awwwww she's totally gorgeous Grin

cozietoesie · 15/08/2015 13:24

A lovely girl. And very confident looking. Smile

Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 13:30

It's funny because the centre said she was shy! She is sitting looking amused while DS & his mate are enticing her with toys.
Very cute
my jumper is clicked & I'm covered in black cat hair!

Who can tell - she might be shy with others but not with her 'people' ie she feels she's now come home. You did say that you felt you had been chosen after all? Smile

cozietoesie · 15/08/2015 13:39

All you need now is for her to eat, drink (perhaps - depending on what she's eating etc) and use her tray and the family's day will be complete. Smile

BettyCatKitten · 15/08/2015 13:41

Ah she's beautiful, welcome to the cat club Smile

Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 13:46

She's being lovely!
Yes at being chosen.
Hopefully she'll settle quickly.
Her safe place is under the china cabinet & heads there when there is a new noise etc, but comes out quickly.
i'm sure i'll have lots of photo's soon Smile

It sounds as if her big problem is going to be tearing herself away from people and love and settling to anything at all! Grin

Shall you all be having a quiet time later today where she might grab some shut-eye?

Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 14:02

Yes, when she moves of my lap Smile i'll have to move otherwise there'll be no dinner laterGrin
She is getting annoyed that i've taken a hand off her to write this message!!

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 15/08/2015 14:06

I have to say that she's coming across as very Siamese-y in her character. (I recognise a lot of what you're saying from my own boys' first essays with me.) Do you know her history at all?

Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 14:08

No, not a clue Cozie - all i know is that she was taken into rspca due to welfare concerns.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 15/08/2015 14:11

Ah well. She's just a lovely little girl now. Smile

MoriartyIsMyAngel · 15/08/2015 14:47

She's beautiful!

ShipwreckedAndComatose · 15/08/2015 16:00

Wow! Good to see her settling well in Grin she is adorable!

Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 16:07

She has kneaded me for 30 mins, settled on lap for a sleep & has now slinked back under china cabinet.

She's been here since 11 & no sign of drinking or litter tray being used!

timtam23 · 15/08/2015 16:21

Beautiful girl! So glad you got her Smile

cozietoesie · 15/08/2015 16:21

That's OK. They can go quite a long time without using a tray and if she was eating wet food at the rescue, she'll have got most of her liquid requirements so far today from that. (Or may have had a long drink of water first thing this morning.)

I suspect you just have to watch out for over-excitement and give her some private time at this stage. Getting to her home looks as if it's been BIG for her so she may just be too...too to really look out for herself.

Have you shown her her tray and food/water station?

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/08/2015 16:28

She is gorgeous. Is she responding to the name change?

Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 16:40

Cozie, when she first came out the carrier she walked around & looked at the tray & her food. Had a quick nibble.
She was fed wet food in the morning at centre in morning.

OP posts:
Northumberlandlass · 15/08/2015 16:42

Fluffy - the centre had named her Maisie for advertising purposes really, the lady there said they didn't really call her it.
I hope she'll accept it though!

cozietoesie · 15/08/2015 17:20

Ah Well. Every owner goes through a little bit of First Use Of Tray anxiety, I think, however many cats they've had. (Just be sure to give her private time in case she's a shy and sensitive type.) She should be fine - and even my own old boy, with an old cat's bladder, only pees about a couple of times a day.

Have you decided whether she's to be allowed in bed ? Wink
