MKitten always follows me into the bathroom, then does this upright, demented digging thing on the side of the bath. In a dog like fashion. Then puts his paws on the loo seat in order to inspect what's going to be flushed away Confused

Might be a breed thing, because I've seen a lot of youtube clips of other Devons doing the same thing on vertical surfaces.

If he leave the house at the same time as me he follows me, not trotting at my ankles or anything like that, but will run and hide, then make a dash for the next cover (like he's shadowing me)

Generally I have to make a u turn and go home and leave him back in the house (and then run like the wind so he doesn't spot me) as I really don't know how far he's going to follow me, I've tried to until I'm getting close to the busy road and I start to worry.

Is this weird behavior?

Moln · 04/03/2015 17:21

Oh and he does the following into the bathroom thing too. If i dare close the door when I have a shower he'll meow outside the door until I let him in and then will just sit an look at me

chockbic · 04/03/2015 17:23

Mine follows me into the bathroom as if to say: get out, it's my place.

Which it is, to be fair.

SoupDragon · 04/03/2015 17:28

I will never tire of watching FatCat catching sight of his tail and attacking it. Especially when he is lying along a narrow shelf and falls off.

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/03/2015 23:41

Yes, yes, Rubbish, he is exactly like that!

He also cannot jump, even onto the bed. So every single sheet that we have has a little square rip in the corner, where he has tried to jump up and lost his balance and fallen off. We have taken pity on him and our sheets and have put a box there so he doesn't have to do it in one jump. He tried to get between armchair and sofa the other day, and had clearly forgotten that there was just air between the two, moved his back legs as if he was stepping, and fell on the floor.

Right now, we are having a clear out. He has managed to get up to the top of a pile of boxes on the dining table, but cannot get down, as we have moved the boxes he used to navigate getting up there. He has been there for four hours now, in an "Oh yes, I'm perfectly fine up here" sort of way, but I know he is desperate to get down and stick his face in his food. I will respect his dignity by putting the boxes back so that he can jump down onto them, rather than lift him off the boxes, while the kitten sits watching and laughing.

Corygal · 04/03/2015 23:50

Once, I farted in bed - Mr Cory shot up my nightdress and bit my anus.

juneybean · 04/03/2015 23:55

Mia runs to the litter tray in the bathroom so we can pee in sync.

She bangs on cupboard doors for no apparent reason.

Gracey depending on her mood either washes Mia or sits on her head, very odd

RubbishMantra · 05/03/2015 11:59

And you found that amusing Cory?!

Ouch!

Jemima lies on the skybix and tries to change the channel onto jewlerry channel.
Eponine's favourite food is mushrooms.
Zazzles cries and cries until you pick him up and cuddle him.
Matilda follows us to the shops.

All of my cats are quite odd.

RubbishMantra · 05/03/2015 12:07

Moln, I used to have a follower cat. She'd do the ninja bush scurrying thing, then get freaked out and start miaowing really loudly.

I came out of a restaurant once, to find her waiting outside. She was running up to all the passers by as if to say "I'm a lonely stray, take me home with you!"

The big fat furry one is a fantastic cat burglar.

We have two locks on our fridge to keep him out and he frequently returns with gifts for us. He steers clear of the traditional 'dead frog/mouse/bird' cliches though.

We often get birdfeeder fat balls, have had a whole pack of bacon, a packet of garden cane cable ties, a packed lunch (complete with sandwiches an apple and a kitkat) and most oddly of all a live bumble bee in a carrier bag. BlushConfused

Corygal · 05/03/2015 12:09

Rubbish, the pain was exquisite. I can feel it even now. I thought 'amusing' could mean other people found something funny. Only Mr Cory laffed in our house.

MissDexter · 05/03/2015 12:14

My cat loves to play fetch with a crisp bag, she gets all excited when you're eating them as she wants to play Grin

RubbishMantra · 05/03/2015 12:21

Nice thoughtful and quirky gift, a bumble bee in a carrier bag All. The sort of thing you could probably buy on Etsy.

Believe me, I found it tres amusing, Cory.

Sensethismakesnone · 05/03/2015 12:22

My cat plays fetch too! Obsessively. With anything. Elastic bands, hair grips, catnip toys, the foil lid off a milk top... she brings them to you in bed at around 7am and continually through the day, the game continues for hours sometimes. Has done since she was about 3 months old. We swear she's a dog trapped in a cats body ...
She also harasses you in the bath trying to catch your feet under the water.
Interesting how they all have their little quirks!

Dreamiesrcatopium · 08/03/2015 21:37

We havee beware of the cat sign in our front window. This is due to her love of bringing us the post and eating the postmans hand once in her enthusiasm. She does not care for the window cleaner either... much hissing and teeth baring at the window. This is made more amusing by how little and cute she is.

She plays fetch, and we have taught her to sit and give her paw. Only when treats are involved though!

She is very chatty and a certain ringtone in my phone makes her miaow like a nutter till it stops.

chockbic · 09/03/2015 13:38

Nail files, he loves them. Comes gambolling over when I file my nails. He grabs the board, thus giving his own nails/claws a trim. Then chews on the board, looking most pleased.

RubbishMantra · 09/03/2015 14:31

No way, MKitten has a love for nail files as well. Does the same thing as your Basement Jack when I'm using it.

He keeps dragging his shag-bag in and defiling it in front of me. Sad

Perhaps he's trying to entertain me?

OP posts:
RubbishMantra · 09/03/2015 14:38

Oh, mine loves the post too, Dreamies. He runs over to inspect it when it comes through the door. Then stands up on his hind legs to try and work out the letterbox.

I once got ringtone of loads of different cats miaowing very realistically. When he heard it, he spent the rest of the day creeping about, spooked. I think he thought a gang of cats had come round to have a pop at him.

OP posts:
chockbic · 09/03/2015 15:59

He's saying in another life, you too could have this.

That shag bag will be worn out soon.

RubbishMantra · 09/03/2015 18:59

Yes Chock! Poor old shag-bag has bits of fluff ripped out and strewn all about the house! Everywhere. He rags it around the house. Bloody mess he's made. Then he wanders about and eats the random bits of fluff. (yum)

He also attacks my Uggs and the sheepskin rug. Not shagging, just attacking and munching.

OP posts:
RubbishMantra · 09/03/2015 19:05

Oh MrsSchadenfreude, I want a gormless magician puss!

OP posts:
timtam23 · 09/03/2015 21:26

My cat drags his food & water bowls around the kitchen, this isn't so bad with the food bowl but the water goes everywhere. He also "digs" around his food bowl as if to bury any remaining food

He likes racing me along the landing & taking a flying leap onto the bed, and we usually have a game of hide & seek (he is good at the seeking but rubbish at staying hidden when I look for him)

Dreamiesrcatopium · 10/03/2015 07:42

Ha ha shaggy bag has tickled me! Dutty puss!

The ringtone that makes my girl mentally is just the normal ring ring. She looks all worried and climbs on top of me howling as though its trying tp attack me.

Another funny one is the leather footstool I bought my dh fir xmas to match the couch in an attempt to stop him putting his trotters on the coffee table... She instantly thought it was a mini sofa just for her and sits on it and watches tv with us. Never uses it when we are out of the room though.

RubbishMantra · 10/03/2015 14:45

Oh MKitten pushes his water bowl around as well. And races me up the stairs, so he can stick his paws through the banister to get me.

The shag bag - well the website called it a "cuddle bag", sort of like a sleeping bag for cats. He didn't see it that way.

Worse thing is, both of the cats take turns with it. Sad
